Actually, from 21secs to under 21, it will take forever (figuratively), timings tends to get low exponentially, so it won't be a big difference like from 21 secs they will go to 19 or something, in 50m they can lower 21.9 to 21.5 or 21.45 types which in itself is a big big improvement, so timing in 50m from 1980s would have been in 21s only.

Anthony Ervin: Wins gold in 2000 at age 19. Retires in 2003 at age 22. Sells gold medal on eBay and joins a band. Starts training again in 2011. Wins gold AGAIN in 2016 at age 35. The oldest individual gold medallist in Olympic swimming history. What a story... GOAT?

One of the GOAT for sure, too hard to argue who's the best across generations with no proper variables to compare and why to compare in the first place, but no one will argue that he is one of the GOATs (I know sounds stupid to say one of the GOAT), I guess you get me.

@@sarthakbhalerao1045 Totally agree. You can only really say who was the best at that given time. But to win it twice 16 years apart is unbelievable, irrespective of times. PS. He was also the first US citizen of African descent to win an individual gold in the pool.
