Rodman is one reason why I loved nba in nineties ,if I had to build a team,i take him in power forward .He could have been 1996 mvp playoffs .Give me another name who can guard both Shaq,Barkley,Bird,Jordan or Magic ,for me he is the best defender in history . His way to stick you with his legs and follow you whatever your weight or your speed is just amazing ,a lesson for any players who want to improve his defense .Some think he was a clown ,but everything was strategy that he learned with The great Laimbeer and Mahorn , Just a Legend ,Congrats Sir for your amazing career .

Not only that, Rodman was so good at defense that he was willing to sacrifice himself and take whatever the offense could dish out, and that would often mean trouble for the offense. Rodman was unique of a player.

Gary Payton was a better defender than Rodman but Rodman brought so many intangibles to the table, including defense.

@@djeanpierre yep Brickowski was talking smack to Rodman and Rodman used it to get the referee's attention, and the Brick got ejected lol. Rodman made it clear to the head coach, George Carl, and Brickowski that they could not psyche him out and that he was the master of it. Those were great times of basketball.

Rodman was a super talent, first mental intimidator / predator-for-wins since bill russell. but i got so tired of watching all of the interruptions, even in the playoffs, for cleaning up messes that rodman did doing sly cheap shots or other antics. it was to the point where it really disrupted the flow of the game- i'm sure that was a desired consequence by the bulls when they allowed him to go feral.

Real predators contribute offensively. When the teams he was on weren't quite ready for prime time, Rodman quit on them.
@postaltraining
@postaltraining 3 жыл бұрын
@@spitshinetommy3721 rodman toward the end of his career with refusing to shoot was awful. but he was still the best rebounder and a lock down defender. he did score double digits earlier in his career. he wasn't born to be a volume nba scorer. neither was bill russell. he did average 18 and 19 but many seasons 13-14 and final one 9.9. not elite scoring but elite everything else. so there is a valid comparison to rodman in that respect. take a look at wes unseld. first couple of years he scored. then he quit doing it by and large and scored half what he did as a rookie and younger player the reason being was that he wasn't the best scorer on the team. not even 2nd best. he knew after thinking about his role and how the team could win that his best efforts were elite defense, elite rebounding, the best outlet passes i have ever seen. so there's two guys besides rodman who did dirty work and were mean as a snake and effective at their strengths. and smart enough to realize the team was better off without them trying to put up 15-18 a night because they had other better scorers. and don't think for a second that jordan and pippen didn't LOVE the fact that rodman only put in 5 pts a game. more for them. and they were definitely more skilled at scoring, more effective. right?!

I remember a game in the 90s where Rodman was getting in Zo's head. During a break in play, Rodman goes up to Zo and tries to pat him on his butt. Zo slaps his arm away, and Rodman tries again and again to pat him on the butt, with a giant smirk on his face, with Zo slapping his arm away each time. Do you remember what game that was? I'd love to see that clip and see if my memory is accurate.

Rodman could score whenever he wants but he is a smart player so he always goes for the rebound or the pass to the open guys, and it is not all about PPG or PCT. if you have highs in that but your team still loses in games and playoffs, you are nothing.
