One thing he left out is that a lot of the parents to Gen Alpha were super young when they started having kids, so they tend to try to be "friends" with there kids, over being a parent a lot of the time. Not saying it's bad to try to have a good relationship with your kids, but there are limits. They let their kids get away with everything when out in public and don't correct their wild behavior. I think Millienials are trying so hard to be opposite from their parents, that they are afraid to discipline at all. Yeah, they don't have to beat their kids, but damn do something. I see them running wild in retail stores all the time and the parents just keep shopping like they don't see it. They need to find a healthy middle ground, and at least teach their kids that it's important to be respectful when you're out around other people.

I’m 26 and know people my age and a few years older than I am with children and some of them are well mannered and some are not. The bottom line is that children should be children so parents should set boundaries and teach their children right from wrong so even if they mess up, they can’t say they weren’t taught. Homework is nonexistent, basic writing and sentence structure isn’t enforced for our 6th grader, and my 2nd grader doesn’t even get spelling tests. Gen Z here, we got a ton of problems too. Tho I think we’re (for the most part) self aware about it, and Gen Alpha isn’t old enough to be yet, but they will be. I also think since we’re predominantly raised by Gen Xers we have a different, more cynical outlook on life compared to millennials who were mostly raised by boomers. If things keep the way they are, I think Gen Alpha will grow up to resent their millennial parents the way Millennials disliked their boomer parents. Also, ranges vary, but Gen Z is predominantly known to be born between 1997-2012 (using the range of the pew research center). I sometimes use Gen Z to be anyone born anywhere between the late 90s/early 2000s to about 2014-ish.

As a millennial (born in 96) raised by gen X parents and have gen z younger siblings (2001-3), I think this gen alpha issue is an amalgamation of many things: poor education, unfiltered access to the internet, the pandemic, and permissive parenting. Since gen z, they’ve been dumbing down curriculum yet making it more tedious to do. The pandemic left kids out of classrooms during key academic learning periods, they were stuck with parents unable to properly monitor/teach them, and spent the majority of their time and attention online with unfiltered access. They mimicked everything they saw online and brought it back to the classroom, where (depending on their ages) they either never learned acceptable classroom behavior or have forgotten/didn’t care. Thus being disruptive and disrespectful en masse. When teachers bring this up to parents, the kids usually face 0 consequences because permissive parenting is on a all time high. This shouldn’t be mixed up with the term “gentle parenting,” permissive parents don’t set any boundaries with their kids, they overindulge them because saying “no” might “traumatize” them, they have little to no expectations towards how their child should behave and make excuses/cover up for their bad behavior. This might be an extreme example but think of all the criminals who have either murdered or brutally assaulted someone, where their parents have gone on camera berating their victims or saying it is impossible for their child to commit this crime despite the overwhelming evidence that they’ve been violent beforehand.

Every generation has something to say about the new generation so tbh I wouldn't read too much into it. The new age of technology only brings everything that has BEEN happening to light. Everyone in everyone's business so it's much easier to come up with the conclusion that the new generation is "worse" because you're able to come up with more examples. Social media is the sole source of such examples, but technology only gives us a glimpse into the lives of others. Also, older generations aren't on social media as much so the only examples you have of that generation is close family. Fewer examples may = weaker opinion. It is not an accurate representation of the generation as a whole. Also, speaking of sociology, if there is a pattern of behavior and struggles between generations, then this can be looked at as a society issue not just an era. Ask a sociologist if ya wanna know more about why they may be actin the way they are. Could be the economy or sum. Ion know💀
