Hi I have read about how all the watchers are asking what she sprayed on the canvas? I watched another video artist ! He said it was a light coating of UV protector! So the inks , paint are protected from sun . Also they don’t get disturbed ,bleed while you are working on the texture or embellishments. You are adding to the top of your painting . I hope this helps😊☃️

You show exactly what I was looking for. The Giclee print you can't feel the texture like a real paint. It makes a difference. Thank you!!

Bravo. Thank you for not being boring - and being interesting and concise and mildly funny and aware of your audience's state. You must be a very intelligent lady. Also, thank for the extremely useful information - it's simple stuff, and that's the best kind.

Hi Jackie I love the way you add texture to your prints. I have been learning digital painting myself and thinking about eventually making canvas prints and adding texture to them as well. Lack of texture is a big draw back of digital painting(if you intend to make prints) but adding gel mediium and painted details solves this problem indeed. Thank you so much for making this video!

Hi Tara I really appreciate the conversation. Yes it does add so much to the print. Of course, then there is the issue of most of my customers don't want to pay the additional charge for embellishing, and prefer to pay less and have a decoration of art for their home! The struggle between being and artist and selling art commercially. I've come up with a body of work that is not embellished and then a body of work I will not offer any way but embellished. I call it meeting them half way. Cheers

This video was very helpful. Also, regarding comments about the mentioned spray... I saw a different video by Bellevue Fine Art Repro that mentions spraying canvases also. I believe they recommended a protective UV spray before coating giclee canvas prints.

Hi Jeffe You are absolutely correct in your reply to Philippe Colin. It has always been my desire to provide people with affordable art. Giclee prints offer that as an alternative to selling originals. And you are absolutely correct, that adding texture does turn the print into a "pigment ink and acrylic" original. There will never be another piece exactly like this one. I do work in small editions, from 25 to 99 per image. Thanks for your understanding.

Hi Jackie. I really enjoyed your video! I want to try adding texture to my own giclee prints. You mentioned in your video that your giclee was prepared with a spray before you added texture. What kind of spray is needed? Thanks! Joann

Hi Jackie,Thanks so much for the video. I am struggling to find a good brush to apply the acrylic without get lots of brushstroke lines or having issues with the start and stop points. Can you please tell me which brushes you show here- the two larger ones you first show on video. I am printing photo directly to gloss canvas then using varnish mix.

Really? The artwork is hers. She painted the original. She is working on a Giclee. Artists paint an original and get a digital copy of it. Then they can sell high quality reproductions. This last step adds another dimension.

Hi Jackie, I only saw your video yesterday. As Dick Blick has taken over Utrecht, the names and designs of the products have changed. They don't have the "Utrecht Gloss Medium and Varnish" anymore.. I called in and they told me that the product now is called "Matte Medium" and "Gloss Medium" (by utrecht) ... However, on the side of the jar it says "fluid" ... Is that the same one? Could you please guide me... I want to experiment.... Thank you !!

Hi Jackie love your video where do you print your canvas and what size do you used as you print size?

Just noticed your comment. I provide this service at $5 per sq. ft. Example: a 44"x60" print on canvas would cost $91. Shipping is typically less than $15. We are based in Raleigh. yourcitycanvas.com , Jeff.

Thank you Jackie This is helpful. Did you mean that you spray the gloss canvas with a protective coat before adding the texture? If so, what do you use? Also, I am looking for an affordable place to print giclee canvas images. Do you have any suggestions?

because going digital is going for a different medium. Digital Painting or digital art is another medium. If you look at it there very good digital artists & there others who are not that good. It is still a matter of the artistic vision of the doer of the art. It is simply a tool that one uses to express oneself. This is one of the dilemma that us artists face everyday. Either we stick to tradition? or explore what this era that we live in offers. Or we live in both.

Is what you sprayed it with a secret?

I think the spray reference was about the printer spraying the ink on to the canvas. I don't think there was a protective coating over the print before painting.

Thank you for your warm comments, there was no ill intent from my part, I was just wondering why one would use subsidies in such a convenient manner and call it an effort in creativity? I can understand the aim but I have trouble defining the mean and calling this talent, I was struck by the imbalance between the excess of mercantilism and the lack of art. I suppose, as Machiavelli said " the aim justifies the means". You are right I am a mediocre artist maybe one day I will understand.
@philippecolin15111 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why you do not simply paint a flower on canvas? you seem to be an experienced artist, why do you need the help of a mechanized printed canvas probably coming from a digital photography to paint a flower or anything else for that matter... Is it an artistic shortcut to monetize inabilities and lack of talent?
@eudymaverickmentor6 жыл бұрын
@ Phillippe You wrote "I don't understand why you do not simply paint a flower on canvas?". The answer, she did. You wrote "Is it an artistic shortcut to monetize inabilities and lack of talent?" No, it has nothing to do with "inabilites" or "lack of talent". If you read her comments you will see that she painted an original, that would cost a lot of money to buy. She makes high quality archival Giclee prints to sell that are much cheaper for people who do not want to spend the money on an original. Then she has two versions of her prints. The cheapest ones are straight Giclee prints. The medium priced ones are where she goes back on top of the Giclee prints and hand paints back on top. In some areas she enhances the color with hand painted color and other areas she is adding in brush strokes by adding in a clear gel coat on top. So she is monetizing her work to three distinct demographics of buyers. She is a very smart individual who understands her market and adapts to it. Think of it this way. You are going to a restaurant. Do you want the $50 steak, the $15 steak, or the hamburger? She lets you decide. Either way she makes money. So a question to you. If she doesn't hand grind her paints and make them from scratch is she cheating? If she uses store bought paint brushes instead of making them by hand does she have a lack of talent? If she buys premade and stretched canvases is it because she has an inability to do so? Do you know what limited edition prints are? Is Robert Rauschenberg not a great artist because he incorporated found objects into his paintings? If I use an airbrush to paint a painting is it not true art because I never physically touch the canvas with a brush? If I use a grid system to transfer a drawing I made to a large canvas am I cheating? I understand your comments and my assumption is that you are just uneducated as to the world of art and the world of an artist. Anything an artist decides to do, any method to create art, is totally within the realm of an artist to do so. As long as they are up front and honest as to their intent and methods.
