I love Mei, I love her story, her design and of course Snowball. I HATE playing against her, she just freezes you in place and gives you a smug little headshot.

This one's definitely up there for me, just because of that darker impact. There's nothing quite as terrifying as finding out you're on your own and that your friends are gone. So Mei overcoming that and truly making a move is really inspiring

Mei is Chinese, and is a member of Overwatch's science team. She, along with Winston and Tracer, is one of the most altruistic members of Overwatch, wanting only to help people. Ingame she is an absolute NIGHTMARE to play against. Being constantly frozen and getting headshot by icicles is so intensely frustrating I don't know how to tell you lol. Blackwatch was the covert ops division of Overwatch. McCree, Genji, Moira, and Reaper were all members of it, taking on vital missions that needed to be kept out of the public's eye for PR reasons. One of the team member's was named MacReady (you can see it when they all malfunction), an easter egg shoutout to the film The Thing, which also took place in Antarctica.

Much anguish before the happy ending. Mei goes through a lot, and still has a bubbly personality. Wonderful!

The character in this is called Mei, fun character to play as well, as you can use her ice gun to freeze enemy players, or put up an ice all to block enemy players.

Since I don’t think they explain in any of the shorts, blackwatch was basically overwatch’s covert ops unit. Usually used for their “less than legal” missions.

Mei the most adorable person imaginable in the cinematics....in game she is the devil and a source of pure hate and vitriol; she induces only rage. To answer the question you all had at the start about her accent, Mei is Chinese.

Mei may be the most cheerful person in the game despite her back story. She is a scientist like Winston. Personally one of my favorite origins and Mei is one of my favorites in the game too. I love that y'all enjoy the videos so much. Also she is Chinese

you can actually visit the place ingame and if you do it with mei she utters a line that is quite emotional. Also if soldier 76 is with her in any mission he can start a short conversation "Ah Dr. Zao, nice to see you again, is captain Opara fine?" "...No" "I understand, a shame he was a great man" "he also held you in high regards"

I would highly recommend after finishing all the shorts and Overwatch 2 trailer (after shorts) checking out the vids on utube of Overwatch voice actors at Blizzcons doing some of their character lines for audience. Is awesome, you can se what all the voice actors look like and they are very talented people.

10:30 See, there's the one part of "Rise and Shine" that I _really_ worry about. If you're in Antarctica, the Sun is _always_ going to be somewhere to the North. And in Antarctica, the shortest way to get to the coast - where you can catch a ship out of Antarctica - is if you go North. But Mei's walking with the Sun at her _back,_ meaning that she's walking _South,_ deeper into the heart of Antarctica. We don't know where exactly the Ecopoint base is, so we don't know how far South she'll have to walk to find a manned base with an airfield. Most of the research stations in Antarctica are near the coast (like McMurdo Station, Neumeyer Station or Davis Station), and only Vostok Station and Amundsen-Scott Station are further inland. And Antarctica's a pretty good-sized continent, with about 800 miles from the South Pole to the nearest ocean. So unless Ecopoint isn't very far north from Vostok, Mei could end up walking *_hundreds of miles_* across Antarctic wasteland in freezing temperatures, all the way to the Amundsen-Scott Station at the South Pole. Ask Robert Falcon Scott how horribly _that_ could go wrong. I hope that Mei packed a metal drinking cup, a hotplate and a whole lot of sack lunches. O_O (Apologies for my intimate knowledge about - and fascination with - Antarctica; I have "Set foot on Antarctica" on my Bucket List, you see. Too bad it costs about $8,000 a day to visit Antarctica...unless you're a scientist with one of the research stations, of course. Fat chance of me getting _that_ job, alas!) (Two more neat facts: There are *_two_* ATMs in Antarctica; they're both located in McMurdo Station, and they're both managed by Wells Fargo, but one of the ATMs is usually broken. I was never a big Overwatch player when the game came out because I just suck at shooters. Even with the quirks of OW gameplay I still sucked so it did diminish my investmet. That said the thing that pulled me in and the thing that still has me keeping OW bookmarked on AO3 is the characters. The thing the sticks out to me now is just how many Scientists there are on the roster. Winston and Mei yes but there are at least 2 more off the top of my head, as well as inventors and engineers. And I kind of love that. It's also impressive how many nationalities are covered. From Mei being Chinese, to Widowmaker who is French (as if the accent didn't telegraph that one ) to characters from Brazil, Egypt, Russia and I think at least one fictional country (don't quote me on that one I may very well be misremembering) and at probably a dozen others that I don't want to start just listing. The characters have kept me coming back to OW fanfiction and they were the reason the announcement that OW2 will have a story mode had me hyped when it was made and still keeps me hoping.

This is one of my top favorites, though the Overwatch 2 video is pretty awesome.
