It's scary but I'm doing a *lot* of research and trying my best to understand the trauma I've been through and what might have led me to where I am today. Your videos have been so informative, thank you for everything!

This video fills in a lot of gaps in reasoning and causality! All that I went through with my trauma was handled very poorly by a lot of people who did not have the whole story of what was happening to me. I got angry at them because a lot of money went out for help when I was desperate. But when my internal adult has the entire story taught by a person who understands from a top-down (super-smart 🎓, theoretical ) approach, I feel understood and understand I am not a freak that no one wants. This is one belief I am just now beginning to dispel! Another successful day of learning and experiencing under my belt. Thanks Doc Snipes.

I am definitely a 0 to 100 person. It's always been somthing I had to be careful to keep in check. Many things in my past fit your definition of trauma. I'm almost 39 and I feel like I'm just now getting to a place where I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. It's tough dealing with everything in silence.

I would like to add that Doc Snipes is excellent and expert resource. Last year I was critical on this channel due to CBT videos - where trauma is ignored and I wrote a comment to this channel about it. Well in a week or so Doc Snipes published video with extremely important information about CPTSD which is not available in other places - she said that while DSM and CBT does not recognize trauma concept - that on the other hand WHO's ICD-11 fully recognize CPTSD as the real concept. Well - this information is not available at "official" resources by trauma informed sites and videos - so this is proof that she is expert at her field. She is not only open enough to listen to objections, but also empathically and openly contributes with her knowledge and education without hidden agenda or hidden contract - and that is very rare in this society. She has my full support. 👍💘🎯 High chances are that people who genuinely seek psychological help and psychological guidance are covert victims of trauma abuse dynamics - and it is ironical that CBT instead of recognizing this basic fact goes into direction of self blame and self pathology. This is why it is important to become trauma aware - both for targets of abuse and as for therapists, too.

@@DocSnipes I'm back again because - there is new discovery in Social anxiety - which actually now I understand better thanks to this groundbreaking video by Doctor Snipes. This video allowed me to new perspectives in trauma and social anxiety. With this video - I realized that social anxiety is actually Rejection Sensitivity - and also there is connection with Rejection sensitivity with Autism and ADHD. Well - the new research which was covered by CBS News on March 31 2023 tells us that: "Smell of sweat may ease social anxiety for some people, researchers find" CBS Boston made short news about it. CBS News: "Smell of sweat may ease social anxiety for some people, researchers find. BOSTON - People with social anxiety may benefit from smelling other people's sweat. People with social anxiety or social phobia experience extreme fear in social situations and often benefit from mindfulness therapy." Now - the interesting part is - that after I watched this video - I started to learn more about autism and ADHS, so I followed twitter tweets about autism - and one of them said that autist like to sniff. Then I researched this and discovered that autist already use sniffing as a way to calm down and self regulate: "Sniffing around: People with autism engage almost half their brain (right) when they smell the air, suggesting they search for odors even when none exist. People with autism use different brain regions than typical people do to distinguish between the scents of familiar and unfamiliar individuals" (spectrumnews) "Do autistic kids sniff things? Children with ASD may be hypersensitive to smell. Some may experience it more intensely, while some may want to smell everything that interests them. Children may use smelling as a way of exploring their environment or as a way of becoming oriented and comfortable with a particular object." (playgroup NSW) So - this new research is confirming Doctor Snipes and information given in this breakthrough video. There is connection between Complex Trauma - social anxiety - and RSD - where Autists and ADHD feel RSD due to exposure to invalidation and relentless criticism and ableism. Narcissistic abuse is causing all the mental issues we struggle with and try to resolve! With ableism, exposure to criticism and naggings and relentless complaints about our errors which we try not to commit - sets us up to social anxiety and trauma and RSD. Narcissist Personality Disorder One of the few conditions where the patient is left alone and everyone else is treated. (PierceTheDarkness)

@@Portia620 What I love about information about trauma and abuse - after we become aware that panic that we feel is trauma and abuse - is the fact that information about narc abuse and cptsd become our lighthouse in dark. They tell us what is ahead and where we are. This way - I was able to detect codependency issues of my own - which I had no awareness about it- since it appeared as something normal to me. This way I cut out one toxic person from my life - something that I would not ever do without information about narcissism and trauma. I would simply unconsciously use rationalizations and intellectualization and my fear of loneliness as proof that I must be forever stuck around toxic person.

I’m terribly hypersensitive.. If my wife does anything that I think is not normal. Example, if we make love every night then one night she decides to not, I take it terribly. Did I do something wrong.. Is she up to no good. Etc etc. I have terrible abandonment issues.. I also have a terrible time with change. As long as everything goes the same everyday I’m ok. Any change can disrupt or ruin my entire day.. I unfortunately had not so good of an upbringing. Alcoholic father, terribly narcissistic mother. Moved from school to school, shelter to shelter. 0 stability unfortunately. Mother was diagnosed with HIV when I was 6, father died at 39. I say all of this just to say thank you for helping me to realize I’m not alone. Many people feel the way I feel..

