A part of DeKalb Medical Physicians Group, the North Tucker Primary Care practice is located at 5019 LaVista Road across from Tucker High School. A pair of highly-trained Atlanta primary care physicians and an enthusiastic young nurse practitioner make up the professional staff.
Vera Reaves, M.D. describes the role of a family medicine practice such as North Tucker Primary Care as providing care for its patients during all phases of their lives. Though the practice does not treat children, they see patients 17 and up. “We really offer something for everyone here and we want every patient to get something of value from each visit with us. My personal approach with patients is to expect them to be a full participant in their own medical care and I talk to them frankly about the state of their health. I counsel them to get up off the couch!” she said.
The senior professional on the North Tucker team is William Budell, M.D., a graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Medicine in New Jersey. Dr. Budell did his internal medicine residency at George Washington University before spending his military service with the Centers for Disease Control, which brought him and his family to Atlanta.
“While I can see any patient, I tend to attract patients who are close to my own age,” said Dr. Budell, who practiced for many years at Emory University before going into private practice on his own as an internist. He joined DeKalb Medical Physicians Group in early 2015.
Many of the younger patients enjoy seeing nurse practitioner Tran Trivedi. Vietnamese by birth, Tran is a married, brand-new mom who volunteers in her community to raise health awareness with various organizations. She received her nursing degree from Clayton State College and her Master of Science, Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Georgia State University.
Whether patients need a simple flu shot or help managing a chronic disease like diabetes or high blood pressure, North Tucker Primary Care aims to be supportive, informative and restorative. They offer a range of services including general medicine, gynecology, orthopedics and minor surgeries. Patients are able to promptly obtain a full range of diagnostic tests, including X-rays, CT scans, MRI and ultrasound at any of the DeKalb Medical facilities that are most convenient.
