Solution my parents used way back in the day: baby kit in each car always stocked. Yes you can go to the beach, yes you can do what you do now and baby will cope and be better off for it in the long run. My parents had me traveling across the USA when I was 8 weeks old. I grew up to love travel and I've learned to cope with unexpected situations from all the travel growing up. Just because people will tell you that you can't, doesn't mean you can't. Your lives aren't typical so why start now? :)

Your spontaneity is going to make you an amazing dad when she is a bit older though. I remember when I was younger (like primary school till beginning of high school) if the weather was nice in summer sometimes I would come back home from school and my mom would be like lets go to the beach right now and we would go to the beach and have a dinner picnic there, those are some of my best memories. but sometimes (especially as I got a bit older) I would be like oh but I have homework and my mom would just say you can just skip your homework for now or do it later, its not the end of the world , you do homework everyday but not everyday is nice enough to go to the beach so make the best out of it while you can. it made me more of a laidback person and taught me to enjoy the small things in life. I think you are gonna be the same to your daughter:)

I would definitely recommend continuing to try to be spontaneous. It's often really easy to just stay at home cause it is a lot of work to get a baby out the door. But if you keep doing it, they'll get really used to it and you'll both get much better at just grabbing what you need for the baby just like you grab what you need for yourself. Having a baby that is used to being out and about and can travel makes you feel much more free as parents. It's definitely challenging, but so rewarding too!

I’ve never commented before (congrats on the baby!!) and I’m not one to give advice especially when it comes to other people’s children BUT when I had my baby I missed the spontaneity of things too and it really effected me. So I committed to keeping a “go bag” for baby in the car haha. It was always stocked with a change of clothes and tons of diapers, formula etc. So if we wanted to catch a sunset everything we could ever need would be in the trunk so we felt a lot freer to enjoy those moments with the baby.

Best advice is to keep a go bag at the ready and live your lives as normally as possible, while thinking of that new dependable being in the mix. Not the other way around! They’re still just a little human that will benefit from all sorts of fun experiences, even that young! You guys are gonna be such amazing parents. Lucky little girl x

With the concern of not being able to be as spontaneous, I recommend starting small when you have the baby! It's doesn't necessarily have to be going out to taste pastries but maybe a picnic in the backyard with the 3 of you. Or stargazing; maybe an at home candle lit dinner. There are many ways to bring a little spontaneity that you crave into your everyday life so you don't feel like you're missing out/depriving your persona. Hope this tip helps!! Xx

Don’t worry about spontaneity :) we have two kids and from experience as long as you both are organised, you can make those quick plans and enjoy it as much as you would if you were alone ❤️ If you are chilled out baby will also catch the same vibe 🌸

Your fear totally makes sense. My dad passed when I was five my sister was six and my brothers were 4 and 1. One thing I will tell you is that people who these things happen to are also the people who are equipped to handle it. I know my family is very strong because of our trials alone and as a family and we all remember our dad. It's crazy that we have good memories, because it's what we needed. I was only five but I remember my dad and know my dad as if I had longer time with him. So just know that your fear is valid, but if anything were to happen things would work out and I know you could and would still be there for your daughter in many other ways. Lessons I learned from my dad at only five are still apart of my life and he continues to be apart of it even if he can be physically. It is crazy though that switching from not being a parent to a parent can change your while perspective on life and you are already starting to see those changes.

As others have said, just make sure you have a full change bag in both your cars, so you can just jump in the car and go anywhere, whenever you come home just make sure you check how many nappies have been used and replenish there and then so it's ready to just get up and go whenever you want to. We took our baby to our friends 30th birthday party in a pub garden when she was only a few weeks old, they kept saying you didn't have to come if it's too much hassle. But it was lovely, she never stopped us doing anything, yes it just takes a little bit longer and you have to be a bit more organised but thats it. Bottle prep machines are a god send but you can also buy cartons of formula which are just ready to tip into a bottle, they are great for days out or to just keep for "what if" moments x

Never a person who comments but just want to recognize what an incredible job Alfie is doing with using inclusive language around parenthood and how much it means to hear that language normalized. It makes such a huge difference when big creators like him and Zoe are using language like "person who is pregnant"/"supporting partner" instead of woman/man or wife/husband without making a big deal about it. I think they could both do a bit better job in how they talk about the gender of their baby, but overall I have been so impressed and appreciative to see the tone they set for their parenthood journey being one about adopting inclusive parenting values.

It’s so nice that he is showing becoming a parent from the dad’s perspective. You don’t see many people taking much notice on how dads feel when they are about to become parents and I feel like that should be noticed more.

yeah the sickness and death stuff is totally a thing, you're basically not allowed to die or get really sick for the next at least 50 years which is quite the pressure. My husband was diagnosed with leukemia when I was 8 months pregnant and had to undergo treatment until our little one was 4 months old. Nowadays leukemia can be treated quite well in most cases but there's still always the possibility of something going wrong along the way. So not knowing for sure whether our child was going to even get to know/remember his dad was pretty horrendous. He was diagnosed with leukemia again when our little one was just over a year old and that time he had to get a stem cell transplant, so we knew that if no donor would be found he would definitely die within the next year. Scary shit. He received stem cells from a dude in the US, so he's basically an american now ;) and it took him about 1.5 years so recover from the stem cell transplant, he still has issues with his skin today (3 years later) which can fortunately be treated quite well. I cannot even tell you how grateful we are for the fact that our kid was so young during all this, I can't imagine how it must be for a child that can comprehend what it means when dad has to go into hospital for minimum the next 5 weeks and to see a parent deteriorate like that... But, and here comes the wonderful world of YT: your's and Zoe's travel vlogs from dubai were a really nice break during that time (I think they were from 2 years earlier but for some reason YT suggested them again), like a mini vacation. So please stay safe and healthy =)
