Emma is 100% right about how Anya "was handled" in the show. I remember being so mad, and still am 20 years later, about how she died alone in that school hallway like she was just some random side character. After the end credits started rolling I was in disbelief. I feel the same way about what the showrunners did to Cordelia.

As a brit and buffy fan, I'm still impressed by James Marsters British accent. It's weird hearing him as a American.

They could all act their original parts again, in the Buffy verse there’s a million different reasons they’re all older, a witches spell, a dream, another dimension, another world, you get the idea. Amber will do a great job 👍

You know what I really love about ‘Slayers: A Buffyverse Story’? The fact everyone in it aside from Laya Deleon Hayes are returning to their characters and roles because they really miss playing them. Like I’m maybe being a bit presumptuous with this because it’s a small company but I can’t imagine the pay is very good. But I don’t think it’s about pay for any of them. They’re doing this because they truly want to. They miss their characters enough to want to. Especially James Marsters. I swear that guy just does not quit with being involved in absolutely everything to do with the Buffyverse when it comes to the fandom and fan service. He is honestly there for everything. It’s a bit mad actually but I love him for it. As I said before. You won’t see the big names joining because they’re all about the money and that’s their right. There’s nothing wrong with that of course. But I do have a lot of love and respect for this rag tag lot that has been put together to do this project primarily because they want to. Because they’re passionate. INTERVIEWER: “Why and why now?” AMBER BENSON: “I think the world has gone kind of bananas recently and, (and I say recently - I mean the last 5 years) I think we need more stories of powerful women on both sides of the dark and the light. And I think it’s really important that we, that we sort of - we show women doing powerful things. Taking control of their own destinies and making the world a better place. And I think that sometimes you just need to leave your cruddy, like cruddy day and live in this world with us. And I think that’s the best you can do with entertainment. You can take people and give them a wonderful experience where they feel magic and power and they just want to live there with us.” I also love what Christopher Golden said about Druscilla’s goal in this story is that she just wants to make the world a better place from her perspective of it. You know - giving all vampires this paradise where they can all thrive in the sun together as a society. That’s kind of lovely in seeing it from her perspective. And yeah - it’s totally something both Spike and Dru would do. Not try to destroy the world but “save” it. It’s about trust and respect and the major companies want to squash that. No it’s not me being all “I hate capitalism” and blah blah blah. It’s not about that. It’s about the power behind it all. They want to take it away. And it’s individual projects like this - attached on to a well known and beloved franchise or not - that keep things in balance and do not let that power leave. This is a team of people basically saying “hey, we were not happy with what you did to us - did to our characters - and we’ve come together to COME BACK in every sense of the phrase. This is us taking our power back and putting it where it actually belongs!” Yes, it’s a slap in the face to Whedon. Absolutely. As it should be. Because he dealt a pretty hard hand with something that was very important and beloved. And that’s why this project will remain small even if it’s continued. Because there’s a huge risk in making it any bigger than what it is now. And I’m fine with it being small. You know - I’ll support it either way because just like the entire cast - I trust Benson too. You know, I’ve heard several interviews from her now - related to this and promoting some of her other works - and every time her message is the same. It’s power. It’s power that she wants and that she’s striving for and I’m all for it. I am absolutely in her corner with this. There’s comments of “women have power - the representation of that is in everything in art/entertainment”. Yeah, well, the thing is is it’s not true women empowerment. It’s only the illusion of it. And you know how I know? Because that “representation” is heavily steeped in gaining brownie points. It’s put there purposefully to make you feel like it is genuine. But it’s not. It’s absolutely not. I can tell the difference.

If I am the way I am today it's even because of this show, and I'm so grateful for this ❤️ For the show itself, I really wish some of the main characters were treated better. It's awful how some of them died just like that.

my favorite actors and characters of buffyverse, spike had one of the best character developments in tv history, and drusilla was gorgeous and creepy and when we found out her tragic backstory....I am still scared shitless of her but somehow can not hate her, she was special and angelus broke her on purpose because he was furious and jealous of her innocence and potential....have to do my backlog on canonical buffy comics yet....hope one day AI can do them properly as continuation tv show

I'm all about James but mostly about Spuffy, so I can't wrap my mind around Buffy not being there. That (and an annoying partner who's not aware of my obsession) doesn't allow me to get into this Audible. Amber has aged REALLY well. As in, not at all 😂

Unfortunately the audible series is a one off now. I was so gutted about that. I really enjoyed the series though and when I listened I purposely shut my eyes and I could imagine the scenes and the actors as they were.

My only issue here is Amber’s reported intent for this series. Those strong voices have been around for decades. I think she’s undercutting the Ripleys, Sarah Connors, Leias, Coffeys, etc. that came before the initial Buffy movie & series. I enjoy some of the newer movies featuring characters like Wonder Woman & Sergeant Rita Vrataski, but I still circle back to the female characters of 40-50 years ago.

Had no idea this was a thing, many fans won't, i'm sure a good chunk of us are tired of the talk, some are sick of the letdown when these rumoured remakes never come to be, and some of us are sick of thinking we might have our classic ruined with another heartless remake to hit the screens. All i know is i'm giving this one shot, if buffy is a lesbian or anything else that is so far removed from what we saw over 7 goddamn seasons, if Angel and Willow are going to Qortoth and opening portals to the world without shrimp or anything else that feels as cringe and forced. i'm so out lol. no THANK you. turns out it's already been canned, that's funny.

As the world's biggest buffy fan, I'm so unsure about this... has a woke vibe just listening to this! I guess listening to it is the only way to find out and if I'm right I'll have to wipe it from my memory.

I have to say, I don't really vibe with that take on Dru, she should not have the mental coherence to have such 'societal goals' really. She honestly seems unaware of anything beyond her direct surroundings and what her powers tell her in both Buffy and Angel.

I didn't like the audio drama. Sooo much cringe and expository dialogue, not to mention the fights not working for audio. It needed a narrator.

Wow like the moment Amber starts talking.. Don't take me saying this as me saying we've done enough, i'm not saying that one day there will be enough media based on females that are strong, foreigners that overcome, that are both main characters, and then we can stop and just get back to male superheroes and crap, i'm not at all. It just comes across as hella inward when someone is talking about pushing women empowered stories into the world like its 2009 or something when half the globe seems to be at war atm, and 6 months ago, white males get slapped for having privilege all the time, when will actors living in a bubble get the same reality thrown at them.. like we've got the memo and we're making steps in the right direction, stop acting like its the most important thing going on, jeez. If they're going to do to Buffy, what they've done with the Ark Animated Series, that's crap, sell it to disney, they love pushing ideals in a less than forthcoming manner people say.

Great to see more stories. I really liked Buffy back jn the day. Especially seasons 1 to 3. Saying that i was bored as soon as i heard powerful women. Make it a good story not a f×cking vanity project for your political b×llsh×t.

We need more powerful female characters 🙄 yeah those aren’t in every single movie for the last 10 years. Buffy had a powerful female character before it was cool and no one had to force it. They just did a good job without trying to hard.

Amber clearly hasn’t watched much TV or film in the last 5 years. All we’ve had are powerful women and TV and film has never been better as a result.

And damn. You would think some would be a little more greatful to the original show that made them. Guess afew of them have lived in wokey hollywood for too long. It's why I love characters, not necessarily the actresses !

I like to tell James Masters they could always bring back Spike sure he's older now but there are ways of making him look younger I mean there's CGI there's makeup effects they use makeup effects all the time to make him up to be a vampire I mean anything could be possible in a story that's what my mom always said in Hollywood in movies anything is possible
