As a bulls fan if you guys land DeMar you would be a serious contender to come out of the west. The guy is an automatic bucket and can carry you in a drought. We are in a rebuild so I understand why we aren’t bringing him back. Good luck Kings!!!!!!

His game doesn't rely on speed to score. He's crafty, amazing at drawing fouls, he can slow the game down. He will still be effective for a few more years and if he isn't it's not the end of the world his contract is pretty damn good and we won't have to give up any future assets. Think about the bigger picture. He will be on a 3 year contract, by the end of that he will probably be too old and we don't need to resign him. @@Dweller415

Nah, Kuzma fit the style but that doesn't necessarily mean he's a better player. Look, Barnes and Huerter fit the style too, that doesn't mean they're great. Kuzma is the same...he's no difference than Barnes....doesn't play or couldn't play defense. The statistics back up what I said about Kuzma. He may be slightly better than Barnes or Huerter but it doesn't mean anything if you don't play defense...which is what the Kings needed.

Why not both DeRozan and Kuma? Derozen would take huerter n second round picks, kuzma could take Barnes and a few first round picks. Can add filler to make it work but I think that could work

I’ve been saying since early last season-what this Kings team is missing is exactly DeMar DeRozan! The prospect of adding a player of his caliber on offense would fill the gaping hole in the Kings roster: a legitimate bucket getter. Fox can’t do it all on his own and though Monk was great in his own right, DeMar is so much more consistent and his basketball IQ is possibly the most underrated aspect of this whole prospective addition. I would low key compare his impact on this Kings team to Kawhi on the Raptors (ironically the guy DeMar was traded for). Kings need DeMar!

Awesome! Not super confident of the fit but can't knock DeRo who's still one of the best scorers and 4thQ/Clutch performers in the L. Almost 35 but still playing really well, and doesn't miss too much time with injuries. And for 20-25 mil, it's good value and upgrade over HB...allows them to be really competitive again until Keeg hit his prime!

people who wants Kuzma to kings probably don’t like Keegan to improve next season. Atleast that’s the vibes im getting. Keegan can literally replicate what Kuzma does, but more healthy and a better shooter.

Alright DeRozan can replace Huerter and be the starting 2 guard. So now we have Fox, DeRozan, Keegan, (need a legitimate PF), and Sabonis at the 5. This should work.

Maybe a Bobby Portis type at the 4. That lineup is a legit problem. Think Portis is on a super cool contract 4 or 5 million a year. Actually he is getting robbed for his production and toughness.

I agree with you. One long-shot to consider, Isaiah Chapman, Kings' new 2-way player, who was DPOY of Conference USA and has incredible defensive highlights. Chapman ranked second in the NCAA in Stocks percentage (steals + blocks) last year. Chapman shot 41pct from 3, is 6'6 with a 7'1 wingspan and 10"+ hands. Watch him in the California Classic!!

If we get DeRozan and Lauri for Huerter and Barnes, we are going to be really good. I am okay with giving up picks, but we must get those two guys. Keep Keegan no matter what. He is a two-way player like PG and Kawhi. We need players that will complement each other and the team's system. Coach Brown is known to be a defensive guy but showed in his first year that he has an offense up his sleeve. Let's stop being fans of names like Brandon Ingram, as he is not a healthy guy. It's like having a 40-year-old Michael Jordan on your roster. Be patient and be smart. This team is already good; they just need key pieces that will complement each other. The NBA is undergoing a paradigm shift towards team play. We already have stars in Fox and Sabonis; we just need to complete the puzzle of this team.

Yes an "avg real stat" 3 level scorer... We have HB who is close...but DeMar... He's a better fit and a better value imo for a 3 year contract with the Kings.

I think kings can get Kuz along with Derozan . If Keon is in the deal with Barnes and a first rounder for Kuz. I think Keon would be the icing on the cake where wizards can’t turn it down. As much as I love Keon , I would rather keep a first round pick . Whether we use that pick or trade it in the long run. Wizards wanted Davion Mitchell but I think if they knew Keon was included it would be a no brainer

I am by far a Kuzma fan in this trade but if we could get both that would be sick! Think about it I think that definitely puts us in title contention. But if we only get 1 I would prefer a bigger player at the 4, he is younger and his contract is better for the team overall. I don't think it would be a good idea to give a 3 year contract to someone who is 34 which is by far older than anyone else.

One of the Kings reporters (I thought it was you Matt) had someone who covers the Bulls on their show who mentioned that LaVine took a huge dip on the court after Dem DeR signed with Chicago. A part of me worries about the age, a part of me worries about the fit, and a part of me thinks he hinders Keegan’s Development and prevents us from seeing the best version of Fox. But let’s say you get Derozan for Huerter and start Malik. Derozan is an automatic 6 man of the year candidate and you can let him have the ball whenever he’s on the court. Dude i Can play 2-4 and is a bench upgrade at 3 positions for us. He also massively improves our ft situation in percentage and attempts per game.

