Talking Feds with Harry Litman

Күн бұрын

With the campaign underway in earnest, the question of whether Trump can be held accountable for his constitutional misconduct and alleged crimes becomes ever more paramount. A fantastic round table of Jamie Raskin, Jacob Weisberg, and Christine Todd Whitman join Harry to discuss the series of current challenges with the R House of Rep; the US Supreme Court; the state & federal courts where Trump is a criminal defendant; and the American people, who may or may not be paying close attention.
-
TALKING FEDS PODCAST is a roundtable discussion that brings together prominent former government officials, journalists, and special guests for a dynamic and in-depth analysis of the most pressing questions in law and politics.

Please urge your friends not to judge most Americans too harshly. Ultimately, we are here because our democracy is EXTREMELY unrepresentative. If every voter’s vote counted equally, Trump would never have been elected in 2016 and would have no chance of election in 2024. What you’re seeing is a perfect storm of evil white nationalist silos and minority rule.

The 2 party system doesn't work if the 2nd party refuses to govern. If the Dems can partner with the forward party then they can get something done for the American party. The Dems must realize they don't have a willing partner in the Republican party anymore. The American people must wake up. The 2 party system is the problem.

Removal of the electoral college and the US Senate would increase the power of the national popular vote and decrease the power of one-party-captured low-population states, but would not make the country a direct democracy (government by referendum); the country would still be a representative democracy (government by elected representatives).

The “abortion pill” has traditionally been used when victims of rape are going through that humiliating “rape kit” exam at a hospital when law enforcement is called in- I’m surprised that common scenario hasn’t been talked about. No woman should have to leave a hospital with the additional fear of pregnancy.

It’s amazing to me that even with choice available how many babies are carried full term and then dumped in trash bins and bathrooms. I can imagine how much more this would occur when choice is taken away. By the way fascists: women were taking care of women before roe v wade and women will continue to take care of women after dobbs. If we can get a full house, senate, president in as dems - perhaps this new law granting rights to all can be made bullet proof by the more intelligent among us.

Note to Raskin: Don't frame it as "$60 billion for Ukraine", instead the Dems need to frame it as "A $60 billion package to American arms manufacturers to provide supplies to Ukraine". Or something similar. Intelligent people hear the first version and know it's arms and ammunition going to Ukraine, the rest hear it and think you want to air drop bags of cash to Ukraine.
