Honestly the tough thing is trying to level up your plane when everyone else is maxed out. That is what I am struggling with ATM.

Am i the only one who finds that plane's engine sound as it goes down so satisfying?

I can't stand when the team you're on just allows the enemy team to have air superiority without even a challenge. Too often, I find myself the only one flying against enemy planes, and since I have no wingman to help, I'm outnumbered and outgunned every time.

Boom & Zoom tactics really only works on the game that have a realistic aircraft physics because you are usually engaging from above of your enemy. You attack and let the mass , gravity and thrust to gain additional speed to escape, climb up and rinse and repeat. Unlike war thunder for example. BFV aircraft maximum speed is set to stone so engaging an enemy with the same type as yours or the turn fighter grants a pretty small chance of surviving that engagement.

Crashers, Bailers, and AA sitting in uncap, things that are entirely beyond your control, and incredibly annoying. And with the Mosquito specifically, they need to leave bombs on when you select rockets, the 20mm can't do anything substantial to ground AA, and the bombs themselves(tested this) can't kill an AA tank in one go, but if you had both you have a fighting chance against the mobile AA.

Step 1 to dog fighting in battlefield 5, fly a bomber Step 2 when the enemy gets on your tail switch seats and blow them out of the sky Step 3 go back to demolishing ground targets and be prepared for salty players to spend the entire game camping in an AA once they realise they can't shoot you down with a plane.

dog fighting is really garbage in this game honestly after playing something like war thunder it's just terrible. Basically impossible to shake someone behind you if they're decent. The only people you'll be shaking are people who can't fly. The only two tactics that have a small chance of getting someone off your tail is stopping mid air nearly stalling or flying super close to the ground hoping they'll hit something. If i'm directly behind someone 9/10 they're not getting away alive this just makes plane game play super lame

No wonder, basically the only real dogfighting tip was the braking, because there is nothing more. Bf5 has the shittiest plane physics in this decade. If the enemy don't fall for the braking, you are dead. The player behind always wins if it's not a beginner noob. Don't try to scissor or turn faster and slower, it's useless. Bf1 air combat was a different league compareted to this crap.

How to win a dogfight? Fly a Spitfire VA with 8 MGs! That's all

The gameplay is incredibly satisfying and fun, and it has unparalleled realism, Ray tracing is an impressive technology (despite the ridiculous prices of the new cards). boom and zoom works well for planes like the mosquito. the quad 20mm upgrade can shred fighters. the issue is getting the drop on them. thanks to the spawn screen you can easily see high altitude planes

Hey, I just wanted throw in my tips and feedback with flying in this game. I've got to level 50, 20 with every class and mained planes in my 200 hours on the game. I've killed more than 1000 enemies with planes. If you want really useful advice (besides this great video) watch Silk's and Niccaman KZfaq videos. RE Tips: I'd respectfully disagree with Level and say bind pitch up to spacebar. Fly with a wingman or ground support and communication is key. Use your chase camera (rear view) a lot, its good for checking if you're being chased and when pulling up from a strafe, it helps acquire new ground targets. When in first person in a plane, I'd suggest using right mouse for freelook and left shift for zoom. When using the spitfire VA the 8 machine guns specialisation is king. BF109 G2 benefits from keeping the default guns. Both are especially good for dogfightings and ground strafes. The spitfire's bombs are okay for engaging fixed AA but not much more. The BF109 G6 can take out bombers with its rockets and reign terror. When engaging from the rear of an enemy plane (the optimal position) wait till you have a good engagement distance for the convergence of the rounds and time them. With the german team, aim for the wings and then the fuselage. The german planes are still fairly maneouverable without wings. So just aim for the centre mass. Generally, ive found the larger calibre rounds and rockets with the VB and and G6 fighters to be better suited for taking on the bombers. The Spitfire VA and BF109 G2 shreds fighters if you can time a full burst from behind. Just be wary of overheating your guns (this where the VB and G6 shine, because you can switch to their secondary guns). The G6 and VB struggle to hit the ground targets with their main weapons but their secondaries are better. RE Feedback: as is previously noted by other people. The main issues with the aerial gameplay in this game are the AA, bail pilots, the loading screen glitches and the neutering of the bombers. I do understand that DICE are attempting to balance a game where the vast majority of players are infantry and heavily dislike enemy aircrafts. That being said, the AA doesn't have an altitude that its ineffective at. Also, on a lot of maps, the fixed and mobile AA can reach nearly everywhere. Especially from spawn. For example, E on Fjell and B/spawn on the german team on Arras. I don't think you should be able to bail from aircrafts as the pilot, there are too many people using planes as taxis. If DICE are concerned that people will spawn too many bombers and dominate the ground, return to BF4's method of having for example, 2 fighters and 1 bomber on the deployment screen. Id say that the bomb resupply time makes the stuka B1, arguably a better bomber than the Junkers and the British are better off using the Spitfire VB for ground attacks. All the best. TELawerence

If you want to high level dogfight, you must have rudders on a keybind. It makes a huge difference in cutting and countercutting. Someone who's ruddering at least half decent will always get the advantage on you

I love how absolutely weak and useless bombers are, just like in Bf1 after the May 2017 patch when AAs and fighters got buffed, real fun

Gave this control scheme to dice in a bf4 early studio playtest and they still have not made it default ... way better for new players to get driving/ flying right

it takes a while to get used too, but you never should have your firing buttons on the same input (joystick or mouse) as you are aiming with. Pulling the trigger can sometimes disrupt aim. try switching your throttle buttons to left/right mouse buttons and use space as your main weapons. I learned this in mechwarrior online

Pretty sad that the vehicles and planes from a game made in 2002 are better than the vehicles and planes in BFV.

