Wonderful recipe. I have apple, cherry, and plum trees and for the last picking of the season I do this to use up the last of the fruit, plus added some berries I had in the freezer. I mixed them all and made some mixed jam. It was so interesting and could also be spread on crepes but I prefer it on homemade toasted bread with butter. I then put the small jars in the freezer to make them last longer. Just take a jar out the night before and store it in the refrigerator to thaw for use. Canada.

@@gassyalways The thing is in my location we have good sunny summers or wet cloudy summers so a small crop yield happens in some years, but look out about every third year. I was lucky that the fruit is not all ripe at the same time. First cherries (end July), then apples (end August), and plums (end September) were last. So glad there are channels like this sharing their skills so I can have many options (syrups, frozen, juices, jams, jellies, dehydrated, apple sauce). One year the plum trees were so loaded I invited 2 more people to get the rest so they did not go to waste. Last 2 years were only enough for myself so this year should be good again I hope.

To cut the sweetness I add lemon juice and a few cloves to my jams, also l always use half a cup less of sugar. It still stores well in the pantry until it is opened.

1. Add 1 tsp Citric acid to preserve jam. 2. If you want to extend the shelf life of your homemade jam, you can process it in a hot water bath (canning), 3. Keep in refrigerator with airtight lid only.
