This is my favourite version of Lakmé on KZfaq. Such beautiful staging and ethereal singing, especially by Jodie Devos. I've really admired her for her impressive coloratura soprano voice ever since I watched this video, and it is with profound grief that I've found out about her death, having suffered the same terrible fate as the lovely Patricia Janečková, whose 26th birthday would've been today. My deepest condolences to her family and close friends. May our beloved Jodie and Patricia rest in peace. Their legendary voices will continue to echo in our hearts ❤️

Lovely production, keeps the attention all the way through. The set for Act III (mostly a large green leather sofa) is a little strange but that's a small niggle. The late lamented Ms Devos sings beautifully. I can't share in the negative comments here about Philippe Talbot whose lyrical light tenor voice blends well in the duets with his heroine.

Lead soprano was excellent. The tenor was good but his vibrato is weak in the higher registers you can see him straining too get there. And he can't sustain it for long. And that boils down to breath control folks. You either have it or you don't. I'm a singer myself so i pick up on these things.

Very good production, but Philippe Talbot is terrible. Hard to believe Jodie Devos just died, and at such a young age. What a shame. But she was flat most of the time in this performance. A little hard to take.

Plus j'avance, plus c'est mauvais. Eclairages criards. Décor toquard, en kit. On n'y crois pas une seconde. Perruques des anglaises façon carnaval. A 1:40:50, il faut que Talbot se fasse remplacer. Ce n'est définitivement pas pour lui. Et danseurs livrés à eux-mêmes derrière. .
