Exactly! He is straight and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. He doesn’t have to be with Yael because Yael no longer identifies as a girl, yes he has feelings for them but I feel like there’s no attraction anymore? Technically Yael is still biologically female so there would be attraction at least build speaking. But they don’t really present as a girl, don’t dress like a girl (not that they were ever super girly but they still dressed more like a female than currently) and then there’s the mentality aspect of the identity itself. Which yeah Yael does not feel like a girl. Hunter wants to date girls. And everyone around him is kinda pushing this down his throat a lil bit lol. He basically just found out recently that his girlfriend is no longer his girlfriend. He didn’t even understand what genderfluid is because he had never heard of it before and now all of his and Yael’s friends are freaking him out and pushing the narrative that he has to be anything but straight? They legit started listing sexualities that HUNTER could possibly be while Hunter WAS RIGHT THERE like a fucking grocery list lmao. @@clementine3418 I don’t know if we’re TECHNICALLY coming from the same place. Like I said, straight just means you’re attracted to a gender other than your own on the most basic and technical level (that’s not even getting into the split model attraction and whatnot) so I see nothing wrong Hunter continuing to be with Yael. Biologically she’s female but that has nothing to do with sexuality since you’re attracted to gender and gender presentation and not really biology anyways (whole other can of worms). That said Hunter is still attracted to Yael on the basis of Yael being Yael. Also, you’re kinda conflating gender identity, gender expression, and biological sex together when you’re speaking on how Yael dresses before and after. Hunter very clearly wants to date Yael so his attraction isn’t just to “girls” which can mean whatever honestly. it seems Hunter just likes femininity in general because he very much was still interested in Yael even after they were referenced as non-binary and he only showed discontent whenever they presented less feminine. His friends were offering alternatives and suggestions because they are trying to figure things out the same as he was, they weren’t necessarily forcing anything down his throat. You could attribute their callous behavior to them being teenagers and not exactly the most introspective people on the planet… and also kinda dumba**es in general. That said, Hunter could have actually taken the time to learn what gender fluid was. I understand his shock but it’s odd how he hangs out with gay Vijay and has a bi brother yet he appeared almost intolerant to the idea of alternative sexuality/gender identities. This NEVER came up before? How? But yes, I still believe Hunter is straight but I don’t believe his straightness means he can’t be with Yael since sexuality is a spectrum and not as rigid as most people seem to think. Plus, like I said, his big thing is simply that he doesn’t like guys. That’s the entire basis of his sexuality, he just doesn’t like the same gender as himself which leaves Yael firmly within his attractive range.

Gender identity is a whole thing now so it’s hard to differentiate biology with gender identity and then there’s gender expression which is a whole other separate thing apparently which is genuinely where I was coming from in my comment. I saw a show where there was a non-binary character who was biologically female and then there was guy who was straight and though he’s attracted to them physically, there’s the whole mentality aspect of gender identity that doesn’t really correlate with biological sex in this day and age. So while I feel like being with a trans person MTF or FTM wouldn’t really leave anyone questioning their sexuality even if they haven’t transitioned fully because regardless of surgery they present as the sex you’re into. In Yael’s case who’s genderfluid, not trans they don’t present as a girl, not just in their clothing style but they also bind if I’m not mistaken so yeah they’re literally not presenting as the gender Hunter is attracted to despite the fact if Yael was naked in front of him they’re still biologically female. And obviously he loves them and still feels a connection to them but I don’t think he’d be “attracted” in the sense of being in a romantic relationship with them which is perfectly okay. So while romantic connections can vary from person to person, in my opinion I don’t feel sexuality is inherently fluid? But that’s just me. If it was as fluid as people say then there wouldn’t be sexualities that exist such as gay, straight, lesbian. Those can’t be fluid unless something rare happens and maybe a person who might be gay has a romantic connection with a girl but again that’s very rare and it all depends on each person. I’m bi so I can’t speak from experience and I’ve never met anyone personally with an exception to their sexuality but I’m sure they must exist somewhere. But yeah I agree Hunter definitely should’ve looked into it but knowing about it originally I’ll cut him some slack because he had never met anyone who’s genderfluid or even trans which is a lot more common so I get not knowing originally. Yael didn’t even know until they researched it and Lola helped them realize their identity but in the beginning they weren’t aware about it either. And yes, I know their friends meant well but they were lowkey freaking him out about potential sexualities when he’s just getting used to this new idea that he didn’t even know existed but I agree they are kind of dumbasses and being a teenager doesn’t help in this situation either 😂 Thanks for being respectful even though we weren’t exactly on the same page! We need more people like you in the world lmao.
