Yes the Hysteria In the round tour was great but unfortunately I don't recall them playing in the round at the Toronto concert I attended. Stage was a more traditional setup at one end of the CNE Grandstand. Tesla opened and kicked ass too. The date was June 11th 1988.

This is possibly my favorite Def Leppard song, and my favorite one to sing. The lyrics are very artistic, and I just love the beginning lyrics. “Somewhere in the distance. I hear the bells ring. Darkness settles on the town, as the children start to sing…” I’ve seen Def Leppard in the round twice in the 80’s. They’re my all-time favorite band.

Mine too. I love this song. As great as this performance/version is it always seemed just a little slow. Not bad by any means, but like just a half step slow to me, but that's just me. I could be wrong

I was there, twice for this tour. You have to realize, this shit was live! They had no autotune back then, and the harmonies are real. All of the harmonics that Steve and Phil pulled off are real. I play guitar and harmonics are hard to pull off correctly and they are doing it like it's nothing. It is amazing!

You mentioned about his vocals and the way the music is. In many interviews he credits the producer Mutt Lang for a lot of that as he pushed Joe Eliot on his singing. This is my favorite band and they still put on a good show to this day. This tour was probably my favorite as the stage was in the middle of the coliseum and there wasn't a bad seat in the house and the sound was awesome cause they didn't have to blast the speakers to reach the back. I will never forget the In the Round concert. Rock on People!!!

What really really sets this band apart from other bands of this genre during this time was that the entire band was singing and they knew how to sing! The drummer, the bassist and both guitarists sing backing vocals. Nothing more gets the spine chilling when you have incredibly talented guitarists that can swap between rhythm and lead in an instance and trade their roles just like that and also being able to add that CRUCIAL backing vocal skills that makes the rest of the sound even better. That more often than not is were legendary and good shows are set apart.

If you want to hear everything the Def Leppard embodies, listen to "Bringin' on the Heartbreak/Switch 625" ... technically these are two sperate songs, but to get the full Def Leppard experience they must be listened to back to back (as they are on the album... and as they were meant to be experienced)

This is the first reaction video of yours that I’ve watched, and I commend you on your comments! 👍🏼 Though a couple things you should make a note of: 1. Steve Clark (the lead guitarist in this song) sadly and tragically died just 3 years later of alcohol poisoning.(you didn’t mention it, so not sure you knew that.) This song was his baby, as is Bringing on the Heartbreak and Switch 625, which are also epic classics you should check out! 2. There were several shots of Rick Allen playing drums, and it should be noted that at age 21 he lost his left arm in a car accident just 3 or 4 years prior to this! He basically re-learned how to play drums with one arm, and did it while the band spent months in the recordings of Hysteria, one of the biggest albums of the 80’s and one of the most classic rock albums of all time! I’m pretty sure his is the greatest comeback story in rock history! But lastly, kudos for pointing out the lighters! There was nothing like it back in the day. It’s still cool with cell phones, but I’m sorry, not the same! I didn’t smoke, but I made sure to have a lighter with me at every concert! 🔥

I saw that tour in B'ham Alabama, fantastic show. Tesla were the openers, can't get much better than that!

This is way slower than the album version. This was when Steve Clark was in his drunk periods. He messed up in a lot of concerts.

For some reason this live version has a slow tempo the song actually is a little bit faster than that on the studio version

That was all planned. When you go to a good concert, the band shouldn’t sound exactly like the studio version. And if it does, you might be suspicious of lip singing, or tracks.

First leopard song I heard. It was on an album called live and heavy.. Brilliant album with Ian Gillian singing unchain your brain, Nazereth singing razzmatazz, Motorhead singing white line fever... Fastastic live album

Live in the round is the best version , slower heavier, vocals better, epic guitar solos and harmonics. And the epic solo outro with the feedback.

Other than the cymbals Rick's drum set was Simmons pads and Shark pedals connected to a rack of Akai sampler units. Terri Bozzio helped construct the live kit

The guitarist with the long blonde hair, is really talking about himself. Steve Clark will die in 1991. It sounds like a song about relationships. It's actually about not loving himself.

Fun fact: His jeans were naturally worn out, he didn´t buy them like that as people do today ;-)
