You made my grandmother cry. I showed her the video because she often talks about the one time in her life when she was still young and spent a ton of money to fly to the usa in order to visit Disneyland. She said that it looks just like the one from her memory and made her feel the same like back then. She was so happy and asked me to write you that she is very grateful for the opportunity to experience it again and that she wishes you all the best and that you and your team continue your wonderful work. Thank you so much.

How do you run this in VR? I downloaded the installer from the link in the KZfaq description and ran it, but the experience never loads in my VR headset, and on my monitor I just see part of some blue splash screen I can't interact with..

@parishna4882 3 жыл бұрын
@@michaeldepalma858 the blue splash screen has play in 2d, play in vr on it, you need to click it with the mouse outside of vr to start it.
@michaeldepalma858
@michaeldepalma858 3 жыл бұрын
@@parishna4882 for those having this problem, you need to hit “alt enter” on that blue screen to get it to size correctly so you can select an option to start. Man that was such a nostalgia trip, and so much better than just watching a flat 360 video in KZfaq. Thank you! Also starting the ride is confusing; when you get to the sign above the ride, it says something like “Embark Now”-you want to point your controller at that and you’ll see a little dot, sort of like a gaze-based selection indicator appear. Click the trigger to enter the ride. Be warned that you’ll need to do the same thing to select your seat in the sub, and for some reason you spawn in on the wrong side of the sub (only one side actually has scenery). Good luck!

Wow, that was actually quite emotional for me. When I first visited WDW with my parents in 1974-75, this ride was one of the main ones I wanted to ride, yet it was broken, or undergoing refurbishment, or something. We went back in the 80's a couple times, and, it was broken or closed for whatever reason on BOTH occasions...point is, for one reason or another, I never got to ride that thing, so this is something special to me. Thank you all.
@ImperialTrooperUK
@ImperialTrooperUK 2 жыл бұрын
Same here. I went over from Scotland for the holiday of a lifetime in 80/81 and as a 9yr old who loved the film it was the one ride I really wanted to go on. The pool was drained and I saw the Nautilus just sitting on its rail. I've never forgotten that so to stumble across this was simply amazing. The Haunted Mansion made up for the disappointment though. Even at 50 I can still remember that ride like it was yesterday.
@thegood9
@thegood9 2 жыл бұрын
@@ImperialTrooperUK lol, we had nearly the same experience, except, it was Space Mountain that made up for the lack of the Nautilus, as, I stood in line for the Haunted Mansion, got all the way to the door, and high tailed it back out of there, those sounds scared the shite outta me at that age, and I didn't go in there until later on when I was a teen (although my little brother at age 4 went, and loved it, lol, showing me up!).

I have similar rides that I missed. Thankfully this wasn't one of them, but they certainly did close a lot of rides often. I guess all that Disney magic required a lot of regular fixing.
@Hexadeci
@Hexadeci 7 ай бұрын
I grew up in Southern California and had been to Disneyland maybe once a year on average, so, a lot. I got to ride this once! It was always broken, or had really long lines, or both, and it always seemed to be late in the day when we passed it. At that point (90’s), it was clearly kind of an old and objectively unexciting ride, although it still always captured my imagination and interest. That’s the magic of the original rides I guess.

I know now the parks have guides for Cognitive Disabilities including ride assessments. But even if you can't get on a ride, it's a lot of fun to do non-ride things there. I hope one day you are able to go and have a lot of fun! Everyone deserves that at least once in their lives.

For years now, since the 2000s, I've always wanted to go inside of another dimension (outside of earth) to experience something like this, or time traveling. I know it may never happen in the 21st century, so I would be jealous if the 22nd century and beyond has the capability to do what I've always wanted to see in entertainment. This is close, but not as close as actually being there yourself, without using a VR headset that is.

At the time, I liked it a bit. I considered it rather boring. But I definitely appreciate it as an adult. If something brings back fond memories, then somewhere deep down, it was enjoyable to use back then. :) The parts I remember the most were the submerging and reemerging, because I loved watching the frantic bubbles. And just now I got a little sad, because I vaguely remember sitting on my dad's lap on this ride when there weren't enough seats for all the guests. My dad died from ALS in '95, so any memory about him is rare and cherished. ❤️

I was also "born at Disney" the year it opened and my aunt worked there, so yes I got to go on this ride a lot. This is my childhood. Thank you for bringing it back. 3:50 this horn sound and pretty much everything about the ride (including the arrangement of the metal bars for the lines) reminds me of the Nemo ride, which is probably my favorite. And now I know the Nemo ride was repurposed from this... which is incredibly fitting since one of the characters from leagues was also named Nemo.

Following the Jim Henson documentary series, I did not think this channel could get any better. I have been proven wrong every single time since then. From the grand scale of the 1964 World's Fair, Coney Island, and Walt's City of Tomorrow, to the smaller yet still important Electric Park, Beverly Park Kiddieland, and even Toys R Us Times Square, this channel has not once failed to keep me attention on whatever the subject matter might be. But this. This is in its own league. I have never stepped foot inside of a Disney park before, but I could not wipe the dumb smile off of face seeing at what has been created here. This is nothing short of magical. I applaud you, Mr. Perjurer, for all of the remarkable work that you and the people that you are surrounded by are able to create. You really are, one incredible storyteller.

What an absolutely fascinating reaction. Most people cry from nostalgia when they reminisce about things they experienced as a kid. But you weren't even alive when this ride was around. Yet you still shed tears. I'm incredibly intrigued. :) You must have a deep sense of empathy. Or at least I hope you do.
@SuperSneakySakura
@SuperSneakySakura 2 жыл бұрын
@@MidnightSonnet I have been told I have a deep sense of empathy, and it is something that I continue every day to try and achieve. I grew up with the disney parks, and I have always loved them. Many of the rides that I grew up with have come and gone, and I always wanted to know that one day I would again experience them. So maybe in a way it is a little selfish as well. But I couldn't imagine having been around when rides like these were what you grew up with and now they are no more than just a distant memory. Disney has always been my escape when i was younger, as it is one of the few places that was ever able to make me feel truly normal during my years fighting with medical issues. So I will always miss the emotions that come with these rides, as well as the people I met while enjoying them. I hope you have a great day Midnight Sonnet, and that you are able to enjoy these videos just as much. Stay safe now.
@MidnightSonnet
@MidnightSonnet 2 жыл бұрын
@@SuperSneakySakura good. Please continue to nurture that empathy. It's desperately needed in the world. Eh, I don't hold too much nostalgia for rides I used to ride, but are no longer around. I used to feel that way when I was younger, but I'm learning to let things go and move on. No sense in dwelling about things I can't control. Memories are good enough for me. Plus, Disneyland has kept most of the rides I love. :P Us empaths tend to be the ones who suffer the most, emotionally. It's our highly sensitive nature. Be sure to seek help when you need it and don't allow yourself to dwell. Trust me, it'll only make things worse. Thank you for the well wishes. I wish you the same.

@@worthlesspeon13 I think you may have messed up your unit conversion. The book takes place all over the world including the South Pole. The current equivalent to 20000 leagues would be closer to 43200 nautical miles. A metric lieu (or league) during Jules Verne's time was 4 kilometres long. And 1 kilometre is ~0.54 nautical miles.
