So glad to have found your channel. Your reviews are very good and although this is just and on boxing and impressions video, I've learned more than I have with other people's full reviews. I love your excitement and it helps me checking my pockets to see if I can go for this model! FYI folks, Dell has a 40% off sale on these at the moment in US/Canada

Looks like a nice business focused unit. Reminds me of the older thinkpads with the mouse keys and mouse nipple we once had in an office I worked in. That bottom dock is perfect for business, companies like that approach rather than a plug to plug in.

Update: I bought it second hand for 325CAD (16Gb Ram, 512SSD) I installed olarila Hackintosh on it and made it perfectly equipped with MacOS BIGSUR 11.4! It also boots into windows 10Pro. It works just as good as an intel Mac but at the same time being a 2016 machine it outperforms 2017 top spec intel Mac book pro!!! Fuck yeah man this feels so good

I have an old Dell latitude from maybe 10 years ago and the keyboard is spot on. I'd say its almost as good as a newer macbook pro! request: could you try using the fingerprint scanner? and give your opinion on fingerprint scanners in laptops I'm your full review? thanks!

I own the E7470 and a 5491 for it's 6 core cpu and dedicated graphics. My 5491 was a slick upgrade but I would just stick to 1080p, my personal opinion of course but costs versus benefits, ah. Plus that one is a glossy screen being a touch screen. I bought my wife a Latitude 2 in 1 and it's speck'd like this with the carbon fiber. It's an awesome laptop. Again personal opinion but I use my laptops daily. I stare at them for hours. The glossy screen would surly give me headaches. Everything else is fantastic. Great battery life. I can leave my charger at home with my e7470. Did I mention this is also a great laptop for linux users? I dual boot between Mint 19.1 and Windows 7 pro. No problems. It just works. The only drawback being the audio. A port of Maxx Audio for linux would be nice. But, can't blame Dell on that.

I have just received my own 7470 and was wondering how do I use touch screen as you doing? I didn't get a manual.

I got the laptop as a gift, it's a massive upgrade over my 10-year-old laptop, SSD is awesome, the apps load almost instantaneously; hows the battery life for everyone else, I think it only lasts 3-5 hours on the better battery setting, great laptop nevertheless.

How's the 4k screen? Are the pixels completely unseeable? 4k videos play fine without stutter? Is your OS experience smooth and fast?

Appreciate the first impressions vid. I have my E7470 on order...should have it in my hands within the next few days. It will be replacing my 5-year old Dell Precision M4500. What happened there in the vid with the USB stick?

Hey Damir, fantastic work. Wish everyone could provide such in-depth reviews. I am now inching towards this option but need some last-minute convincing re. usage. In short I write a lot, that's my job.. Would this baby be more/less advisable than Thinkpad T460/470, if you have any experience of those machines? especially regarding Screen Quality and Keyboard comfort. The Thinkpads are marginally cheaper for comparable specs. Is the price difference justified for a DELL? My doubts are due to a brief stint I had with the Dell XPS 13 recently but the keyboard and touchpad failed to convince me. Thanks for any help/recommendations out there!!!

Nice laptop but I can't believe on a pro laptop you have to press Fn to use Home and End which are critical keys for developers. So damn unfortunate b/c these laptops are so close to being perfect it wasn't for that.
@ZacharyE7 жыл бұрын
I understand, but I also want to be able to use the up down left right. Lenovo has dedicated home and end and I really wish Dell had it. It's just a nuisance when I use those keys so often! :( The 7370 and 7470 are wonderful laptops but it's just a pet peeve! :(

Hm, try to check the fingerprint reader and NFC. Fingerprint reader is, I would say, utterly unusable and with NFC I could not get a read on my public transportation NFC tag. Other than that, a nice laptop so far.

I play GTA V, IV and a few others like Assassin's creed titles on it! Idk if that's bad but I do..and it handles it enough, tho GTA V is just okay in this one.... probably cuz I've single channel RAM!

Nice presentation of "first impressions," Damir, but I wonder if by now you have tried recording any audio (or video with sound) on this thing? I find it to be HORRIBLE for that!!! Sure it's a "business" machine but you should be able to record basic audio without every recording being ruined by LOUD internal noises, rushing and hissing sounds with every possible kind of microphone. I expected (and got) the worst from the "universal" 3.5 mm mic/headphone "combo" jack -- who asked them to invent those things, anyway? -- but the sound is perhaps even worse with any USB microphone, and even when I use an XLR mic with a good USB interface. Sure I use a desktop PC for best results, but I used to get decent, usable audio recording on my old Dell laptop. Not with this thing! I know it won't matter to everyone, but for me it's a major disappointment.
@danmagoo7 жыл бұрын
Damir, thanks for the quick reply and for dealing logically with my rant. I honestly don't know why the noise is so bad even when recording through the USB ports. I have multiple computers side-by-side so recording conditions are the same, and with any given microphone set-up, this laptop is the only PC that sounds like the ocean is roaring behind me. The audio quality in your videos is great, so I think you'd know bad audio if you heard this. My employer bought the laptop (probably bought a whole truckload), but if it was my money I'd return it. Instead I just have to record on other machines. I'm glad if you are having better success with yours, although I doubt it's your go-to KZfaq machine. Thanks again.
