After the shooting at Degrassi, the full school board counseling response team moves in. And so does the media. Local reporter, Rachel Roberts, has decided to make Sean the hero of her piece. While Sean may be basking a little in his hero status, it doesn’t mean he wants to be on TV. But his mother does and Rachel’s got the tape. Upset, Sean decides to confront his past so he, Ellie, Jay and Emma take off on a road trip to Wasaga Beach. But no one’s really prepared for what they discover, least of all Sean.
Things at school are particularly awkward for Toby, whose very presence is met with fear and suspicion. He’s not even sure how he feels about Rick and his actions. One moment he’s angry, the next he’s sad. Will people realize that he and his friend were not the same person, or think he had something to do with the shooting?
The programe's most provocative season yet promises to delve deeper into storylines and showcase the cast as they deal with the most challenging situations to date. In the one-hour season premiere special, it’s a new year and Paige is called to testify in her rape case. Emotions run high as she must confront her attacker face to face. Meanwhile, family ties are put to the test when Craig receives an unexpected birthday present from his late father.
