Now Carol left with the Skrulls back in 1995 and she said that she was gonna find them all a brand new home. Two years later they still haven't been given one but Fury says they can stay on Earth if they help out him and shield. They're gonna become his spies, hit the thumbs up button and work for him as soldiers so he can get something back.
Now if we look at the comics we can actually see why The Skrulls wanted to take earth and make it their new home. During the Kree Skrull war Skrullos was destroyed and thus they looked to find a new place located in the Universe. Tarnax IV had become their capital but still they didn't feel like it was where they really belonged.
Now the comics had several ancient prophecies that predicted what would happen with the species and when you hear them you'll understand why they thought that Earth was theirs. The first was that Galactus would destroy the planet and this came to be alongside the Kree Skrull War.
The next part of the prophecy said that they'd make their home a blue planet and with Earth being a focal point that's where they set their sights.

Known as Klara, she takes the name Priscilla and becomes fully integrated with us humans along with several others. Bringing children into war is big no no, but it shows that there's no bounds and his top priority is the entire earth's security." What the fuck does that mean!?! Is Fury's wife a Skrull?

That scene with Rhodey and Fury was INCREDIBLE! Now that Rhodeys eyes have been opened despite what he said he will not be able to ignore the signs that Fury is right. The world has been compromised, and Fury is the only one who can save it. This episode definitely set up Super Skrulls and then accumulating DNA for their “harvest” of collected powers to replicate. 10/10 Marvel.

brutality? your mind would be fuckin' blown if you saw the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers choreography. if it's not green blood, it's lots of sparks! has the world gotten so soft in 10 years where Secret Invasion presents the "Next Level" in anything? it's engaging enough to be interesting. it's fast enough not to be boring and it doesn't rush a sullen moment when it's needed... but that's just good film making. next level? PageMaster is next level. 12 Monkeys is next level The Simpsons & Futurama Crossover is next level. 233 people liked this bland, half empty acknowledgement and none of them will agree on what it was, but they know it's "next level"... have you tried chocolate?

Loving this show so far. If the remaining 4 episodes are the same quality as the first 2, it will definitely take the top spot as my new favourite MCU show. I just hope it gets the praise it deserves. I can never understand why people call shows like this boring. I think those people either don't understand tension or more likely they just have short attention spans. The problem is if shows like this don't perform well, then the MCU will just keep sticking to the same cookie cutter formula which in turn will cause there to be a serious MCU fatigue. I think this is a show that non comic or MCU fans could easily enjoy

Yeah, after the abomination of She-Hulk, I'm not in good terms with Marvel. Then GOTG 3 came out, Marvel have my trust again. This show is underrated. Shame on Marvel and Disney for not giving it a proper promotion.

I'm glad you mentioned Windrush. My family is from St. Vincent and we were very disheartened to hear what was going on there. My dad and I kept up with it on BBC. While our family members were OK, they knew others who were deported. I can see how the show and these real-life events are very similar.

@25:50 I think it messes up G'iah cos while Gravik and his buddy where rescuing their guy, she got out the car, called the police and gave them the safe house location. Gravik only killed the guy cos it looked like he talked and gave up the location (although I do also think Gravik knows G'iah has betrayed them)

As someone who loves big budget CGI films, I genuinely appreciate Marvel for allowing this series to be a slow paced, spy thriller with great dialogue and character development. G’iah discovering the different alien species Gravik is researching, Sonya’s interrogation scene was great and Fury having a Skrull wife was a really good reveal 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Also, I love how Groot, Extremis, Cull and the Frost Giant monster are semi references to the Fantastic Four and since MoM has established that there’s at least 1 version of the team in the multiverse, it’d be cool if we met at least 1 or 2 members of the team in this show. My head theory is the scientists named the Daltons are actually Reed and Sue just using an alias. I’m sure it won’t happen, but it’d great to see lol.

Great episode! I was annoyed by a continuity error but I may be wrong. When Olivia's character is finally alone with the skrull, she closes the door and puts a bar on a bolted on hook to delay someone entering. Later, after Gravik and his team blow the door, the door just falls down with NO hook on the door (and no bar to slow their entrance).. Plus they didnt even go after her, so it seemed like a waste to add that to her scene.

