This seams like a great albeit expensive machine. I have the Humminguru and I'm quite happy with it. Yes, you have to fill the tank yourself but it's not too much trouble (one guy did make a mod for it to refill the tank automatically, search it up on google, but I found it quite cumbersome and complex to do). I only use distilled water in my Humminguru and so far I don't see the need to add anything. I didn't experience the water issues you were mentioning (x2 cycle dry works like a charm for me) Humminguru also sells a solution to add to the tank but I find it surprising that they don't include the solution with the machine. And in the literature that comes with it, if memory serves well, they mention to use only distilled water. Maybe I'll try one day but I might want to do a rinse afterwards if I do (good thing I ordered an extra tank from HG) I did notice though, that with some records, it has an issue where the record doesn't rotate. Main example: Animals 2018 remix box set. Which is not a great pressing I found. 3 copies, none of the records would spin in the machine unless I would gently push the edge on one side. Had the same issue with another record that had a little protrusion on the edge.. every time it would go down it will stay stuck. Again a gentle push on the side would fix it until it went down again. So far, I cleaned close to 80 records and only had those 2 problems. I do make sure now that the record is spinning before I leave the machine unattended, just in case Even if you have a Degritter or (the holy grail) a KL Audio ($7k++), do not put dirty records in there. Ultrasonic cleaning will not take care of oils, fingerprints etc. If you have a dirty record, prewash it by hand first then run it in the ultrasonic cleaner. Little off topic or side note: anyone has/uses the Humminguru S-DUO ultrasonic stylus cleaner? I got one at the same time I ordered my machines spares from Hong Kong since it was reasonable and no extra shipping costs. I have no complaints so far apart the battery life. But I'm curious to know if anyone else is using it as there are no reviews (to my knowledge at this time) available. Thank you for another great review.

Very important. AI audio intelligent has released a concentrated enzyme formula for ultrasonic machines that doesn’t foam up. It’s a one of a kind formula with enzymes that work to lift dirt, grime, grease etc but doesn’t foam and never needs a rinse after the machine runs. Huge game changer. I have been using it and tossed out my surfactants as a result since they all created foam.

Good review and video. However, I've had nothing but AMAZING results with the HumminGuru + G Sonic. I personally haven't had issues with water temperature―the HumminGuru's reduced ultrasonic power might be the reason why the water doesn't get too hot with subsequent cleanings and why the Degritter requires a cooling mechanism. Worth pointing out that even if you need a second clean cycle, you're still pressing buttons and letting the machine do the thing (apart from having to manually dump the water back into the reservoir). No doubt the Degritter is a beast, but justifying an extra $3,000 is going to be very, very, very difficult. Having the machine automatically deal with the water instead of manually dumping the water into the reservoir isn't really worth an extra $3K IMO, and that seems to be the biggest quality of life feature the Degritter truly gets you. Everything else, like the cooling mechanism, seem like features that were put in place as a way to remedy potential issues caused by the higher ultrasonic power. Just my two cents!

Glad to see an inexpensive Ultrasonic in the DeGritter. I have had a KLaudio CDP Ultrasonic since 2013. It has been an excellent machine and has done over 5.000 lps. The records come out perfectly dry. That Huming Guru wash basin looks a bit finicky . The KAudio continuously spins not the back and forth rotation like the Degritter . I also have a nice silencer option. Have you run a colored vinyl record through it multi times to look for residue?

Are there any difference or improvements with using the groovewasher g-sonic with the degritter in your experience?

I've had a VPI 16.5 for years and years. I keep ALMOST jumping up to an ultrasonic, but have yet to make the jump.

I've just bought one but have yet to turn it on as there is a warning about selecting the correct AC voltage range. The red slide switch on the back of the machine is currently in the up position. It isn't clear which position is 240v and which is 115v. I'm based in the UK.

I've just watched a comparison video with audio samples including sound wave charts using a Spin Clean VS the HumminGuru VS the Degritter and the differences were hardly impressive. The test records started on the Spin Clean and ended on the Degritter. You would think by the time the same test records where run through the Degritter there would be hardly no surface noise or clicks etc...nope, the records sounded basically the same. So for a Spin Clean at $80 VS a Degritter at $4500 (Canadian Dollars) I would say for most stick with the Spin Clean or the HumminGuru and save your thousands for more records.

