Sean Payton and George Paton cleaned up the draft scoring "A" grades by many impartial media outlets. While Bo Nix was the 6th best quarterback on many people's board, he was the Denver Broncos quarterback all along. The team continued to pick up talent that no one had falling as far as they did like a starting cornerback in Kris Abrams-Draine, and a starting running back in Audric Estimé from Notre Dame and a starting edge rusher in Jonah Elliss. In this video we break down how all of this shows the Denver Broncos are not punting on the season but instead are pushing their chips in to compete this year. Thanks so much for all of the positive energy you bring to this channel, I can't wait to dive into all the comments and hear what you all think! What is your favorite pick in this year's draft?

Terrell Davis was a 6th round pick, and he worked out pretty well. Paton may not be stellar at free agency but when it comes to drafting, he is the best. I think PPP aced this draft. As an ex-7th grade math teacher, I give them an A. It would be an A+ but (I was hoping for Nix at 12) Nix truly is an unknown as an NFL QB. Then again, so is every QB coming out of college. I loved this draft. Nix should grab the number 12. He was the 12th overall pick and the GOAT wore 12 also.

"Future Derrick Henry"...lol...I'll say this for you Ben, you at least make me smile instead of what the haters & cynics are constantly doing to tear us all down at every opportunity. Even if you're 99% hyperbole in orange glasses, it's fun to stretch credulity now & then. I remember years ago before most of these current fans were around that we all did that every year. It's how we stayed Bronco fans. Then we started winning, & for some reason nothing was ever the same after that. Fans got used to it, then they took it for granted, then they assumed they had a right to it, & finally they looked to blame somebody when it ended. The journey back to that should be more hopeful, less intolerant & make us more appreciative. We should learn lessons from it.

Estime is a workhorse and a force to be reckoned with. He is going to run down defenders and even carry some of them on his back that’s a guarantee. He will even leap over some of them as shown on some of his highlights, he may be huge but he is athletic and moves as if he was a lighter back. The Broncos got him at a steal discounted price. Can’t wait to see him win the Angry Run Trophy from the Good morning Football show. lol 💪

I agree w/ B- grade. Denver was forced to take Nix early because of Penix going 8. Eliss' drawback is he has one move, spin. He will have to learn pass rushing moves and learn to set the edge. Draine (pronounced draney) is a very good player who needs to bulk up. He will get boxed out by big physical receivers and lost in the trash on run plays. Estime is short yardage, goal line and is a beast but needs pass-pro work to be a steady back. Vale has Tim Patrick's spot all over it, slower plodder. The Broncs signed a "camp" TE UDFA but will be watching other rosters for a TE, safety and punter. Thanks, appreciated.

A few stated SP picked too high because he was rated 2nd round. Apparently, these sport "analysts" didn't watch the draft. 2nd round rated or not (questionable...), Bo wouldn't have lasted past pick 15.

Where did you get a 4.56 at the pro day for Esteme? He ran a 4.61, which you're right, is still faster than Terrell Davis ran. The history of RBs with the kind of injury Davante Williams had who come back from that shows them making a full return to former form in their 2nd season back, not the first. I think Payton will rotate these two guys & keep them fresh. That's going to wear defenses down in the 4th quarter.
@SportsTalkDenver
@SportsTalkDenver Ай бұрын
Audric said when he was training and practicing the 40 he was running like a 4.56...he could be exaggerating or maybe he had a trainer who he paid to get him in the 4.5's who wanted to get his money 😆 I totally agree on your Terrell Davis point!

@user-zr4km5ns8t Ай бұрын
@@SportsTalkDenver OK...he was probably running for a guy holding a stopwatch, but he ran a 4.61 at his pro day. so go with that. It really doesn't matter much. On tape you can see him outrunning defensive backs in the open field who ran a 4.45. It's how you run in pads & cleats that matters, not what you run on a track wearing spikes and your underwear. Besides...the guy he's competing with ran a 4.55 at the combine, but that was before a horrendous knee injury. He's going to likely alternate with Javonte & the two of them together will wear out defenses on the ground with a 1-2 power punch that will be as physical as any duo in the league.

At best, they'll be a little better. Get a grip, everyone. I have not missed a Bronco game in 54 years, not one. I was at John Elways very first practice in Greeley, and met him shortly after. It is a rebuild. It’s laughable to think that’s it’s not. Again, no one knows how well these guys do in Denver. This is the problem with the offseason, pure speculation. There’s a lot of potential, but Osweiler had potential, Lynch had potential, etc. I have been a fan of the Broncos for over thirty years, and have learned you have to at least wait until preseason to see what these guys can do in their new systems.

Player ratings when comparing vs others of like caliber is never accurate when it's a team sport!! Nix isn't picked to face off head to head vs other QBs picked before him! In fact I football, no player can ever be compared to other players of like position, they will never face off against those players of similar positions. Two running backs, full back or half, will never face each other and effect how they play in comparison, so comparing players against others has always baffled me! Rnd 1 Pick 1, Bears chose QB Caleb Williams, probably cause most determine he's the #1 QB of the draft! Is he? Idk! He may or may not be, but it's not a fair shakedown, considering they compare him to other QBs in the draft, when he'll never face off against those other QBs! The question should have been, should always be... Is that player the best for what we need, as a team? The Broncos understand that! Always have, IMO! It's like playing school yard ball at 10 years old with a group of 20 or so kids, picking 2 Captain, who take turns choosing the best player available for their side , that's what the draft should be like. The Broncos get that! Nix seems to be a perfect fit in so many ways! Most importantly, we grabbed, and not just any WR, not just another wr he's familiar with, but we grabbed his number 1 WR from the ducks! His #1 target for the last two years!! Perfect FIT! Looking at Edime, he may not be the fastest, but if he's anything like TD??, he will grind the most yards while carrying DEFENSES than any other RB on that draft! PERFECT FIT! And as far as Nix and Franklin chemistry, they were more than just a continuation on the field, as apparently... Nix family knew Franklin personally if I read correctly... They were best friends off the field, almost like adapted brothers! I'm excited!! LETS GO BRONCOS!! LETS NIX EM!! 😁

