Robert, that was an absolute masterclass in swift water rescue. You got to him, got him breathing, and calmed him down (Not to mention still doing the 1 atm safety stop!). I've known a few people without that experience and quick thinking not make it back from this exact thing. HUGE tip of the hat to you my friend.

Just wanted to say that your videos always make me happy when I’m in the hospital treating leukemia I am rip Clasen and I am 12 years old. when I got leukemia when I was 10 I would sit in the hospital and just watch your videos all the time and I find your videos so amazing because that’s what I do with my dad and I’m restricted from that right now I just wanted to say thanks. WAHPOW!!! haha its always going to be a great show when Aubrey comes along and get your slow motion action stories 😁 which Rob always rolls his eyes at. You are correct about his luck. Just about everytime you dive together he just lucks out and beats you just enough you have to make one more dive to try and catch up. As for the accident it was a great lesson for anyone else who wants to do this and harvest in deep water. Also this was hilarious 5:43🤣🤣🤣

I wish this guy well (and you too). I was Infantry for 27 years and did similar things after for a decade or so. Tunred down OCS and thoe things and stayed as a platoon bonehead (best guys on the planet and then some). That's why it is always a good idea to carry spare air in the form of a pony bottle, etc. They come in different sizes. I never dive without one. You never know when a mechanical malfunction may occur to either your tank or regulator. Great job Rob!

Rob, Glad you were there to help him. Maybe you might want to take a look at the rescue diver handbook. With him being out of air he could have easily lost it and gotten a hold of you and drown both of you. Go behind diver and get your hand on the valve of the tank, you can control his movements even with the ability to wrap your knees around his tank to keep him from bolting or spinning around on you, plus you may need to dump BCD air from his vest. Brother hats off to you for your response to him. Please be careful Sarah and the girls need you!!!! BLESSINGS Jim

Ya under a different circumstance I would have handled it a bit different. But the way it happened, I had to give him air immediately!!! I kept my left arm on his right arm and monitored the situation on the way up. I actually let us come down about 10’ before starting our assent. We did a nice safety stop and let him slow his breathing and breath off some of the nitrogen. It all worked out. Anytime you have a bad situation, it’s important to handle it the way it needs to be handled…. I appreciate your kind words!!!

Dude I couldn't breathe the whole time watching that. I'd of freaked. That's why I can't dive. If I could go back and start my life over, I'd choose to learn how while very young. I'd of never started smoking either. But.... we can't go back.

Always a great video! Always good to see Aubrey! Glad your friend was ok! I heard a podcast a while back when a diver passed out. I dont know if it oxygen or pressure? Anyways he was sinking and his friend happen to see him going down but friend was out and needed to surface. He had to shoot him with spear gun to drag him up. He was going to aim for his thigh? Calf? but was not able to and speared his flipper which held on enough to save him. They were free diving so a little different but so glad you are experienced enough to save him calmly! Thanks for the video! Also we appreciate you as much as you appreciate us! Well I do and sure the majority will agree! :D

The water color difference is from the tides, clear ocean water at high tide in the inlet and murky intercoastal water at low tide in the inlet

Lake Okeechobee water releases! Ft. Myers and Sanibel water gets the color of tea and it smells like laundry soap. The salinity levels in the Caloosahatchee River are so low that the bait shops have to import water from the N. West side of Sanibel to fill their bait tanks. Its very sad that the water in lake Okeechobee is so disgusting. It used to be very clear and fresh smelling when i was a kid back in the 1960's.

Lake Okeechobee water does not flow into the Loxahatchee River. The brown water was just local stormwater runoff.

Water is brown from something called tannis(sp) from rotting vegetation. Incoming tide is blue... outgoing is brown..... I believe 🤔

The water is brown from the Okeechobee being drained same thing happens where im from on the other coast in Fort Myers from the Caloosahatchee river just like they do from the St. Lucie river right by Jupiter

We were in Jupiter inlet, which is the mouth of the Loxahatchee River. Lake Okeechobee does not discharge to the Loxahatchee River. The brown water was local stormwater runoff.

The water is brown because it’s brackish from the rain dumping fresh water and the fresh water sits on top of the saltwater when it mixes it makes it a brownish color but as long as it doesn’t rain again for a few days, it’ll clear right up.

eric: I'm not kidding... have your Pops learn some simple yoga. My instructor talked me into doing it, and the results were amazing. Not only the breathing, but it also helped me so much in focusing on less wasted moving around.

@@ericdavi1231 Get into it WITH your Pop's. You both will be surprised at the results, (I sure was) and it makes for good (LOL) memories! Lots of great books out there too. My buddy and I did it together with my sister's trainer. (Beware the "guy-jokes", lol.) We simply asked her if she had some exercises for diving. She taught us 6 or 8 different techniques' in just 4 classes. SO worth it!

Rob it was definitely great seeing you stay calm and try and get the other diver calm also!! It’s definitely great when you have someone that truly nos what to in an emergency for sure!!! That situation could have definitely went a different direction but it didn’t because someone absolutely new what they were doing for sure!!! Awesome video Rob and I definitely hope that someday I will get to catch some lobsters and eat them as fresh as you get to!!! People don’t realize that something that you work for and clean yourself and also have the chance at cooking something fresh is definitely way better than anything that you can get from your local grocery store and that is a fact!!!

True Words Rob! I still have my Padi card with my pic from 1995. Back in the day I was living in the same area you are now . Ft.Pierce, St. Lucie, Sebation, etc. I was a college kid and worked at the OG Tiki Bar at Ft. Pierce Marina. My buddy and I beached dived to make some beer money. Laundry bags full of sea dollars for the tourist shops, .25 cents each. Sea urchins for the Japanese restaurants and plenty of bugs for us and everyone..I digress, back to Padi. I havent dove in 20 years but wouldnt without a refresher course. Maybe PADI has a requirement now, I dont know, but they didnt back then. You did a great job with your buddy, keep calm No BCD's or he would have bolted im sure! at 80ft, he would probably been ok, but you did great, and I honor you for the CCC . Carry on! love the channel! Im a Mountian Man now, but Salt Life in my heart.
