It’s not about “looks” in terms of the face but the body shape. Ragan Smith most definitely has the body shape of feminine maturation, Deng Lin Lin doesn’t here. Not only so, but the Chinese gymnasts who came after 2008 Olympics all just happened to have the body shape of 16+ years old, and the team also couldn’t perform nearly as well. This suggests that there was also motive for the underage scandal. Females’ skills at gymnastics and alike sports peak at around 13-15 of age. Which is why often junior events they compete better than senior. Btw I want to congratulate them for winning gold on BB today. Now take a look at the gold medalist Guan Chen Chen’s body shape and compare that to Deng Lin Lin’s. You’ll see a pretty enormous difference. Guan is 16.

And yet much of the scoring here was biased in favor of the Chinese. Cheng Fei won a bronze on beam- with an abismal routine that should have ranked her ahead of only those who fell. In the team finals several of their scores were substantially too high. So your comments don’t hold much cogency.

Other countries don’t lie and bring athletes in that are underage and cheat other deserving athletes of their shot at standing on the podium. China- and Korea have done so and thus deserve the constant distrust.

China would not face the scrutiny it does- and continues to receive- had they not WILLINGLY cheated by falsifying ages of their athletes! You reap what you sow.

@@sgeetha7350 nope. Take a look at Chinese athletes after 2008 Olympics. Literally NONE of them has the body shape like Deng Linlin here. For example take a look at the 2020 gold medalist Guan Chen Chen. She was 16. Take a look at her body shape and compare that to Deng Linlin’s, you’ll see a significant difference. Yes Asians are smaller and slimmer, but a mature woman’s body shape can still be seen.
