I was able to get the Dell D6000 Dock to work with my ThinkPad X230 thanks to this video. I had no idea I had to download the DisplayLink drivers for Ubuntu. I thought Ubuntu would have them included automatically. Luckily your video showed me the way! I downloaded the Ubuntu drivers for 20.04 and installed them. I hooked up my X230 via the USB-A connection. I was able to get the laptop to display, plus two more 1920x1200 U2415 monitors. Thanks again for creating this video.

Such a good video! This video was exactly what I was looking for to decide on which docking station to buy in order to be able to use it with Ubuntu on my laptop that only has USB 3.0 ports.

Did you try plugging in an ethernet cable and peripherals? Just want to know if those ports work good as well.

Hi José Alfredo de León G., I am so glad this video was able to help you, I know not many people use Ubuntu compare to Windows and Mac. I did test the Ethernet and audio in D6000 dock under Ubuntu and very happy to report it all working =). Thank you for your feedback as well =), when I see this it means the video is at least helping someone!

thank you, good stuff btw. just a small hint, instead of navigating to the destination ("cd Desktop") you can also just type "sudo" and drag&drop the executable (or whatever, works with any file) onto the terminal and it will automatically put the path in there

Thank you very much zocker1600, I didn't know that and its been well past 20 years since I have used linux when I learnt it and that was Red Hat back then too. I'm not a linux user myself and since touching Linux back in my uni days (my linux knowledge is yep that long ago) it's changed and I haven't been maintaning my knowledge in linux all these years. Only started to do some videos on Ubuntu just to assist people who do use linux distros find docks since I already have access to the products that's what I can help with my limited knowledge. I welcome hints very much, so thank you zocker1600!

@@BsianTech no problem, noone expects you to be an expert, but the dock testing is super userful, cannot find those information anywhere else even the Dell website doesn't tell you, that using USB A only supports 2 screens (+ build in) keep it up ;)

Hi @BsianDad I'm having a delay when I put the dell 6000 dock at a latitude 7300 with 16gb of ram i7, on ubuntu 20.04, I have a DELL monitor like yours on the video and another lg connected via HDMI, when I connect the two on dock and click takes a few seconds to get a response, unlike when connected directly to the notbook's HDMI, some suggestion ??

Not working for me with Ubuntu 20.04. I'm just using one more monitor and linux laptop is a HP Elitebook 2570p and my monitor is a Dell 19' with display port cable plugged

Finally works on my HP pavilion 2 screens. What worked for me was to first chmod +x the .run file and only then running the file.

I am using Ubuntu 20 and d6000. The screen goes blank twice in a gap of 5 min each son after laptop is turned on. Latet after 2 hours also it turns black for ~5 seconds. When screens come back, I found that bluetooth setings are reset. Has anyone observer such issue?

Mine does not work in Ubuntu. You need to disable UEFI.

I saw your video before buying the dock, its lagging like hell, even makes my non displaylink monitor super laggy, overall the entire system gets very unresponsive. Running fairly recent hardware, i7 10510U ubuntu 20 should have been able to handle it. Don't buy this shitty dock and anything else that uses display link.
