Wish times like this could come back. America was something else when ads and jingles like this aired.

Oh god....we've lost sooooo much. This was when flying was still flying....late but still great. Grandma and Grandpa AT THE GATE waiting! God I miss the way it all used to be.

I remember seeing this ad back in 1987. I was about 18 or 19. I don't remember exactly which month in 1987 this ad first aired, but I turned 19 in August of that year. Seeing old commercials like this one really brings back fond memories of the good ol' days. The world was a much better place back then. I love the jingle for this ad, too. There"s just something about it that makes me smile.

What a great ad! Yes that little girl is so cute and precious. I get tear eyed when she says "that's my new friend" and runs up and hugs the stewardess and she hugs her back. I just break down. The passengers go through the gates with such ease and confidence. Everyone is in such good spirits and the stewardess is so helpful. If only the world was really like this This was real America when we all felt safe in our own country. Love this ad!

Sadly, it was a false sense of security. I think we all knew deep down that hijackings could occur on domestic flights just as well as ones overseas. I always felt uneasy when the workers at security checkpoints seemed to be zoning while they stared at the small black-and-white screen as carry-on luggage made its way through the x-ray tunnel.

+calvin777100 this ad got to me even when I was a kid when it aired. The little girl was adorable and the whole ad was just the way it was. Kids were cute, stewardesses were nice...I remember when I was a child and flew, I got wings. Such a touching commercial. Don't know why, but it makes me cry all the time.

I miss those days too...before Sept. 11th, my dad was traveling by plane to his job sites, and we'd drop him off and (when he was coming back), wait for him at the terminal/gate. I still remember one year before 9/11, I was overjoyed to see my dad come home after he was in Puerto Rico for one of his "out of the country" jobs :)

Some "full-sing" commercials had very catchy tunes we still remember after decades. About the only advertiser who still does full-sing now is Wayfair. And come to think about it, those are catchy tunes, too.

LOL, when my parents and my older sister (I don't think I was born yet) were on an L-1011, my sister ran around on the plane...when the seatbelt sign was turned off, of course :P

I think this commercial must have been filmed at ATL. I recognize the red coloring on the exterior of the concourse building at 0:10. The exterior of most of the concourses at ATL still looks exactly the same today.
@GlamorousTitanic216 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Beside ATL is Delta’s chief airport and their headquarters and museum are not far away.

Passengers , not the airlines chose todays fate. the public has decided low fares and poor service should win over a great experience. Only a few % really care. Its sad but true.

flying was fun in the 60's 70's and early 80's. because of deregulation it started to decline when the masses started to fly around this time period

Back during a time when people worked hard and were always happy, they didn't pick political fault with every single thing they saw around them. And if something offended them, they just looked the other way like you're supposed to do! Oh how I miss the 80's.
@msheart22 жыл бұрын
Yea right that was the problem people picking political fault, not the government not planned agendas, not the UN, not WHO not Gates, people picking fault.
