Top Tip! If you ever want to avoid cutting a ‘Drunken’ Male thread but have a lathe like you do; knock lathe out of gear and turn off at the mains, keep Male part in the Chuck, press the die up against the tail stock and move the tail stick down to the Male part til they “engage”. The die handle will jam against the lathe bed as you turn the 3 jaw Chuck in the normal direction rotation. You only need a couple if rotations to cut into the Male stock and it’ll all be dead square. Once started, take it out and finish off in a bench vice. Hey presto, prefect square Male threads. (Maybe use the Chuck key to get extra leverage if needed to rotate the Chuck while cutting the thread) 👍

Hi Del , Haven't been here for a while so many things going on moving house and stuff but great to see your back into a rat bike , Your channels come a long way and you now have an excellent workshop , the nice thing is you haven't changed still the same bloke , still got rat bikes running through your veins , your channel has not lost its direction , sure its more professional than the early days but its still a bloke in his shed doing what he loves to do and helping the younger ones to see there's more to life than sitting on the sofa looking at a phone

just a quick question how did you work out that the new piece is stronger than the square tube it replaces. looking at it the load is distributed alone the lengthen of the tube in compression making the square tube stronger than the round bar as there is a bend half way along giving it a weak spot to bend as a round bar/tube is stronger in a strait line not in a curve/bent scenario.

Stick with it buddy, I'm building a rat rod bike and that can be many things and aim to create that in a cafe racer style...! Perhaps it's best described as 'cafe racer' being a genre of bike, like bobber, chopper or streetfighter, and rat rod is the finish and patina you put on it, so you could have, for instance, a rat rod chopper or a shiney and candy painted chopper... this will be a cafe racer with a rat rod finish to it... oh, the turbo bike is in the hands of it's new loving owner and has been for a few months now, can't keep 'em all buddy, otherwise people would think I was Jay Leno lol...
