I was only 20 years old and had been on the road for a little over a thousand miles on my bike by myself. I stopped at a gas station when a couple of 1%ers pulled in behind me. I hopped of my bike and started stretching out my stiff back when I looked over and all 3 of us were doing the same stretches. We all had a bit of a laugh, talked about needing more comfortable seats, talked about miles road and miles ahead. After I came out of the store, they offered me the opportunity to cruise with them for a few miles until their next exit. It one of my favorite riding memories. A couple of super chill old timers enjoying the road. I must've done something right.

When I was younger I went around a couple of cars in traffic so I could pull up next to a Warlock. I asked him if he could pull over with me at the gas station ahead and talk to me about what it took for membership, he did. We shook hands, introduced ourselves and he respectfully answered all of my questions. I won’t say his name but he’s damn good man.

My dad was a police officer and had arrested several Bandidos in his time. He said he always treated them with respect and made sure to call the flat bed wrecker, when he had to, so their bikes wouldn't be damaged from the tow. My dad rode a Harley as well. There was an occasion where two of them approached us out in public, one of them was called Cactus Jack I believe, and said hello. They obviously weren't going to be friends with a cop but they were friendly and shot the shit with us for a few. I've learned a lot from my dad and miss him a lot.

I'd just rebuilt the engine on my pickup when I stopped at a little Iowa gas station to tune it. A great man approached me and asked if he could help. He was a wrench in life and just there for the club meeting heading to Sturgis. Even with my aftermarket parts he adjusted my timing by ear, we reset the plugs and EFI and he drove it to the stop sign then launched a few times. When I explained I pull a trailer heading to Montana, he readjusted the timing and schooled me on how to set the TBI once I got to elevation. As a fellow rider I was honored to have the help even though he hadn't seen my bikes or could have known I was a rider. Modern technology still escapes me on engines so I was glad to have the help and knowledge. I make it a point to always show LLH& RESPECT to all club members. I was a single Dad at the time, just getting out of the Army due to disability, that man gave so much in an hour in a gravel lot he'll never know. I am eternally grateful! You are in my prayers Hoka Hey

My man and I were at a gas station just the other day and another rider pulled into the pumps, walked right over to him, and the first thing out of his mouth was “What club are you with?” and “Do you know (so and so)?” My man wasn't wearing his cut, just a vest, and t-shirt hadn't said a word to him yet! This dude was straight up 5-0, trying to look like a biker! All my man did was shake his head, told him to have a good day, and we rode off! Normally he’ll speak with anyone that approaches him the right way (like you, T-Rod and Fetch just talked about) Ya just gotta be able to read people! Much Love!❤️

EVERY encounter I have had with any 1% er has always been cool and casual. It didn't hurt that I went to school with quite a few dudes that went that route, so I was pretty well versed in their culture at a young. Prime example! My daughters school was 2 blocks from a small clubhouse, and she had to walk past it to get to school. My daughter, 14 was being bullied on her walk home by 2 older boys. It was almost summer time, and 3 full patch members were out front bbq'ing, and saw what was happening. They started walking over and one of the boys took off right away, the other thought he would be a tough guy...lol....no severe, physical contact was made, but I can tell you, my daughter was NEVER bullied again. They even walked her the rest of the way home and told her, to tell them, if those boys or anyone else ever bothered her again. I actually dropped off a case of beer and some homemade pasta to them later that night, as a thank you, when I heard what happened! It would be great if the media would show the GOOD they do for the community. Do you know how many toys drive some of their chapters do at Christmas time? Bicycles they have bought for kids, whose families can't? It's like anything in life, not just in the outlaw MC world; if you go looking for trouble, you will find it! But if you give respect, you're honest and sincere, 99.9% of the time, you will receive the same. MLLHR, Sose!

Having spent a few years working at an HD dealer, I met a lot of 1%ers. Most of them were nice people who just enjoyed motorcycles, brotherhood, and having a good time. I can honestly say that I never felt nervous or in any danger talking with them. For the most part (in the shop at least) they were pleasant guys. I'm the Vice President of my club and not to long back I had a run in with a Outlaws M.C. member. First off I want to acknowledge the fact the man was checking in on my cut and wanting to know who we was. The 1%er was straight serious when he first approached me about my cut, I showed him respect, removed my glasses and took off my gloves and answered his questions solidly and respectfully. When it was all said and done everything was good, he stuck his hand out, we shook hands and both rode away. I believe this situation goes a long way to proving that respect given is returned. I would also like to point out that this situation is the stereo typical situation where most people think that a 1%er is going to lay you out and take your cut or muscle you over for wearing a patch that ain't theres...now I do realize that I'm lucky that I ran across a chill 1%er because the situation could have been different.

