@@lynnmarielumiere2926 Palestine will live forever; if not on "Israel's" dishonest maps, then in the hearts and minds and writings and videos of every kind and caring person in the world. Palestine will never die, and "Israel" will never be respected, due to what it has done to Palestine and the Palestinian people. This I am sure of.

In 1954, John Pilger and I were both in class 3D at Sydney Boys' High School. I doubt if I ever talked with him, he was much more mature than me, and I doubt if I ever registered with him. But I always remember him. Even then he would question things - rules, beliefs, opinions, not in an insolent way, but with logic and eloquence. As he progressed through his career, I do not remember anything he ever said that I would disagree with. He was a great Australian, one of the greatest, and I only wish that our World's politicians took more notice of him. He was a better man than all of them! I never saw him again after 1954, but I will miss his humanity, eloquence and brave ciommitment. So will we all.

I have watched several of Pilgers documentaries, several times - and read a lot of his articles. To me he stands as a highly relevant, critical journalist and filmmaker, who personally was very social competent and peaceful. Intellectually very well equipped. Empathic. Eager. I will miss him as a human figure and his work a lot - but mostly I appreciate the enormous amount of journalism, he has provided to the world. A legacy of perspectives, analysis and representations of reality, we all can learn from. He will live on (in me and many others, as we see and hear) as a ghost of thought- and heartfulness.

On this New Year’s Day, I finally understand what the test of all true believers is. Not the dogma of our so called political or theological “leaders”. It is “Palestine”, in principle and fact, which is our ultimate test for all of us who profess to follow Abraham. A place where Jews, Christians, and Muslims can live together, in peace, and able to honor our small differences- essentially to honor our mutual humanity. Until this is accomplished, we shall all continue to know the severity of our Lord, and continue to be blind to what his benevolence is really about.
