He was just trying to get to work when officers pegged him -- the only black man on the light rail train -- as the suspect who unlawfully fired a gun in a church kitchen.

Good on him. Once they saw his ID, he should have been released immediately. I stead the cops thought he was an easy mark, they weren't gonna let this black man get away with being innocent. Hope he wins a fat stack.

@Michelle Goodrow ....I'm not going to disagree. However we know that the Archie Bunker/Trumpster mentality is concentrated in the white cop demographic and we know it influences their interactions and who they target. According to DOJ stats blacks are 3.5 times more likely to be stopped and searched while whites are 4 times more likely to be actually carrying contraband. Then right-wing media uses these skewed arrest stats to justify police abuse of minorities.

Donald Trump has nothing to do with this. People have been abused by the police before Trump ever thought about being in politics. I've seen this type of stuff from the police for over 50 years. I'm tired of this being blamed on Trump. I clearly remember the days when the police would just shoot you in the back just for running,and if you lived in Detroit we had the Big 4 you didn't want to cross those guys or your could find yourself beat up and under arrest.
@MrZlathan3
@MrZlathan3 4 жыл бұрын
@@jamesharrison1143 .....Yeah and Donald Trump appeals to that demographic who feel that police abuses are either non-existent or justified: that white police are above the law just like Donald Trump himself. You saw him stand before an audience of grinning applauding police officials telling them to bang "suspects" heads on the car and rough em up. Those days you referred to where the police could afford to be sloppy because they got away with everything is the nostalgia Trump is invoking with MAGA.

Policing in America has changed from finding out you're not the suspect and letting you go to going ahead and investigating you further because they believe pretty much anybody can be arrested at any time for any reason. The other reason that stuff like this goes on is because it happens repeatedly and it goes by unchecked and unchallenged.
