Too often, we live with divided hearts. On the one hand, our hearts are devoted to God. We want God’s best for our lives. We want God’s kingdom to come. On the other hand, we continue to allow places in our lives where evil and sin persist. This episode explores the life of King Asa and our deeply human tendency to be devoted to God without tearing down the high places in our lives. By the end of this episode, you’ll know how to identify the high places in your life and begin the process of demolishing them for good.

Wow, this entire episode made me stop dead in my tracks! I have always associated 'the high places' with Ps 18:33 and Habakkuk 3:19, but of course, high places have a very different meaning in that context. Is the same Hebrew word used in both contexts?

Yes. It's the word bamah, and it's the same word these two texts as in 1 Kings 15:14.

Duet 12:1-5 gives a description of high places....please don't run away from what high places actually are. They might not exist in the literal sense in your world but they are there in the true biblical sense in most places and are being practised. There are high places where principalities and powers of darkness are sought by children of the most high God .They are born again but fail to follow the decrees of Christianity esp those that become greedy for power. ....they perform idolatry in the literal sense.

Hey Denn, what passage are you drawing from? According to 1 Kings 12:28-29, “After seeking advice, the king [Jeroboam] made two golden calves. He said to the people, 'It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.' One he set up in Bethel, and the other in Dan.”

@@dennsigauke6817 Ah, great passage reference. Well done. So that passage is referring to the fact that Gilgal became an important worship center for the Israelites, but it doesn't negate the reference in 1 Kings 12 that Jeroboam originally set up golden calfs at both Bethel and Dan, which was the point I was making in this teaching episode.
