Is it just me or do y’all miss the classic purple covenant vehicles from halo CE-5. There just more iconic and desirable.

Good job on getting the review out, I've been waiting on one. I think all of the issues commented on with this set wouldn't have been an issue if the designer had an additional $50 in the budget allowing for 5-600 more pieces. This would have aloud for a ship very similar in size to the Pelican inbound with a similar piece count, it also would have aloud for the additional detailing and printed pieces the set lacks. I think the budget was just too tight on this set to do it justice unfortunately. it still looks good but as you say 'could have looked better'.

The plain doors are actually very accurate to the game, I think it could’ve used some weathering pieces though

Lore background as to the mismatched armor. In the newest novel, Halo The Rubicon Protocol, which takes place from the destruction of the Infinity to wear Halo Infinite starts. Really fun read and I recommend it greatly. After the infinity fell, UNSC forces Gathered at a downed UNSC frigate. This frigate was used as the base of operations and they were over two dozen Spartans that had gathered here along with the rest of the military. After a devastating attack from the Banished,, UNSC forces became widespread and heretofore the Spartans no longer had technicians to Calibrate and fix any problems with their Mjolnir armor. Although it killed the Spartans inside, they had to scavenge replacement parts from their fallen brothers. For this reason, many of the Spartans had multiple variants and pieces of Mjolnir armor upon them.

Finally, they can finally make the halo infinite Escharum cutscene with this set.

I actually think the banished phantom has some charm and I personally think mega nailed the design of the phantom at least on the outside to me the interior has something left to be desired but besides that it’s an amazing set and the characters to me are great!

It is so nice to finally see a deep dive into this thing after seeing numerous people on Facebook posting about how they've gotten their Phantoms and then zero follow-up of any kind. No review, no images, just nothing. I've been wanting to see this thing up close, opened, with figures, etc. for weeks now.

I agree there is room for improvement here. Not a single banished symbol printed piece for the vehicle drives me nuts. I dont think I will use the ball joint pieces on the top and will use a more practical way to lock those sections from the top instead. Great review and comparisson. Now I feel like watching Brickman117's version and dream of a day Mega will release that version lol

Super cool set, looks very accurate to in game model. I like that the side guns can stay out while rest of sides stay closed like the in game version. An alternative build and the fact that model can be opened up to create a playset are next level features. As a kids toy the possibilities are endless for fun. I would have loved to have this in my youth and I will love having three to four on my shelf now!

And yes your right the Phantom and Pelican should be much bigger than the Falcon. On rare occasions a Phantom could actually carry Banshees with it. And the Phantom looks alittle too small to carry a Wraith effectively

I've been so excited,this is such an awesome looking set but for the price is a lil hmmm especially with the few hiccups of breaking spots and the turrets only in one peg,but with the price of the jega mold it makes sense,maybe see if I can get a good sale or something in the set, pretty neat set still especially for diorama and just everything+ jega😩 gummy eschuram and the panel is perfect,gives us a chance to get a new phantom finally and some decent play value,so happy a review is up ive been constantly checking for them 😂 great video/reveiw as always 👏👏

My theory as to why you get the quality control issues is what I refer to as the reviewer curse. Many of the KZfaqrs I follow that do building set reviews have them too.

Ok Zee, that literal snap build was some amazing editing and transitioning. Freaking cool enough that I had to show my wife your Thanos Snap LOL.

I was able to fit about six figures inside; seven, including a pilot, or nine, including the two gunners on the side. I had two grunts, a jackal, two elites, and a brute inside, then an elite piloting it, and one grunt on each side

to add onto what you were saying about preordering through mattell, I recently got back into the mega halo scene and Reach has, and probably will stay, my favorite halo game ever. I've played through it a ton of times and always loved it so when I heard of the falcon set, I instantly tried to preorder it. I preordered through deep discount super early on and it was cancelled randomly. So I went to entertainment earth and preordered it only for that to get cancelled as well. Now I'm sitting here waiting for preorders or just general restock to open up so that I can attempt to get my hands on one without having to pay scalper prices.

I like that there's all the studs on the top It let's you make the type of shenanigans that goes on in Infinite's Campaign

If you remove the helmet from the brute captain, you could pretend he's Gorian from the Rubicon Protocol. Gorian and Jega actually spend a lot of time together, and while Griffin's capture isn't focused on in the book, it would make sense that Jega and Gorian got to him with a phantom.