@@SportsTalkDenver Let's Nix Em almost rolls smoother off the tongue, then saying them! idk why. I think shortening the sylable lets it flow smoother! Lets Nix Em... sounds better than... Lets Nix Them!? All I'm saying!! 😁 I want Empower Field at Mile High rocking BO NIX on Game 1 next season! BOLD PREDICTION!! We have all the right talent now. We not only already have a Leader in Nix, but a Leader who can study and probably know Payton's entire play book by the back of his hand on game 1, but who also knows and trusts his potential new Center (his old CENTER, Forsythe was A Duck a year ago? AND THINK Sean drafted him aswell 😉😲), but now he also his his bestfriend and #1 target with him on OFFENSE? With a TANK who will move mountains? backed by ANOTHER TANK who probably will stop trains? LEAD by a mastermind Coach? Funded by an almost unlimited supply of an OWNER (Walter Payton put up a BILLION+ dollar megatron last year...) I say we get to the Playoffs with a 12-3 Record, Undefeated against the AFC W, and make it to the Superbowl next year, to take on.... Either the 49ers, or the Cardinals (they had a decent draft as well!?). ALL THEY NEED?? A crowd of fans willing to back them the whole nine yards... who believe in them so deeply... that STADIUM will be most dreaded stadium for any AWAY team visiting.... BRING IT!! LETS NIX EM!!!! GO BRONCOS!!!

This nonsense about Nix being a reach needs to stop. Everybody had him going to Denver. They only call it a reach because we picked him at 12 instead of late first or in lower rounds. The way the draft unfolded, he would have been gone as early as 13 to LV and we'd have been criticized for dropping back. People criticized the Lions for taking Jahmyr Gibbs at 12 last year. Nobody is laughing now. Estimé was compared to Jerome Bettis (Hall of Famer). We may have six or seven starters if we include the undrafted TE from Utah Thomas Yassmin. He is 6'4" 245 lbs with excellent speed. Other guys to watch are Omar Brown (S, NE) and Blake Watson (RB, Memphis). Both UDFAs. Time will tell on all these guys but I give us an A for this draft class.

I think it was a great pick. At the end of the day, these analyst's are making educated guesses on a players performance. And if history tells us anything, they are generally pretty bad at those predictions. I'll take Sean Paytons opinion, the drew brees guy and almost the mahomes guy, over any of these so called " professionals." Dropping back, for example, is only something analyst's talk about, as you can hear from the coaches, they'd rather just secure their guy a bit earlier and lose maybe 3-6 spots. I'm excited for the edge rusher, he's phenomenal and the way they've wrote off his size reminds me of Big brother Kelce. I think he will come in with a chip on his shoulder and play hard.

Payton has been unfairly demonized for the Wilson trade. Almost every single Bronco fan was fully on board with that move. Yet almost none will now admit it. Virtually every GM would have also made it, because what nobody at the time could conceive of was how badly Nathaniel Hackett would butcher the season & leave this team totally unprepared. There is nothing wrong with making a trade for a 9 time pro bowl QB who is only 33 years old. The Rams did it, & if you've noticed, they got the short end of the stick too. Yet almost nobody is ever talking about that. Nor do they ever talk about the fact that this fan base almost universally wanted Justin Fields when Paton passed on him in favor of Pat Surtain II. He has always been a good talent evaluator, & even when Hackett was here he made some good personnel moves picking up players off other rosters to help us.

I think he is faster than 4.7 because that is pretty slow. But you do not have to be the fastest guy to be a good running back. Especially when you are a power back like Payton hills, Bandon Jacob's, and many others.

I'm a new follower, that said please hear me out. You guys had the best draft I've seen in 20 years. You have the pieces to make the playoffs. I followed my young QB in New York. He didn't have a good coordinator and his offensive line looked like rejects and old men. Watch Arron Rodgers won't last. Remember Zach beat Josh Allen and the bills. Zach played KCs defense to a tie till a field goal as time Exspired. And he beat the eagles. He got sacked a league record. That right there shows how tough he is. And how bad the line sucked. I've hated Denver my whole life. Clear back to Rick Upchurch running footballs for touchdowns. Now I have to like you guys. And rumors galore coach Payton wants his swiss army knife. Two BYU QBs on same team. You guys are looking at a strong run. And you could do it. I think Miami bills and KC. But your there. Good luck Denver and be nice Zach is going to surprise you big time ❤❤❤❤

I think Bo Nix isn't NFL ready, and I think they plan to sit Nix this season. I think the trade for Wilson supports this theory. This gives Nix time to adjust and learn the system... and if he doesn't work, a Wilson led Broncos will stink and we’ll have another shot at QB next year.

I just don't see how we got any worse than last year! Only position we took a step back in was center...we made BIG leaps forward and are getting Javonte back, Tim Patrick back, Dulcich back, we'll be in year 2 of installing SP's offense and now will have a QB who can run it! We sweep the Chargers, split with KC, at least split with Raiders and we are at 4 wins...we get Panthers at home an Steelers at home. That's an easy 6 right there.