This was a really good episode. I have a ton of questions, like, is Fury married to a Skull that he thinks is a human? The acting was really good as well. That torture scene was very well acted by the prisoner. Made me look away at points. I loved when Rodey shut Fury down with his, "because we're both black doesnt mean I have to go along with your crazy plans". "Young Alicia Keyes, Got Damn!" Lol

The 4 super powers are the MCU'S version of the F4 as they are not there yet. Groots stretch arm (Mr Fantastic), Hammer fist/ Clobber time (The Thing) from Cull Obsidian, Frost Giant turn invisible Loki (invisible Woman) and Extremis fire (The Human Torch). What u think???

The ending of the first episode is really bad ass because the 3 people Gravik turned into were all people Fury saw or encountered throughout episode 1 which was Gravik letting Fury know "Yes I've been watching you since the second you put your feet back on Earth and I could've killed you if I wanted, but I have something else planned for you..."

Great breakdown of the episode when I heard Gravik was making them stronger, the scene with him with Groot-like extensions made a link with seeing his DNA, which they gathered in Guardians Vol.1. Amazing continueity and also perfect description about the Windrush scandal.

This episode was the best episode that I have seen so far in an MCU show. I may be a little biased about that, but with having Sam as an executive producer on the show, I think that he is doing an extraordinary job communicating real-world issues. Every scene that Sam was in made a valid point about the state of human existence on Earth, lamenting the fact that humans often do not get along with other in their own species, let alone extraterrestrial aliens. Even before Fury gets into all that, I was wondering how Skrulls actually chose their looks. Given the history of our world, I would imagine how human skin color played a role in whose look was chosen. I did notice that many of the Skrulls chose a look on the lighter end of the color spectrum of humans, with the exception of several characters with significantly more melanin than others. (And this isn't to bash the casting directors necessarily.) It begs the question: Did the Skrulls research the history of humans before choosing a look? Because, given our history, a lot of immoral, unethical, and unjust things have happened to people of color throughout time and space on Earth. So, why would the Skrulls think that their prophecy was talking about Earth when there are millions (possibly billions) of humans on this planet that have some kind of personal vendetta against people who do not have light skin? I think that this invasion is an allegory about how some humans tend to create reasons to hate people, and those reasons often begin with superficial observations - like skin color. Factor that into the idea of another humanoid species with GREEN skin "invading" Earth - but originally came to Earth as refugees. Now we have a whole new demographic to worry about in terms of human rights and decency.

I remember predicting that Nick Fury's wife would be in this series way back when the first teaser trailer was released, however I did not expect her to be a Skrull herself. I'm thinking one of the reasons Nick Fury seemingly forgot his promise to find the Skrulls a new home was not only to buffer SHIELD's espionage credibility as a spy network, but also a personal "selfish" cause to keep Percilla on Earth.

25:18 don’t worry Paul, I’ve been having the same dilemma wondering if the clothes are just Skrull skin or not 😂😂. I try to ignore it but then I see in this episode during the 1997 flashback, the skrulls already have human clothes and just transition their skin! Still love the show regardless 😂😂

25:04, Captain Marvel demonstrated early on that Skrulls use external technology (specifically in the form of devices implanted onto their bodies) in order to replicate accessories and other equipment while their biology allows them replicate the forms and attributes of others. It’s how Gravik had a functional copy of Fury’s handgun to shoot Hill with, meaning their replicas are just as detailed and accurate as the originals just as Skrulls mimic other beings down to their genetic signature. If there’s still confusion over how that’s possible, it should be noted that most characters at this point are equipped with the ability to manifest all sorts of constructs, usually either through sone form of technology (usually nanotechnology) or some kind of magic or other supernatural power.

My favorite thing about this show so far are the stark differences with how espionage is shown. Compare this to the black widow movie- the first two episode brought more of the spy world on than BW ever did. Nick Fury 1000%

I am actually very excited for the LMD twist you're hinting it if it comes true, given I love Agents of SHIELD would much rather have it be finally canonized by the MCU mainstream since that show more than deserves it, I also watched your s7 breakdown of the show and I you did appreciate the show for what it was. Also the LMD arc would be drawn from the AoS season 4 which in my opinion is the single best piece of Marvel Television ever so too excited for this theory to play out.

