In Goa, a row has broken out as to how best to commemorate the death of the 'King of the Hippies' - Eight Finger Eddie. The 85-year-old - who died last October - is widely credited with putting Goa on the tourist map. Friends of Eddie want to erect a statue of him at the Anjuna flea market he helped to set up - But as Howard Johnson reports from Goa- tourist officials are keen to distance the state from its hippy past.

My first ever trip abroad from UK, Magic Bus to Delhi, 1978/79. Ended up in Anjuna. Manu and Suresh, Glenn and Xavier, Joe Banana's... and EDDIE...As an ex-HA, it took a while for him to converse with me. lol. But, when he did......WHAT a man. Most remarkable person I ever met. Will treasure the conversations we shared. Rest gently my good friend..

ew "High end tourists" are attracted to golf courses and convention center. Can you just building those in Florida and call it a day?!

Tbh, I wouldn’t want to travel there if it was infested with that crowd. Prefer more of a Hawaii type experience. Nice hotels, cleanliness, and not crowds of begging drug addled hippies
