· The Mummy (1932): A team of British archaeologists led by Sir Joseph Whemple discover the mummified remains of the ancient Egyptian prince Imhotep, along with the legendary scroll of Thoth. When one of the archaeologists recites the scroll aloud, Imhotep returns to life, but escapes. Several years later, Imhotep has taken on the guise of a wealthy man, as he searches Egypt for his lost love, who he believes has been reincarnated as the lovely Helen Grosvenor.
· The Mummy (1999): Adventurer Rick O'Connell and Egyptologist Evelyn, along with a bunch of archaeologists, inadvertently wake up an evil mummy during an archaeological excavation at the ancient city of Hamunaptra.
· The Mummy Returns (2001): When an archaeologist couple's son finds the Bracelet of Anubis, it locks onto his wrist. A cult resurrects Imhotep, an evil Egyptian high priest, who needs the bracelet to defeat the Scorpion King.
· The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor (2008): After being asked to visit China with a precious relic, which can bring people back from the dead, Alex O'Connell discovers an ancient tomb and accidentally resurrects a mummy.
· The Mummy (2017): After Sergeant Nick and Corporal Chris call an air strike on an enemy stronghold, they stumble upon the tomb of Princess Ahmanet. The princess is set free and Nick has to fight for his life.

Damn. In the second movie you actually feel bad for the mummy when his “twin flame” runs away. He actually looks over at Evee after she saves her husband and they’re standing together and smiles.

I think 2001 (minus Scorpion King (Dwayne Johnson)'s CGI) comes close, plus Anck su Namun's feelings for Imhotep, which makes his death even more dramatic. 2008 and 2017 are trash imo

I remember seeing a film "Thalos, the mummy" with Jason Scott Lee. It came out a year before the film "The Mummy" by Brendan Fraser.

@@pma281 I’ve always hated it, the absence of Rachel Weisz in it is sure felt too. Maria Bello is a good actress, but you can’t replace Rachel as Evie. It was kind of strange with the China stuff too, it was overall just complete crap.

@@2H2521 as a kid, I didn't know the Mummy was a franchise, I learned about that years later. Now, this may sound funny, but the first Mummy movie I saw was the third one, I wonder why I bothered watching it... I didn't even know Maria Bello replaced Rachel Weisz when I was a kid either. Must have been her pregnancy at the time, as well as her commitment to other projects in her agenda. Given the third movie's quality and the sloppy script, I understand that Weisz made the righr choice. Bello could NEVER hold a candle to the former. The Mummy Returns deserved a better sequel set in Peru or Mexico, not China of all places, and I'm gonna explain why. Those legendary ancient Chinese terracotta warriors aren't even mummies btw. They're just statues of Qin Dynasty soldiers under Qin Shi Huang (the first emperor to unify China)'s command, buried underground in Xian, (Shaanxi Province, China). What's your take on this?