Couple of the dudes were happy to show theirs off. No issues, making jokes, talking bikes and when they were about done, shook hands again and went back to my bike. Good dudes. I did security a few years ago in L.A. for movies and TV. One location I was at had over 100 Mongols milling around. As I walking to my car I accidently stepped on one guys foot. I guess he saw the expression on my face because he laughed and then I did. 😂

I live in Kentucky if you couldn’t tell by my name lol and I met 4 members of the Hells Angels that were passing through for little Sturgis. I told one gentleman I loved his Indian and his reply while laughing was “Should’ve seen the guy I took it from!” Joked and laughed for about 10 minutes. They’re humans just like us, just chose a path that fits them. Thanks for the video brother

My approach is simple: When I see a patched member that I don't know I always say excuse me, then tell him how much I respect those colors he's wearing, then I introduce myself and offer my hand. I've never had a problem, ever. But, if he doesn't want to speak to me, I get it and will show appropriate respect, and leave him alone. But still, no problem, ever.

I just found your channel and I absolutely love it because you are informing the general public what to do and what not to do which is super important. I grew up with bikkies (I’m Australian that’s what we call MC members) & I was taught always be respectful just because they ride for a club they are still good people. If I see a member on the street I will always compliment their bike coz I know how much pride they have in it. Also here in Sydney every Christmas the biggest MC does a toy run & delivers toys to the children’s hospitals, this is proof they aren’t bad people like the media makes them out to be.

I've said before and I'll say it again, I know a good number of 1%ers because of the business I'm in and I speak to them as I do anyone else and I have NEVER had one treat me badly. Of course, I tend to treat EVERYONE respectfully unless I'm treated disrespectfully myself. Honestly, they have been some of the coolest dudes I know, I speak to them about bikes and riding. I don't ask too many questions about their clubs, they may mention small things about it, I just respond to whatever they say ..... it's good not knowing to much about some things!!!

I used to live down the street from a Hells Angel. This guy had a sidecar that he had installed because there was a fellow biker who had developed some health problems and couldn't ride. His brothers always picked him up when it was time to go. They'd put him in the sidecar and off they went. That guy changed my view of some bikers. They may act all rough and tough, but they weren't going to leave a brother behind. I know there's often a lot of negatives to being in an MC club, but this guy took care of his brother.

I'm good friends with a diamond club. Always greeted with open arms at the clubhouse. I took my woman to one of their oarties. Had a great time. The pres helped us unfold the couch to sleep on. As a a veteran who works in health care, I treat everyone with the utmost respect and courtesy. I hung out with a group of like 6 people at my local bar for a few years before realizing they were 1%ers, normally I would have been worried before due to the way media had portrayed. But since they had already been my good buddies I hung out with daily. It was fine lol. They are actually the coolest group of guys i know. They know I'm not like that, I'm kinda goofy and a bit of a comedian. I'm actually supris3d they let me get away with half the shit I've said before. But, I guess they knew my intent was just to give them a good laugh lol. But I probably wouldnt have said/done certain stuff had I known my bar buddies were 1%ers.

Going back to the 70s, a group of 1% hung out at a bar where my girl friend worked (now my wife). so of course I saw, and met a bunch of them. As I was known to the bar manager, I never had a problem with the guys (I am guessing that because I was a friend of Lil' Kenny I was accepted) We would just chill and drink beer with the guys if they came and sat at my table. I would join their table if invited. cool guys, but I did learn H&R, even though I wasn't on that page, not in that lane, or on that highway. Cheers from an old guy who is too crippled up to ride.

I was at a bar in Laredo TX called Rumors with a few co-workers. We were out on the patio when about 5 Bandidos walked out the door, needless to say feeling in the air did change slightly but everything was cool. After a few minutes I started up a very light conversation with one of them, before I knew it the other 4 were sort of gathered around us, that's when I looked down at his patches for the first time.... President. I could tell that they were just feeling me out so I just kept on with the conversation not mentioning the Club or anything aside from normal conversation. After about 20 minutes of chatting with them I let them know I enjoyed the conversation and excused myself to catch up with my crew. Fast forward about a week and me and a buddy walk into Red Lobster and grab a seat at the bar. Next thing I know I feel a little smack on my shoulder, turn to my right and wouldn't ya know, it was the President. He was just enjoying dinner with his wife in civilian clothes so I didn't even think twice when I sat down next to him, but he remembered me which, honestly, I thought was cool as shit. We bought rounds back and forth and just generally had a great time. Even though I understand their are bad apples in the mc culture that whole experience really shattered my perception of 1%ers. Thanks for the great content.

From my experience, I never had a "proper way" of greeting 1%ers, meaning that I always approach them in a respectful way, as I would approach every person in my life. Being part of a culture based on integrity and respect, bikers know when people around them are in good will from the get-go and in all honesty every 1%er that I know and have been in company with is a decent and cool person. Never had a problem around 1%ers in my life. Give respect and that is what you will get in return. After all, they are normal people that just do what they love, they won't hurt anyone for approaching and saying "hi" in a good manner. Having said the above, my advice to everyone concerned about it is: Be yourself and be respectful. Not just around bikers but around everyone. As always thank you for this video! A lot of the nervousness or fear that people have towards 1% clubs comes straight from the demonstrably false way they are portayed in media and by the government.
