This is a short demo of my fan switch/controller project from a while ago which I implemented into my gaming PC, allowing me to connect nine high-speed server fans and power them safely from the PSU. If you have any questions please leave a comment below and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. :)

Man the sound of harmony produced by those fans at full speed sounds like a server

I thought JayzTwoCents would do something like this, but finally, someone made one. I hope you will show the temps of the CPU and GPU under load.

Yep - I have plans to do some fun temp comparison videos. :)

Those counter rotating intakes should make for killer radiator fans. As you might appreciate this, my turbomachinery propulsion class final project was on the fluid dynamics math behind a counter rotating 120mm computer fan 19 years ago in university. I still have that paper around here somewhere.... I should never have sold my FFB1212VHEs. They ran near silent (or what passed for quiet back then) at 3V and did really well as rad or case fans.

That sounds like a very interesting project! Some extremely complex fluid physics going on there for sure - I try to stay far from the maths side of things and instead focus on the practical aspect! :)

I love the circuity, it's a neat project. I used to run a corsair air 540 with an acrylic sheet sealing the top and 3x delta 120x38s (AFB1212SHE I believe) in the front on a simple linear voltage regulator controlled with a potentiometer outside of the case. With the straight front-back flow, it was pretty funny to see the CPU fan speed increase greatly when I ramped the case fans. I could manage pretty impressive overclocks on the 3770k and hd7950 I ran at the time. Might be time to revisit a super high airflow project for the fun of it.

Thank you :) It's a lot of fun building projects like this. In reality I don't have an actual use for any of these server fans but I've learned so much about electronics just by tinkering with them.

I want to see one of the 11k RPM fans eat a hotdog, just to know what would happen to my fingers.

Sick! Would love to see some way to visualise how much air is moving through the case

nice setup. i like ball bearing fans also. would you mind sharing your thermal values? cpu - gpu - case ..etc. i wonder how they are on low rpm and max rpm.

That's great for heavy overclocking and continuous full load on air. 😅 But the efficiency jumped out of the window. When I was mining crypto, my focus was the efficiency. So I became an efficiency freak. 😆

The thing with these fans is that they have an exponential power curve, so they can be run very efficiently at about 75% speed. If you're looking for the most efficient cooling possible, it would have to be a 140mm or 150mm fan as they will develop similar airflow with around 25% of the power draw, at the sacrifice of static pressure.

What cpu heatsink did you use? I want to replicate this setup, because I love the sound of these fans like people like the sound of engines on vehicles Well yea except I'ma use a Corsair 4000D playing it safe here

Nice! The heatsink here is Thermalright True Spirit 140 Power. I have since changed to a Noctua NH-D15, which is much better. :)