I too have an overabundance of shock rifles, and only one is painted. Both of my grunt mules have three on their back, and then multiple brutes are using them in my diorama, and I still have some in my extras bin. The only person who needs that many shock rifles is Mint Blitz. Frankly, I think they're just really proud of the mold (it's actually really good, and they didn't have to cut corners or stocks to make it fit)

I'm looking at my normal Escharum rn (from the first set I ever got) and the gummy actually has more detail. I do hope that they make a Heroes version of him (not before Atriox tho) so we have a better version with the Diminisher of Hope and a helmet

32:20 yes the falcon is about 2/3rds the size of a phantom and is more the size of a pelican. However some like myself believe that the falcon is the unsc equivalent of a phantom. Think about it: Hornet->banshee Falcon->phantom Pelican->sprit Condor/vulture->litch

I can definitely see where the critiques come from with this set, and it is a shame that they didn’t do just a bit more on the ship itself, however… I do think overall it looks quite nice. I think that especially at some of the same prices you see now (about to pick this up for $82 with an additional 20% off (so maybe about $66ish total,) it is definitely worth the price of admission. I’m really hoping that we get a full assortment of banished sets, and then mega can start to revisit the covenant designs that we haven’t had a new version of.

Ordered it through Amazon at midnight when it was available for like 10 minutes, it arrived on the 10th of September, I agree with you, super fragile and definitely not for grunts.

I just finished building mine and I swapped the turrets on the side with the red turrets from that one combat pack, it looks really good!

The best way to open it is lifting the canopy piece out and then grabbing the phantom by the middle in between both of the separate pieces (as if you are pinching it with both hands) You require very minimal force and the phantom has not broken up on me by opening it up like this

It's my third comment on this vid alone but I, so far haven't had any problems with anything falling off easily. And the troop space is perfect for my figures and what I want to put in it!

Great review. I definitely agree with your complaints about the size and the side doors lacking detail. The doors also look like they stick out to far. Question, I recently bought the Ghost of Requiem set which I really like. However, my tan marine had a hand that won’t fit in to his lower arm all the way and falls out. Is there a way to fix it? Can I get a new hand/arm from mega? I’m not sure whether the lower arm is faulty or the hand.

I had the 2011 phantom set and it’s leaps and bounds above this, I could’ve made this as a moc when I was a child

32:32 It's because Megas Falcons are way oversized while their dropships are massively undersized (a Covenant/Banished Phantom for instance would be between 66cm and 70cm long depending on which kind of Elite, Brute or Spartan figure it's scaled to). Actually most of Megas small vehicles (Ghost, Mongoose, Wraith, Scorpion, Warthog, ect.) are oversized (though not as much as the Falcon) while their heavy hitters (Scarab, Mammoth, Pelican) are massively undersized

after watching this, still looking forward to my one.. (when Mattel Creations actually delivers lmao) gonna have to do some custom work, probably do my own review on it though reviews aren't my area of expertise exactly. personally I'm happy it's not as big as the Pelican, I know this is gonna be a "hot take" but I think the Pelican has set the bar too high for what the "big" set of the waves are, as good as the pelican is, they started focusing more on playset choices over actual structure we have an openable phantom now purely so kids can open it up and store stuff inside to play with, but the sacrifice is having a fragile overall build. same thing happened to the Pelican, that thing feels easily breakable... hell it is, I've broken mine 2 times now as it's not a solid structure still, looking forward to it, gonna just hollow out my Phantom and use the hologram for other mocs, customise some more detail on the exterior and have it on display I think.

I swapped out the ball joint for a clip because my friend warned me that the ball joint connection could rip the phantom apart. Overall the set is pretty good but it is way more fragile than i expected.

Man when you said this was fragile you weren't lying, I was getting pretty irritated with everything coming apart once I started the main middle section and the doors. For what it is though it looks pretty cool

Yeah it's not perfect but I like it and I usually glue my sets anyways. I really like the fact I can have a smooth display or a openable pose area.

