So many people forgot that Kyuhyun almost died during SuJu's car accident back in 2007. The doctor literally said there was no way, funeral was almost prepared for him, he was on his death bed fighting to stay alive at the age of only 19. Him being able to breathe right now is a miracle and I'm sure he's able to relate to this song a lot.

Breathe’s message...I love how every masked singer who sang it had a different feeling to it. Sohyang’s version and the way she sang it brought comfort and hope. Han Donggeun’s was desperation and almost frustration. Kyuhyun’s version was regret and sorrow. Each one sang it so well and they all left me in tears. Jonghyun, you did well :,)

I guess this was the only way he could pay tribute to an old precious friend, without the whole world watching him. Wearing that mask, i can tell it gives you the sense of personal space. And he needed that to comfortably sing jonghyun's songs and truly immerse himself in it. He didn't want the world to see the sadness in his expressions, but he wants the world to hear him sing the songs.. You did well, kyuhyun.

It's interesting how with the 'Bob Ross' masked man, he sang the song very differently. He was acting as the friends/family that are angry at the person who committed suicide. Angry at the person that they didn’t talk to them. Angry at themselves that they couldn’t do anything about it. When he practically screams asks what was I supposed to do, he is heartbroken. While Kyuhyun, who Jonghyun was his closest friend, he sings it as a 'it's okay.' Like he is accepting Jonghyun's reason for dying. Like when he sang "it's alright it's alright it's alright. I'll hold you. You really did a good job." From what Kyuhyun said, he's been trying really hard to forgive himself for Jonghyun's passing. He was in the military for his mandatory enlistment so he wasn't able to truly say goodbye and go to the funeral like the other member. But, through this performance, Kyuhyun isn't doing it to win. He is telling his precious hyung that he did very well and their friendship's gonna last forever. With this mask on, however silly it may look, it is what is - a mask. With this mask, Kyuhyun can probably freely cry (you can tell he is in certain parts) and have a sense of personal space. He needed that space to comfortably sing the song and immerse himself in it. He didn't want the world to see his emotional expression or his tears.

He’s a wall that need to be passed by any idols who want to brand as a talented vocal. His technique is on another level and he knows exactly what he wants his sound to be and that, for a vocalist, prove his maturity. He doesnt stray from his style which is a detailed and dynamic straighforward ballad singing which is quite rare these days among korean singers who has this tendecy to belt really high over and over again (sometimes straining) and reach low notes by whisper and half breath sound. I’m not saying those singers are bad but I just like Kyuhyun’s style even tho sometimes ppl may think it’s more boring, but the way he stays to that style and keep perfecting his craft is admirable and on top of that, his voice itself is a pure gem, so pleasant to the ears. I’m a fan for sure.

I don't know, it's just my personal thought. I think when Jonghyun wrote this song, it was actually the way he convinced himself that it's okay to be imperfect sometimes, that he actually could take a rest for a bit. And when he gave Lee Hi this song, he actually wanted to say that "Hey, I might not exactly understand your condition, but I think we are having similar experience, and I hope this song can help you go through your difficulty too". But when Kyuhyun sang it, it feels like he tried to say, "I have been in this condition before and I have been able to get through it so I hope you will be able to go through it too." I haven't read any interviews or fan theories concerning this song, but I believe the message it carries is so powerful and I hope more people who listen to it will feel helped.

I don't know why but something in the way he sang the last part of the song tells me he was tearing up behind that mask (idk theres something about his little breath at the end of the two last lines that were kind of shaky) and I love it, because he delivered it genuinely and got mixed with his own story of this song and what it means to him and that what makes an artist. The ability of interpreting another artist's song (coming to an understanding of what the artist was feeling or thinking, bringing them feelings through life through lyrics) and how powerful is when you add your own story to the already told story and make people experience a new insight of what haven't been told. Idk if someone gets me. I'm just glad he is able to touch people's hearts like this because is not about winning but empathizing and connecting, because people tend to rely on music and artists because they sing and bring to life the feeling that we as listener can't put into words, so we let them tell our own personal story through theirs. Its amazing

As a singer this Jinie has it all. From technique, pitch, timing, and a sweet powerful voice. He’s not overdoing it and just delivered perfectly every time. I’m torn between wanting him to win or wanting him to take off that damn mask and see everyone’s shock reaction lol.

Knowing that Kyuhyun is on a higher level singing, is a given. Hearing him sing the song sweet Jonghyun wrote, had to make him feel like a miracle. I was crying throughout, but when he sang "You really did a good job" I'm still sobbing. That was a direct message. It's still heartbreaking. I wasn't even a fan at the time, but, it's so very sad.