Some of these things were normal feelings but I thought I was abnormal.. It helped me a lot to realize that, I’m not so different.. Lots of my feelings are very exaggerated.. Im on high alert at all times. I’m reading people, the situation. That’s been my personal protection device. Most of the time I’m not wrong.. I do wanna learn to just relax take whatever may come. I love how, any time you start talking about general examples of how a symptom might look or play out in a person's life, I think, 'well, that was abc.. but what about efg and xyz?' A couple of seconds later, you actually do talk about efg and xyz. It's so awesome to me, especially because most people/articles don't even mention all of the different manifestations of symptoms or the possible past situations that led to the development of such reactions. You have amazing insight in your videos, the way you speak is easy to follow, and you really hold my attention!

@@DocSnipes I am having problems with anger- I find it still a deeply shaming emotion- the emotional flooding/dysregulation seems to be intensifying as I come to accept and be more consciously aware of my trauma. Executive functioning has suffered from years of prolonged exposure to stress and retraumatization. Your videos help me to step outside of the behaviors that I am ashamed of, find deeply problematic and limiting and reorient myself towards a more compassionate and biological based understanding of WHY these behaviors developed, how they helped keep me safe and how they are not serving me as a take the steps to reparent myself. They give me the he language to hold myself in positive regard while I learn different approaches in the present. I think avoiding the immense grieving I need to do is also prolonging it- but again, you bring into the public discourse that some people have lives and occupy locations in society that don’t allow for the full expression of grief and the time that is needed to really lean in to this. I hope I answered your question- again, thank you for all you do.

Is it possible to suffer with some kind PTSD from an event or events that happened before the age of 2? As a baby I was pushed down the stairs by an older sibling, My mother's story of the event became a family joke. I still have the recurring nightmare of being thrown down the stairs by ghost. I have never been diagnosed as having ADHD but at the age of 4 was given the diagnosis of mild dyslexia/dyspraxia. Also, does having PTSD make you more likely to suffer badly from future/on going trauma?

Personally, I have memories from even before the age of two. And now that we know that even babies adopted directly after birth suffer separation trauma, I’d say it’s very natural that this would have been a traumatic event for you. I once read a book by a dr Alan Schore, if I remember correctly. One of the things he said is that the brains of people who have been traumatised early may become easier to traumatise than other people’s brains. That’s something that hit home for me, because I am very easily traumatised. So that may be the case for you, too. And if I might add - I have an older sibling who’s always taken a lot out on me. If this sibling pushed you downstairs, that speaks volumes and it’s almost inevitable that in the rest of your childhood/adult life, too, this sibling will have harmed you emotionally or otherwise. Probably due to their own trauma, but nonetheless, it doesn’t sound innocent or something to joke about. To me, anyway.

That's really sad that your family turned it into a joke. My parents made a traumatic experience I went through a source of hilarity as well. I only just started becoming disturbed about how much they laughed and joked about it. They tell me they were horrified about what I went through and were just trying to make themselves feel better about it by laughing it off. I kind of don't blame them because they were children of the WWII generation that didn't really fully understand PTSD was a thing and probably 50% of the population was suffering from it. 😦

Thank you for your channel. Could you kindly provide some scientific literature proving the connection between trauma and illness/autoimmune + cardiovascular diseases, please? In particular about the immun system supression? I am trying to prove the connection between trauma and a certain group of rare diseases, and could really need some scientific literatur/publications. The ACE study and the following studies are pretty well known. But I try to show not only a causality, but also the concrete impact on the body. I live in Europe, and it's quite hard to get up-to-date sources. CPTSD is rarely known here, even amongst experts, and trauma is still seen disconnected from the body. I would appreciate your support so much. Is there maybe even a possibility to get in touch with you? Thank you in advance for your answer.

It wasn't until I was open to receiving the Lord Jesus Christ that I started to heal. He literally turned all these symptoms for His good or just took them away. I'm not kidding or exaggerating. God will heal you if you believe without any doubt and are open to receive His son Jesus Christ. Doc Snipes literally described my traumatic symptoms I no longer suffer from now that I have the Lord! Thanks be to God. Also, thank you Doc Snipes for your teaching! I regret not having a therapist as yourself who is so smart and competent. heaviness alert. look at this big open wound. or is it a scar probly. I had a messed up childhood, being made to keep Saturday as the sabbath (not allowed to keep Christmas). I was beaten by my dad as a child, then he dies in a car accident at 15. My school treated me with no compassion, like a criminal and was offered no help. They actually failed in their duty of care responsibilities. Within the year dad's best friend dies and I take a home phone call from my brother's friend saying that his mother had just killed herself. Mother then remarries as I'm still grieving, barely turned 17. Long term girlfriend is wrongly ejected out of the country by the home office 10 years ago and I've not seen her since. hmm I wonder why I've struggled with undiagnosed cptsd or whatever. I wonder why I cycled 36,000 miles in the past 4 years etc. And why I'm 'weird'. At least I achieved anyway, despite the lack of help. Better late than never.