You and me both. As much as I love AOS I don’t think LMDS will show up on this show. I think Marvel is trying to get people to watch the show and also because of the huge parallels between this show and the earlier seasons of AOS. Both Skrulls and Hydra have some similarities. Not to mention Fury also showed up in AOS, so I think this is just marketing. In previous mcu releases when a movie or show comes out, usually the recommendation section includes all the media in which that character has appeared in. I learnt to manage my expectations especially with Wandavision when everyone was so convinced Mephisto was in the show. Never again 🤣

I agree too Season 4 of AOS is by far one of the best pieces of Tv. Up there with the boys, punisher and daredevil. I could be wrong too, and maybe marvel wants to incorporate elements of AOS.

@@iangregory1735 I think a lot more is going on than we think. But it would be messed up to have 2 kinds of people-mimicking species (skrulls & LMDs) introduced/explored in one series. I do love AoS a lot, and would love to see it canonised as well.

Skrulls can obviously grow clothes…as seen when Talos changes in the train for instance. His clothes changed, too.

@@johnreese7973 I don’t think they remove the clothes they “create”. I think they just morph them into other clothes or skin or whatever. I would think the only clothes they would lose would be ones they actually donned instead of “grew”.

Man, Paul. This episode was 🔥 that the skrull Council was not something I was expecting. The actors and actresses they chose for this show are incredible. But the actor that's playing gravic his performance is so sincere. Can't wait for next week.

I think we’re missing (could just be me) that our tortured Skrull never coughed up the safe house, but it was blown nonetheless. Presumably, this was G’iah, making our tortured Skrull’s execution for blabbing all the more brutal.

That was my interpretation as well. When she left Beto in the car I think she was on the phone at one point, I assumed she was calling the police or whoever to give up the safe house. Edit: she did use the phone when she left the car and I believe she was speaking Russian. She almost certainly called the police and told them the location of the safe house.

I loved the episode, but one major issue I found was the aerial shot of Brixton. It is supposed to be 1997, but the skyline has buildings that did not exist for for 20+ years.

I think the timeline which Rodey mentioned finding out about Skrulls (at a presentation 15 years ago) about lines up with right around the time of Iron Man 2 (not that the movie came out 15 years ago but since the MCU timeline is a little in the future it’s about line up). If he is revealed as a Skrull that’d be interesting if that’s when they choose to say he was captured since it lines up with Rodey being recast.

When Rhodey's skrull security guard grabs Fury, Fury asks "Are you seriously under the impression that because you strip me of my titles, I relinquish my DNA?" I'm wondering if Fury thinks this Rhodey is a skrull who got him fired or maybe even lied about him being fired so that they can remove him from the picture. If he found out about the skrulls 15 years ago (around the time of Iron Man 1 or 2) then he's at least been hiding his relationship with them for a long time. Between reporting Fury and Hill AWOL (after refusing Ross' order to arrest the Secret Avengers in Endgame), threatening to carpet bomb a foreign nation over a side eye and (after his talks with Sam in TFATWS) downplaying his kinship with Fury as Black men, this just doesn't seem like Rhodey.

Well in all fairness Rhodey has been different since infinity war, he became a lot more straight forward and no nonsense with everyone (which I have enjoyed) and I don’t think he was down playing his kinship he was just stating that if he did favors for fury just because they are both black men they would be no better than those that came before, I personally hope he isn’t a skrull I really enjoyed his conviction in the few moments he has shown up since endgame.

@@hunternicholson9953 in all fairness he is talking to the man who started the Avengers. It's not a favor just because they're both Black. It's about merit and integrity. Watching him get steamrolled like this is messed up esp when you know he'll die fighting the good fight. Plus he JUST warned of an invasion of shapeshifters so firing him right now is unwise if the invasion is to be defeated.

True but an invasion that is sort of his fault with a promise that he made with no oversight it seems (could be wrong as we don’t know everything) and putting the skrulls in position himself and it’s a problem that he hasn’t been here on earth to deal with for the past five years and just shows up and ask for everyone to just follow him. I just understand where Rhodes is coming from with all of this.

@@hunternicholson9953 he made that promise with Carol (the only earthling actually capable of finding them a habitable planet in the 1990s) standing beside him. Even now there's no reason to think Fury has access to deep space travel. The five years he was gone was (not his fault) during the blip. He wasn't on SABER for that long. Just feels like Fury is taking a lot of unfair heat and being shown zero appreciation for saving the world endless times.

He knows. She was the skrull in the beginning when he met gravik. Also of all the skrulls shown....her skrull face looks soo much like her human face like it seems more obvious than other skrulls.
