right? they got the quintessential embarrassing degrassi plotlines in (periods, boners, dick measuring), several love triangles without being overly dramatic, THREE virginity plotlines in a single episode that each ended differently, an abortion plotline (which hasnt happened on degrassi since manny - and never with such detail about the procedure itself), a mental illness/suicide plotline, and of course the main overarching coma/play plotline. degrassi hasn't been so.... degrassi.... in over half a decade.

Agreed. I wasn’t crazy about Next Class but seasons 3 and 4 were really great. Every plot was well done, the cast did great in their scenes and it had an OG Degrassi feel to it. I still prefer Next Gen and the older seasons tho..

Their struggles r different Clare had her super perfect boyfriend all the time during her rough times n she doesn't suffer mental depression like Maya, except crying all the time for difficulty in adjustment Tho for Clare the writing kinda made it too convenient n unrealistic, she survived a cancer n still got pregnant not long after that (by the way she received phone call informing her that her baby was okay from her blood test - what kind of magic blood test is that??), then she found out that the baby was indeed her beloved soulmate's instead of her one-timer's, the fact that she lost her baby is really sad.. but I can't help it not to feel like the writers want to make her lost the baby so that she can still be perfect high-academic achiever Clare rather than mommy Clare, without receiving all the hate from pro-life fans if she underwent voluntary abortion Both had been a victim of sexual assault, Clare had been force-kissed by her boss, Maya had been sexually forced by Neil.. and I'm really glad in both situation it did not go any further.. sad for Darcy n Zoey tho :( But Maya lost her boyfriend to suicide at very young age.. when she juz started experiencing first romantic love.. that's juz plain horrible to begin with

you never get over an addiction. that's not really how it works. it doesnt matter that nobody ever thought maya would use it recreationally or to od, because ill say it again, knowing their family history of addiction and mental illness, all prescriptions should be locked up to prevent a situation like this.

most of those bottles arent even mayas, theyre her mothers'... and maya wasnt just sad, she was diagnosed with both anxiety in the past and depression in the present.