I have a Humminguru and I have to say for the price it comes in at, if anything it actually over performs. I am sure the Degritter is fantastic but the price difference makes the choice a no-brainer in favour of the Humminguru.

Hi Mark, I agree with you that the Degritter is the best commercially available ultrasonic unit available at the present time. The reason that the Degritter works better than any other machine out there is because it is the only unit that is purposely designed for this purpose that uses 120khz as its frequency. All other purpose built units use 35 to 49khz frequency, the reason being the cost of the 120khz transducers. 90% of all ultrasonic units built for all industries use 35 to 40khz frequency therefore those frequencies have a much larger market than all other frequencies combined. 120khz results in finer, smaller cavitation bubbles that get deeper into the groove thus giving the record a deeper clean. My concern with the Humminguru is the same as Vinyl Attack's, thit is not a full power ultrasonic unit. The Degritter is absolutely ridiculous in price. I don't have one at all, a friend of mine does, we tested it against the Humminguru, yes it was much better. Here in Australia the Degritter Mk.11 with extra tank and size adaptors cost about $5,700aud about 3,000 pounds. Overpriced and my friends Mk.1 unit has not been reliable. I use a 10litre multi frequency tank unit (40/80/122khz) which i have tested against the degritter and its results are the same as the Degritter without the high price tag, but does not dry of course, but i can have three of my units for one Degritter here. Enjoy the music.

I just bought a VEVOR record cleaning machine.

I find the whole idea of having to pay £500 (or £3000!!) just to clean your records when this was never necessary back in the day, ridiculous. However, I am sick of loud clicks and crackles on so much new vinyl (I only buy new vinyl) and I feel like I've been bullied into finding the £500 to buy the HumminGuru, which I took delivery of yesterday. My worst albums for crackles and clicks, which make the albums virtually unlistenable, are ABBA's "Voyage", The Ruts "The Crack", Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells (2018 grey vinyl edition)" and Tom Odell's "Best Day of My Life". Commentators convinced me that cleaning these with an ultrasonic cleaner would make them sound much better, even though they were brand new and sealed when purchased. So I spent most of yesterday "deep" cleaning them with HumminGuru's own recommended cleaning fluid (not included with the original hardware) added to the water (2-3 drops as advised). The diffrence in audio quality is not really discernible. The loud clicks and crackles are still all there. This has turned out to be a terrible investment and waste of money. I also have a "listenable" Elton John "Tumbleweed Connection" vinyl reissue (green vinyl from 2020) that was mint and sounds great apart from three bursts of crackle on the last two tracks on Side 1. I put that through the cleaner too. No change whatsoever. It turns out a shitty modern pressing is just that - a shitty modern pressing, and no ultrasonic cleaner can fix that. I feel like I totally wasted my money on getting an expensive cleaner, especially when my local record store offers a "£2 a disc" cleaning service anyway. Nothing against the HumminGuru per se - it's an elegant design and seems to go through its processes quite well. But I've bought hardware that is clearly intended for people with dirty records, not those who buy new, use poly-lined sleeves on all their purchases and generally look after them.

What does the cleaning fluid consists of? I don't wanna pay for things I can do on my own way cheaper.

Regardless how money you may have it just doesn't make sense to spend 3500 on a single record cleaning machine. I have about 5000 records in my collection and with the help of a Vevor ,DIY Filter Pump and wireless drying fan and I've successfully clean all my albums in about 60 days. And to top it, I've spent less than 300 dollars on equipment and cleaning supplies...

There are other high end sonic record cleaners that you have not tried. All you can say is this is the best that you have tried.

This is for wealthy audiophiles pervs. Totaly over priced. Of course the built quality is super good, but you can have good results hand cleaning and if you don’t have time for this cheaper machines as humming guru. If you can deal with minimum scratch and plocs go to streaming and flac files!
