Took the bike to work recently and noticed, for the first time in years, my Denali D2 auxilary driving lights were not working. Checked the B6 auxiliary tail light and SoundBomb horn and they too were dead. After almost 7 years of flawless operation, my Denali CANSmart controller appears to have simply died on me. My 2016 BMW R1200 RS was not being used much and was parked in my garage on a trickle charger all the while.

It's obvious a clear case of NBS (Neglected Bike Syndrome). Need to ride the RS more.

@@GrumpyGoat If I remember correctly my sound bomb was mounted incorrectly it's opening was upwards so water would fill it up the horn failed don't remember if it affected the can-smart

@@marklawless1726 The horn for mine is mounted face down inside the cowl and the bike has not seen rain in years. So it’s not that. But there’s more … 😏

I had a can smart fail on me after parking it for the winter here in Alberta. 2021 I believe it was. I had it less than a year on my 2018 RT. It was replaced by Twisted Throttle. Have not had any problems since. What I read online was that some of the can smarts had issues dealing with temp changes. Not sure if that’s true. My bike is stored in a heated garage.

They do fail. A friend of mine is on his 3rd Hex ex Can. Same as the Cansmart.
