I’m gen z and I find conversations like this ridiculous lol. Generational discourse in general is so weird. How does a generation, by definition, “all of the people born and living at about the same time, regarded collectively” how do ALL of them/us suddenly look old after years of people telling us we look like babies compared to young people 20-30-40 years ago? It all depends on how you live. I’m 21, about to be 22. People tell me I look young and sometimes mistake me for being a teenager.

Lol Gen Z does not look old. You can look at any high school yearbook from the past 10 years and the teenagers look like teenagers. Look at class photos from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, or even early 90s and the teenagers look like they're in their 30s. I believe it has to do with a lack of testosterone. You can boost testosterone by eating healthy, exercising, and going outside which has decreased insanely since the 2000s. Past generations went outside more, there wasn't fast food on every corner, they weren't on their phones all day. Nowadays you don't even have to leave your house if you want fast food or groceries. Everything done to make people more lazy has lead to a decrease in testosterone which not only makes us appear younger, but it's the main cause of obesity in America.

Aging is one of those things you know it's stupid to worry about because it WILL happen whether you like it or not (if you are lucky enough to live long) but its also something that is understandably on our mind often. Y’all have to remember that Gen Z grew up on platforms like KZfaq where the crème of the crop content creators were and are still Millennial. If the person I grew up on and looked up to dressed, had facial hair, did skincare, and makeup all in a certain way and is still doing KZfaq at the age of 35, why wouldn’t I copy their aesthetic if I can’t find people my age that are popping off taking up their mantle. If no one takes the mantle of the first time content creators on the internet that control the narrative in fashion, makeup and general looks, we could assume everyone who’s copying these undying faves will start to look the same. This whole conversation to me is just dumb because before social media existed I’m sure that if I were to have a certain lifestyle, or join a certain hobby that dressed a certain way my goal would be to not look odd in term of the group and dress in a way I’d fit in. What’s happening now is that most Millennials at the old age that they are can’t move up in life and are staying in the same social habits that they were in their 20s and for some reason can’t believe that as Gen Z ages the same spots that they should’ve left by now are being taken up by the same people they used to call kids not so long ago. All in all the spaces that should be for Gen Z now are crowded with millennials who can’t move up in life. Gen Z isn’t aging quickly at all, we’re all just starting to look the same as we copy from the same popular peoples fashion and aesthetic millennials should’ve left a while ago as they got into houses and switched out clubbing every night with some hobbies. So if a Gen Z’er were to look like the age of their favorite age 30+ Influencer or any millennial at this point it wouldn’t be because they look older. It just cause under that makeup, facial hair, etc is a properly aged person who dresses just like the Millennials. The same millennials that can’t give space to the newer generation because most of them are having fun the same way they had it 10 years ago.
