Hi Mike: Very nice demonstration. The Makita I think is a little better than the Ridgid model but a little more expensive. I hope Milwaukee comes out with one soon before I make up my mine to get one. noticed the portable air conditioner we used to have one in our bedroom with the hose out the window and they sure cool the room quickly . This is interesting. I have been hesitant to go to a cordless router due to them using massive amounts of power. But in retrospect, I don't do a ton of routing. Just quick cuts to fix things. I don't build, typically for customers, I repair things. I have a hodgpodge of tools from 20v dewalt, Porter cable, and Makita, hell i even have a Ryobi corded hammer drill. So going with that brand would be no biggy. Also, you couldn't give me a house in city limits or especially in a HOA. My shop is off a highway but in a unincorporated area so I get to do what ever I want. I do have one of them same air conditioners you have, it's just a backup for the shop.

I used the Ryobi cordless router for 10yrs.to router deck parts...then went to the Ridgid cordless router., recently...not much difference between this Makita and the Ridgid.....wish DeWalt had one as that's my platform.....great video

Never put the router down flush with the table when there is a bit in it. Turn it upside down and rest it on the battery. This way you will never damage the cutting edge of a router bit

I have been eyeing the portable ac units myself, I have to wear those 1980s McEnroe headbands in the shop in the summer months just to keep from dripping sweat on the wood I will be finishing. I have a similar problem with the HOA and where an outside unit would have to drop :(

I have the corded version and find that the router height drifts. Have you experienced this? This was the main reason Ron Paulk went with the DeWALT., it did not move.
