@@Momentum_Racing Hamlin didn’t shove him? Hamlin was almost in the grass himself which was where Briscoe was at. You have to be a homer if you think Briscoe wasn’t forced into the grass. Whether you blame Hamlin or AJ pushing Hamlin.

The penalty was probably for probably the biggest corner cutting all season by anyone…including INDYCAR and F1, I thought it was hilarious and so video game like that he cut that corner and kept gassing up! 😂

My opinion: Denny should have left more space, but that doesn't give Briscoe the right to cut the course as much as he did. On a prior restart, Dibenedetto made a similar move with Larson outside of him, and Larson did everything he could to immediately get back on course. If Briscoe would have just went straight, there shouldn't have been a penalty, but since he turned left, causing him to get the lead, the penalty was basically required. The restart I see this incident similar to is the first Charlotte roval race when Keselowski overdrove the corner. Everyone just overdrove the corner on the final restart, causing cars to be pushed wide.

You could also argue Briscoe gave the spot up right away which takes away the advantage of cutting the course (cutting the course through grass is not smart as it could easily destroy these cars)

If Briscoe stayed on track, he would have caused a massive wreck. He would have been into the side of another car or he would have caused a large backup. He did the right thing. Also, he gained no advantage at all.

I would like to disagree about Briscoe cutting a huge turn. While yes you should do your best to get back on track, you need to do it as safe as possible. Larson's situation was different because he could rejoin the track easily without causing a wreck. In this situation, Briscoe doesn't immediately try to rejoin the track because if he did, he would have cause a huge wreck so that was the reason he had to go through the grass like that which in my opinion doesn't seem like he deserve a penalty. My guess is because Briscoe didn't give up much track position that he should but it's silly.

I didn't think it was intentional at first cause he said he didn't "know" about the penatly, But the audio clearly shows he knew and just wrecked him on purpose. In all honest, i don't think it was Dennys fault at all really, one little touch from the 16 is what made him run the 14 of course. I just wanna know do they punish Briscoe after this audio, like the punished matt kensth, or will they let it slide?

I think Nascar should have at the very least let it ride like F1 does. Chase was forced off and took a shortcut not by choice. He then gave up the lead and returned to racing having not done any better by leaving the track. He literally had nowhere to go... They should have just let them keep racing

Jeff Gordon made a good point and you can see it at that one angle. AJ got under Hamlin and made contact going into the turn. Go to 2:48 seconds and you can clearly see the hard shove the 16 gives the 11, as he's turning into the corner. That pushed Hamlin's car over and left Chase no room. At that speed going into turn one, Hamlin's car was certainly going to push. There was nothing the 11 could do about it. On a narrow track like that, Briscoe got shafted. As it turns out, both Hamlin and Briscoe got shafted. Obviously Briscoe and most at the time had no idea AJ got into Hamlin. It was certainly a racing deal, with the race on the line.

Well a common defense in road course racing is to push wide when passing someone you know it's called trying to take your line away, you see it in Indy, F1, IMSA, Le Mans, etc. Not saying it's fair but it happens. It also sounds like you tear equipment up Mr. Actual Racer.

Denny just needs to wreck him at Martinsville, and things will be even among them. This can’t even turn into a rivalry.Normally the only time Denny will be driving around this guy, is when Denny is lapping him.Stewart has garbage drivers, except for Harvick, look 👀 at the driver standing drop off, on that team, that’s garbage drivers not equipment.

It seems to me that Briscoe's penalty doesn't make much sense. He was forced off track into the grass. He had no control after that. If he tried to stay on, he would have created a massive wreck. He could have stopped on the grass and spun around 180 degrees and drove back on track in the same spot but he would have likely got stuck in the grass or came back on in front of another driver. He gained nothing from cutting other than a set of dirty tires. If anything, he had a chance at taking the lead in turn one. So for all we know he lost out instead of gainning an advantage when Hamlin carelessly pushed him wide.
