For some reason i was a decent pilot on bf4 long time ago but in this game i feel like im a fish trying to fly

My favorite is when someones plane sensitivity isn't on 150% and they are trying chase me but crash into the ground or something because they can't take the turns as tight as me. The console experience.

When I have someone on my six I use these tactics but one thing that works well for me at higher altitudes is to dive down at a 45 - 60 degree angle and then hit the brakes and pull up causing the enemy to overshoot then quickly accelerate to prevent a complete stall and this lands me on the enemies tail.

It takes like 2 minutes to down an enemy plane and then it takes me 10 seconds to die

to win all dogfights you have to just be confident at flying fast/low use the terrain to stop the line of sight/close the gap then hit the brakes so hard you engage landing gear since your already low and in the engagement zone once they overshoot slam the accel and pull out then fire away. its weak tactics but it works 99 percent of the time imo if you know what your doing from previous titles.

I just used real life tactics, or actual tactics they used in the spitfire “Boom and zooming” at the beginning of the match I climb and usually gives me the advantages with more speed but i really love how each plane feels different and different maneuvers play differently on both sides

A really good strat is slam break and move in a up down position to slow yourself even more also dodging bullets. They will fly right by you and you follow them on their 6. I use it everytime and it works. Also forgot to say if you have engine boost it can take you out of that sluggish state immediately so i recommend using it.

I just wish I could stay alive long enough in a fuckin plane to level any of them up, the instant I hop into one, it gets torn to ribbons by either AA or some sweaty tryhard dogfighter, I do the maneuvers, it doesn't work, they all see it coming from a mile away. I used to be good at dogfighting too, wtf happened.

Thanks, that really helps. I need to get better at switching views quickly. Do you prefer the radar view? I guess it gives you much better situational awareness. I didn't realize that aircraft accelerate more slowly in bf5. I thought it would be the other way around since piston aircraft have better response to power changes than jets.

Here is one tactic I did not see coming!!! Using air break on a dive with a plane on your six even if you break you will still even over shoot unless you have dive Breaks which is only can be on a bomber or the annoying Stuker/ German medium plane. Which means the German planes could have an overwhelming advantage over you!

when im on the german team BF109 G2 is my choice using four 7.92 mm machine gun. i have a good success rating using a combination of these depending on the situation. breaks, reverse rudder, and instant repair (+30 health) i don't use smoke or radar.

I just go in circles and when the pilot on my tail gets used to just holding up on the joystick I go straight up in the air and because of the low fov on console they never notice then I go back down and now I’m on his tail I love doing this with the nitrous boost

I recently got into planes and dogfights how are you able to turn so well ? I’m mesmerized by the tactics of the plane and how fast it can get into a 90 degree angle I play on controller so any hints would be completely helpful keep up the great work

The easiest way to forget enemys in the six can be using a Stuka b2 with the heavy submachine guns. Pretty hard to shut down those bastards.

The biggest issue of being a pilot is you can't ever be as good as someone who's been a pilot since release you're dead before you even get practice you can't get gains I've landed maybe 50 hits ever on an enemy plane they always use some stupid crazy tactic and magically appear on my tail and destroy me or they have a buddy taking advantage of me being distracted it's really stupid there should be a game type specifically dedicated to dogfights

I’ve noticed that braking works better when you are closer to the ground on BFV. Fjell is great for it as you just hug the mountain sides and break....

i will add- low and slow? maybe not. low, yes. you are harder to see if you're skirting across the ground. if being chased, i'll typically do a couple flips and rolls, then 80% of the time am able to fly straight away flat to the ground. also you take a lot of their ability to aim accurately when they're dodging terrain. lastly, use knowing how your plane flies to your advantage. if they're tight to you, if you perform a loop and get as close to skimming the ground with your belly as you're able, they will have to either peel off or face plant the dirt. watch your rearview to see which way they go, then skim the ground in the opposite direction. this will allow you to run off, heal, then come back hunting. speaking of hunting, and turning away from evasive maneuvers- when hunting, i'll either go high or flat to the ground. hardly any pilots look up, especially when coming onto the field; they tend to ignore movement close to the ground, as they're used to seeing smoke, vehicles, explosions, etc. if they see nothing mid level, they just attack infantry. by staying flat to the ground or high to the ceiling, you'll see them before they see you, which gives you the ultimate advantage. one final note: ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS support your wingman!!!! if you take out the planes trying to take him out, he'll be able to do the same (still strive to be good enough to take on 2 planes at once, though). If you have more than one enemy in the air, focus on dogfighters first, mosquitos and the quick blenheim second, THEN slow bombers last. it is SOOOO easy when the enemy sees 1) you in a dogfighter and 2) a teammate in a bomber, then attack the bomber, because he's an easier kill. Taking out the attack planes first is like eating the cake and then coming back for the frosting (the bombers being the frosting). the bombers aren't a challenge. you don't want to start chasing a bomber, commit, then feel your ass being filled with hot lead. plenty of time for bombers after the field is stripped of threats