My play style in the air tends to be that I keep the enemy planes down and let my team do the rest. My tip dogfighting is that if you are on the tail of an enemy stay there until you've shot down that enemy, if you don't do that it will come back to bite you on the ass, and also try to be as hard to hit as possible if you're lucky the enemy will give up, and you can get on his tail.

When I'm looking for an engagement I like to fly high near the ceiling so I'm above most other aircraft. Most of them really don't look up. When I see someone I can dive on them and usually end up right on their tail if I maneuvered it right. Then I let loose my guns when I have a good shot. If they survive it turns into a turning fight until either I win or they get away an I climb again. This game doesn't have realistic air combat, but diving does give you a speed and maneuverability boost so diving behind an enemy plane is a good way to start an engagement. Planes are slow and sluggish if they try to climb up so the plane with the height advantage has more room to be maneuverable.

If you need to know the best overall aircraft in the game, it’s the spitfire with 8 machine guns and dual 250 pound bombs. Deals the most dps against aircraft, 8 machine guns also shred infantry, and you carry half the payload of a bomber.

Sure wish I could afford to upgrade my planes. 300 or less Company Coin per day makes it pretty damn tough to get those 1200 cc final tiers.

Makes me miss bf4 jet fights and air superiority tbh. Seemed like there was more room to get someone off of your 6. Tough to get a good pilot off of you if hes in the right spot. Sometimes a suicide loop into the ground or whatever you call it, sometimes works when you rotate out of the loop before crashing and hope the enemy didnt react in time, if you get that far that is

I have roll and yaw on the mouse. Means all fine movements are on the mouse and pitch and dive on keyboard

that is a really interesting moues/keyboard setup for flying. seems like a great alternative to controller. I actually like using mouse and keyboard for helos. are there even any helicopters in bfV?

Easy solution to the bailout problem, just make there be a delay to eject (like 2-3 second delay once you press the eject button). Or you hold your button down to eject.

Can you go back and look at the Crysis series. I recently bought the whole franchise and all these years later, the games still look fantastic.

Mini tip: Don't use yaw to turn left and right. Roll your plane around 90 degrees and then pull down to turn.

My biggest problem with planes is with how strong 8xMG spitfire is versus anything else. That thing is able to kill other fighters / bombers / infantry in few bursts while having best perk combinations out of any fighter. Also nitro should be on resource bar just to make dogfights more interesting and change old perk into faster recover time for nitro.

Honestly I used to spam planes in BF3 and BF4 because it was real fun, and you had a lot of fighting options, may they be offensive or defensive. In BFV, you get an enemy plane on your tail, that's it you're done. Not really fun imo, it's all about timing and not tactics anymore. Also maps are really flat in BFV, unlike in modern days BF were you have buildings you can slalom between to try to avoid a fight you're losing. All in all the flying experience in BFV needs some tuning

I'm starting a little late on the BFV piloting.. I'm finding it hard to get the level 50 pilots off my tail. Its hard to get any practice to be better when I'm shredded as soon as a plane looks at me. In BF1 I never had an issue losing tails..

If you want to learn virtual dogfighting you should try DCS or IL2. Trying to get a goo virtual dog fighting experience in these arcade games is like trying to get a decent meal at McDonalds.

Reason why aircraft feels crap to a lot of people, is that they lack weight and it just feels wrong when flying. This is likely because it's supposed to be easy for newcomers / controllers to control. They could really learn something from war thunder when it comes to feel / flight mechanics.

I’ve found the Stuka with the HMG upgrade to chew through literally everything. It’s unfair.

Quick Tip on boom and zoom: Try to reach very high altitudes for more IAS and dive down onto your opponents. Use the energy gained from the dive to swing your aircraft back up and into high altitudes again

Bomber passenger guns need a buff. They have no chance against a maxed out BF-109 or Mosquito. BF1 got the aerial balance right, I think.

Is it me or are the defensive guns for the bombers useless? Each shot is doing about 2 damage, the bombers model covers up most of the viewing space with one of the planes having a metal bar above your head so that blocks sight as well and if i don't hit EVERY shot we get taken out in a single pass.

You forgot what I'd say is the most important tip: Don't engage enemy bombers when enemy fighters are in the sky. Try to eliminate your own greatest threats before going for easy kills. At the end of the day, the fighter will cut you down in about 10 seconds if you're caught off guard and a bomber will never be able to shoot you down except from its defensive guns. Pick your targets and you'll spend more time in the air.

Planes feel awful in this game. I’m sure I could also get much better but I’ve always considered myself a strong pilot in bf3/bf4. I don’t even want to get in planes anymore, it just feels boring and like I could be doing so much more for the team on the ground.
