Wow you did it, it's amazing to see how some patterns just melt into the canopy like that alien in the predator movie, it was kinda what I was expecting the camouflage with open lighter areas blend best with the broken up open spaces in the canopy, seems patterns are even more effective in the treestand than on the ground, which is why hunters preferred hunting method should dictate the camo that they use. Great Job 👍

@@CamoMatrix geez. There were several that worked great, I'm currently using several different patterns depending on where I'm hunting I have true timber strata as well as vsx realtree xtra mossy oak treestand, atacs and sometimes throw on a leafy suit, also have a couple items in pencott greenzone which I also find very effective. Your videos are a big help, I used leave my camo jacket hanging in my treestand and climb down to see how it looked but I still couldn't get the deer's perspective. Wish I had bought some of that scent lok vertigo.

I will get Scentlok Vertigo and Savanna in the next treestand video and others. As the leaves change on my ladder stand I will use the same photo location for an updated version.

This is fun. Look forward to different backgrounds like winter when there are no green leaves on trees, or in a pine forest. Also think I would be cool to see regular wool flannel plaid shirts and Fred Asbell style jackets like many traditional bowhunters wear.

I love ASAT. Deer always look right through me wearing it anywhere. Preditors line is great but I wish they made better fitting clothes like Sitka does. Fusion is great as well. I think I might get some Natural Gear however.

My top top 6 are Eberlestock Skye, Nomad Veil Whitetail, Predator Spring green, Furtiv, UA Forest, then Flannel and Blue jeans! For this particular application had the treestand been on the other tree with less leaves some others would have been slightly better but that SKYE vanished in this scenario.

Great Picks! This is one of my treestands located on a saddle. I may get some photos of me in some real camo up there to see how it compares to my simulated camo in the stand.

This was fantastic and helpful. Was wondering if you would consider throwing in a red buffalo plaid hunting suit with deer vision? Would be interesting to see how deer viewed the "old timers."

Will do on the next one. I am out hunting for a few weeks and when i return, i will have many more backgrounds. I did put red flannel and blue jeans in one but didn’t do deer vision. I will do it. Stay tuned.

This is great! I'm in the market for new, and came across your stuff, and it's certainly helpful. I'm guessing this is a ton of work. But... A later season look, without the green vegetation, would be awesome. Subscribing, for sure.

Later season hardwoods? I have a whole round of new backgrounds coming up and i have a late season hardwoods that i took last year. I also have a ton of new stuff i just took on a cross country trip. I think i can cover all seasons now. And yes, getting these videos set up can be quite time consuming but fun. Also, what choices are you looking at?

@@CamoMatrix I've been diving into the treasure trove of your videos, and have found your mid and late season hardwood background comparisons - and now your online matrix. Great stuff. I was looking at First Lite Fusion, Pnuma Caza, Skre Summit, Solognac Furtiv, and a couple more. But... I'm leaning towards Sitka Elevated II. I just keep looking to see if there's an option that won't make me drain my kid's college fund. Eh, I guess there's always student loans if I go Sitka. Lol. Veil Whitetail would work, but I'm having a hard time finding any actual gear in that pattern. Anyway, thanks for putting all this together. It's very worthwhile to anyone that finds it.

Sitka is some expensive stuff but well crafted and engineered. In just spend a week in Sitka SubAlpine chasing Pronghorns. I would have used Open Country, which i own for colder weather but my ONLY hot season gear is SubAlpine. I do own Skre Solace and intended to wear it but it was just to hot. They are a good cheaper option and do offer some pretty good starter deals. I will also say that True Timber Strata and VSX are good and may be more affordable. I have worn Strata and SubAlpine together and from a distance, I couldn’t tell. I do not own Elevated II but I may experiment with it to find some alternatives. The matrix can work for that. I may adjust it so there will be a button to place the patterns right next to each other, almost overlapping for people looking to find “similar” or “alternate” patterns to the more expensive choices.

In the last 50+ years I’ve killed more game with my bow ( lots & lots deer, pigs, antelope etc) wearing faded Nam era tiger stripe. The original stuff is impossible to find anymore. Copy cat stuff isn’t the same IMO. Another thing I did 6-7? years ago was start wearing that HECS clothing product. I know this clothing works from the many closer encounters I’ve had while ground hunting. Sitting against a tree or some good slow spot/stalk. Just saying what has been my go to for years.
@CamoMatrix
@CamoMatrix Жыл бұрын
I will be doing a bunch of military camo soon including that tiger stripe and even frog skin. I agree that there may be something to the HECS clothing that helps hide the electrical signals being fired off in our nervous system. I may do some research to see if I can simulate what they may be able to detect.

It's pretty simple, just match your camo pattern(s) to the environment (bottom lands, brush, grasslands, marsh, prairie, swamps, trees etc...) you're hunting... On the ground or in a tree stand. Oh, and ALWAYS wear HECS... You'll be glad you did... TRUST ME!!!

@@CamoMatrix: About eight years ago I thought HECS was a BS Marketing Gimmick, so I bought a set just to prove them "WRONG"... BEST Money I've EVER Spent!!! Went out for a mid-September (Kentucky) hunt, with just the HECS base-layer on (no camo), and the Deer did not recognize what I was, it TRULY blocks our magnetic field! They were more curious about what I was (Unfamiliar Shape), and actually walked toward me to try to identify me. Of course, I did the normal shower thing and wore rubber boots etc. as we all should, but for the whole season when I walked to my sites, the deer never once spooked as I walked in. They just stood there and watched me walk by some with-in 25 yards. And NO, these are not pet deer, they are wild deer in both Urban/Surburban and Public/WMA settings. I wear it now under my normal cameo (Mossy Oak-Breakup Country, Real Tree-Hardwoods, Red Head-Prairie etc.) as I'd rather not tear it while going through all the thick cover I traverse. You have a GREAT Site, and the work you do is an AWSOME Benefit for ALL hunters, so keep it up... Just don't underestimate something new to the market that has been used out west (Oregon - Mike Slinkard), without checking into it.

Very nice presentation, I really didn't expect the patterns to differ much. They really didn't.....except for a few that fit that background. Wonder if UV light was the difference between the those & the others....?
@CamoMatrix
@CamoMatrix 2 жыл бұрын
I try to enhance UV the best i can for deer vision, i am sure i can do better as I make new videos. Studio lighting can vary so much from brand to brand, even jackets and pants of the same pattern can vary if they had them shot at different times or with different light. All in all, many of them do well, in some cases, some of them disappear. Try out my camo matrix at camohuntnstuff.com/matrix/ you can control what you want to see. That tool is also being improved for the future but can help now as it is.

@@CamoMatrix You've really thought this through, very impressive. Thank you for the explanation and link. Many, many years ago a company here in SC made a spray on "UV blocker (?)". It made your camo stiff & a little noisy (bowhunter). It apparently didn't have much interest from hunters.....

So if deer can't see red, orange, and brown then how would a pattern such as Mossy Oak Obsession or Bottomland Original which seemed to be almost invisible in your video appear to them if you were to use an orange background broken up with red and brown patterning? 🤔