I'm so excited to get this set but the quality control issues are soul crushing. I think I'd prefer Mega take their foot off the gas with the intricate detail printing until they get QC for the figures on lock, I don't think I get a single set that doesn't have at least one figure that needs to be sent back. It's kind of annoying to have to do work (calling up customer service) after assembling the set to get it complete, while I know a Lego box contains nothing but smooth sailing from start to finish. Not even to mention Blind Bags. I'd say 1/3rd of my Mega Construx blind bag pulls contain some QC issue, usually short shot upper arms. It's not just you, Demarcation. I get them like crazy.

Compared to the covenant phantom side by side, I'm glad its only like a few millimetres of difference between the two sets lengthwise.

My opinion of the set is mixed. I don't care for spartan griffin, but I appreciate mark 7 spartans anyway. The Blademaster is a fantastic figure over-all, and the brute captain is meh, but I currently don't have one. Gummy Escharum is a great figure and I'm interested in what I can do with that for stop motion or a diorama. The phantom itself is eh, and I get the feeling that they could've made the design better, and I can tell a lot of differences to the in-game version. But I like it since I don't really have a good troop carrier (not going to buy the banished skiff). Overall, it's a meh build with a great figure selection, I think it's worth the buy tbh (only because I have no phantoms in my collection, and I need one eventually).

2:07, I think that might be Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan, and as for the other one, it’s no doubt that would be Kakashi Hatake from Naruto franchise (white hair with a scar on his right Sharingan eye which he usually hides with his Konoha headband, and usually rocks a mask to conceal his identity). Now, onto the figures, I love how Escharum looks, as being well detailed for a gummy red figure since it makes sense for Mega to do that as he usually talks to Master Chief. Personal favorite one would be the black Elite with a robotic arm, which I’m happy with Mega doing the robotic arm so well, they only need to make a more functional one for Spartans, which the arm does move and turn, and the hand turns as well. Griffin does look very unique, and even though I never saw him in his full armor, I love the mismatched coating his armor has as its already growing on me ever since I saw that dark grey/red Mark VII Spartan figure, which reminded me of the US Marine Raiders wearing grayish soft shell jackets over their M81 Woodland combat uniforms. As for the Banished Phantom, it looks very cool, though I’m afraid of breaking a part off from it, and I’m a little bit frustrated to hear about some Brutes not fitting properly on the base plates because of their feet mold, they are cool figures, but Mega needs to balance this out. And, seeing you cramming the figures in there, I’m sure it’ll be so claustrophobic in there, and even others smelling so stinky as they’re way too close. 😂

I think they were going for the rusted details on Spartan Griffin due to the other spartans in infinite's campaign have greyest rust in em but i could be wrong

i think the first anime tag is Anko Mitarashi (side character in Naruto) The second is defiantly Kakashi Hatake from Naruto (Naruto shippuden is the best anime highly recommend watching with a filler list to skip filler episodes. Or just watch the filler its still good)(only if you are interested of course lol) I agree NO MORE SHOCK RIFLES (maybe if they were all red it would be better) Also i would argue the better gummies are the Cortana figures Esharum (i cant spell it) is number 2 in my opinion

While I am looking forward to getting this set soon, I have to say its very disappointing. For starters, I wish we got atleast 2 more figs for the price and the fact that this is a troop carier. Like a couple Grunts or a Marine and another of that same Brute Captain. better yet, move Griffin to the Scorpion and put Stone in another Infinite set (this year's line up could have used like 1 more set tbh) and make this set have all Banished. But besides the minifigs, the build itself is very undersized. I would have liked a new Phantom to be bigger than the old one. Not the same size. Also, it seems like the build was a bit rushed as it doesnt hold together well at all going off of your review. I think it would have been worth an extra 50 bucks to try and make this set be similar in size to the Harvester as well as be more structrerlly stable along with some more figures. Lets hope that the next time we get a Phantom like a Covenant one, they go all out and make it a full on sig set.

As I've learned with lego sets, large sets will always be undersized as an accurate sized set would cost too much for most people. I wish they'd do something like Lego UCS but it'd be financially unviable for MEGA

Idk I'm very conflicted with this set I never got the original phantom but this one just doesn't do it for me :( and with what issues are presented in this review with this set its going to be a very sad/ disappointing pass for me not even the figures that are included in this set are enough for me to want and purchase this set...