Correct. But if you don't move Barnes in the deal, you can start DeRozan at the 2 and still keep Keegan & Barnes on the floor with him.

Irrelevant what his position says on paper. His game is the essence of a 2. Ala Kobe McGrady . At 6'7 great size at the 2. Then you go get a Bobby Portis type at the 4. Fox Derozan Murray Portis Sabonis. A legit problem for the league. I'd say we need another rim protector like Robert Williams type. I'd say give Dwight a call he'd said he was down.

I like DeMar, he's a hard worker and is reliable, but I still think we need better length with defense, at decent 3 point shooting. I think DeMar can work here if he chooses to lock down and shoot more 3s.

Definitely prefer Markinen, especially over Kuzma, because I suspect Kings would be a better rebounding team because of Markinen size IN COMBINATION WITH SABONIS REBOUNDING PROWESS. I figure more rebounding means more possessions means more scoring. Seems Markinen is a more consistent big man than is Kuzma. Then Markinen and the addition of DeRozan are massive improvements!!!

Derozan over kuzma without doubts. He gives as what we critically need atm, player that can create his own shot. And has more exp and bigger basketbal iq. If we land derozan we should also concidering landing covington and we are good. Also i hardly can imagine derozan playing at SG. He didnt play at that position last 5 years. He would be too slow. More of that it would remove starting role from Ellis, not only that he deserves that spot but also that would hurt our defence. Starting unit wouldnt become bigger, and we dont know how would murry feel at PF position, but knowing that we were at 29th place on defending 3pt i think its more impotant problem on defence then size.

I would say the kings don't necessarily have to trade for anyone. Remember the mavericks traded at the deadline midway or so through the season. Why not see what happens. They already have done a lot. Don't discount what they have done. A steal of the draft, a big guy who hasn't had time to play, trading off some players, signing Munk, still have many developmental players that need time on the court to get better.

Derozan for a couple M’s more is worth. He’s a lot better player than Kuz, efficiency and IQ wise alone. Leadership and intangibles too.

@@johannm5168 no doubt DeRozan is a great player, but his age and money worry me if this is the only trade. Either way we improve. We need Keegan to step up now and hopefully Keon also gets better.

This feels like a desperation move. He’s 35 and is more of a shooting guard, not the long and athletic wing they need. Sadly the Kings can’t do better this offseason.

He's literally long (6'6" w 6'9" WS) and athletic and has been playing wing for 3 seasons 🤦🏽

@@Chudley716 Paul George gets paid more than Double and misses an average of 20 games More than Deebo. Rather the availabilty on a team that doesnt need him to be the 1st option. And DeRozan has actually been splitting time between SF and PF for the Bulls, Barely playing SG. Probably says more about the Bulls than DeRozan. But he hasnt been an SG since his Toronto days.

Do you think that DeRozan can be to the Kings as Iggy was to the Warriors? The great dynasties (my definition is 3 titles in 5 years) main stars of the NBA have all broken a certain narrative about the sport. Bill Russell- You can't win with a defensive oriented center and you can't win with a black guy as your main star. Larry Bird and Magic Johnson- you can't win with a non center as your best player. Michael Jordan- you can't win with a score first guard Kobe and Shaq- you can't win with friction between teammates Tim Duncan- you can't win if you're boring Steph Curry- you can't win as a 3pt shooter Fox- you can't win as a mid range shooter? 🤔 If the Kings can somehow get Ingram or Kuzma AND DeRozan, hold on to your seats, because I think that propels this team to its first ring in 74 years and POSSIBLY a new dynasty.

Demar is going to Spurs… no middle or high tier player would join the Kings if they really get to choose… Sac is a big village, almost no nba player wants to go live there… MB will play HB once again this season and i can bet that the Kings won’t make the playoffs…

Your facts are mixed up Matt. Derozan is a better defender than Kuzma. Derozan def rating=118 Kuzma=120.1 We don't need Kuzma, he doesn't improve this team whatsoever. He belongs in Washington where he can continue to cherry pick and play the star on a losing team. Just let the man get paid and lose in peace why don't you???

I hope they keep Huerter. He is much better for what the Kings' offense needs. I mean, if they can keep Kevin and still get DeMar, I still believe that the Kings' roster is good. But to be great, they just need to add key pieces. They don't need a Paul George-type name; they need an Aaron Gordon-type player, a key piece.

If the Kings were a finished product looking for some reliable scoring help? Maybe a high level 6th Man type? I'd say good move. However thats not the case. So, sideways move with a bit of an upward slant at best. DeMar is solid, hard worker, good guy. Will help win you some games. He's not a fixer, though. And shouldn't be a primary closer on a team with serious aspirations.

Demar is a 6 time All star who is incredibly durable to this point in his career. Top 3 Clutch POY 2 years in a row and averaged 24ppg last season. He's not a 6th man or Role player like you make him sound. Jesus he's a huge talent and veteran leadership upgrade and won't cost us our picks.
