INSTALLATION & REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS:
- STEP-1: Avoid static discharge by grounding yourself using a wrist grounding strap or by touching a bare metal surface like a connector on the back of the laptop and remove all the power including the battery and power adapter.
- STEP-2: Slide the battery latches towards the outside of the laptop until they click.

I have been working on pc repair for 15 years, this is the worst pc I have ever seen for getting to the hard drive, I am charging my customer $100 extra for the hassle. Great video , thanks

@@Canada_Immigration_Bible Hahahaha you guys made me laugh so hard... Come on, I have never done anything regarding computers, yet i could do it so easily thanks to this tutorial... I will agree that there are quite a few screws. but its not that terrible haha

with how sensitive they make those motherboards as well, this is asking for issues. not the worse i've done, but it's up there, and surprising that this came from Dell. Sony would do something dumb like this. agreed, i've been doing laptop repairs since 1995. this is a horrible design for the part that is most likely to fail. i would also up-charge for the extra labor, and warn the customer of the risk. it's low, but it's an unnecessary added risk.

I have an practically-new-condition N4010 with the electric-blue top and silver keyboard-bezel and black bottom and it's definitely sturdy and it's cabinet design is beautiful to look at and it has a nice bright and clear picture on the display. The stock 500 gig HD in mine pooped out a couple days ago. Dell sure buried it deep inside the set, no doubt... oh well, it's definitely worth the effort for me to tear it all down to nuts and bolts level and replace the HD and put it all back together again and reload it with BionicPup64 8.0 Puppy Linux and my favorite programs and files and stuff. The N4010 runs fast and awesomely with that elegant little OS controlling it.

I was just thinking about how crazy-fast the Puppy Linux would run with an SSD installed in this Dell.... the battery pack's charge would last a lot longer before needing to be recharged, too. What do you have in stock in the way of solid-state drives as replacements for the N4010's original mechanical hard-drive, Parts-People?

+nstorm2424 I don't know if I've ever seen a secondary hard drive caddy for the optical drive bay for this laptop. I would guess you would have to use a USB hard drive caddy instead.