Equip high altitude fly at an incredibly steep angle ( 80-120 degrees) and completely ignore them. It’s situational but it’s saved my skin quite a lot

I'm a pilot and fly small commuter aircrafts. They don't teach combat maneuvers but I played this game a few times as my son played battlefield 5 and Had asked me if I can play as a pilot and see if I can use any "plane flying techniques". Some Maneuvers do work but it's a game and the physics and aerodynamics are a challenge as they don't feel realistic. The slowing down in this game is drastic and unrealistic in a combat situation but I fly small planes that it's never a good idea to do that unless In an emergency landing at low altitude. Had fun playing but it was too much for me.

So when an enemy slows down u use your momentum to come back around behind them because they won't be able to pull away fast enough but when u slow down and encounter some1 that uses the momentum to their advantage what do u do??? Also can u give your thoughts on the NOS in the G2 do u think its good as in if I slowed down for my enemy to overshoot is it strong enough for me to gain speed to reach back behind him or is it a waist?

i hate the braking strat. the amount that these planes slow to should cause them to fall out of the sky. i know its a video game but, holy shit, for a game trying to tout its "accuracy" this is a far cry from air combat. ive seen people pull this crap at 50m off the ground and pull out likes its no big deal. i really wish there was a game aside from "warthunder" that would offer some decent air combat.

Had this one dogfight at Arras, this guy chased me so I went straight to the church tower while spamming smoke. I think he was too focused on me because he crashed at the tower after I evaded last second lol the smoke really help

Could you do some comparisons between the Spitfire and BF109s? Right now it feels like the the Spitfire is so far superior to the BF109s that it's not worth flying fighters if your playing Axis.

very nice, I remember when the planes physics used to be good in old BF franchises. Hopefully DICE bring back the old physics or come out with a better plane physics than BFV.

Low flying is actually one of the best tactics to shake a inexperienced pilot.

Great tutorial. First time i watched this, i couldnt absorb it. But after spending many hours and getting most of my planes to level 4, I now have the experience to interpret this, but still have yet to practice this. A lot of bombers would just fly straight up vertical and use rear turret on my fighter. So I started doing that on my fighter too and just pull up break stall, but this speed adjustment plus looping is very pro

Using terrain to break line of sight can make it a defensive move because they don't see you make a course change or what ever to get back on the attack.

Can't do it when my life depended on it. Been playing combat flying simulators all my life, there is not enough difference in speed and there is no flight envelope. It feels cheap. Can't look into my turns like a proper pilot it's all guesswork. It's not my thing but to each his own, as long as you have fun.

Question: is the air brake supposed to just be throttle down?

A lot of this could be fixed if they just buff all of the specializations. High altitude, Nitrous, and control surfaces being buffed would bring more defense tactics. Imo

I really enjoyed flying in BF1. It seems like they tried to go more realistic in BFV and its not worked to well in my opinion as the dogfights ironically seem to have become more simplistic.

When I see someone smoke and brake on me, I swoop around and take em out.

How to do brake? I thought that all you do is pull back on the throttle but that just make me an easier target. And the controller guide in game doesn't clearly state which button is for braking

Fly in a straight line and only do rudder turns couse you don’t show your wings and they have to hit the smallest part of the plane wich is the tail only works on fighter planes tho if you have a wingmen they can take the plane out

The best defence I've found is to fly when you've got a level 400 as ya wing man. They pretty much kill all the opposition 👍

I really wish Battlefield wouldn't have such a stupid mechanic as plane breaking when flying straight or worse, when pitching down... it's so unrealistic! The only way to lose speed as a plane is to cut down the engine and use speed bleeding maneuvers (ex. climb or turn sharply), or to use special flaps or air brakes that just increase drag but doesn't brake per say... The flight physics in this game is a bit weird sometimes... like how you're not plain stalling as you almost slow down to a stop.

When someone brakes and I realise that i ll pass him, i hit some shots then ram him 😂😂 most of those stallers get the two wings, rudders and motor broken. Then I come back and finish 👍👍👍
