Thank you for the great info! I got my instrument and commercial Multi ten years ago and finally going for my CFI this winter. I am going to sit the instrument ground school again, but your videos have been great for revisiting some of the concepts.

INT are nice, but in VFR a VOR-to-VOR flight plan works too. Mine would be KTOI.MVC.NUN.KPNS That is if they let you fly through MOAs - otherwise slip in BFM. Isn't RUTEL the cross of MGM and EUF? Can you get signal from both at RUTEL? I'd find the INT that way.

VFR you could do just like you have said. IFR you would have to observe the service volume limits of the VORs which put you just out of range of MVC, especially on the ground at TOI. As for RUTEL, I'm sure there are radials from MGM and EUF that define it, however I haven't seen them published which doesn't make it "official". Thanks for the reply!

Can you explain how best to use the LOM and approach segment safely while flying against possible traffic using the approach.
@Klaviation

If you can talk to center or approach on the ground have them give you any alerts for traffic. The IFR controlling agency should not release you for departure if there is a conflict with an inbound aircraft. Broadcast your intentions on CTAF in case any VFR traffic is operating in the area.

Can I use the minimuns for landing in this situation? When I don't have minimuns for takeoff or i have another procedure? Thanks

What are you asking? For takeoff you mean? Part 91 does not have any 'minimum' requirement to takeoff.

Question: how do we see or get to RUTEL if we fly aircraft that is not equipped with GPS as RUTEL is gps fix. Or am I missing something? Thank you!
@Klaviation

You can get to RUTEL a few ways. The first would be to use GPS and navigate direct. The second is to look at the NDB 7 approach plate I show in the video. You can follow the approach backwards to RUTEL using the Blood NDB, which is perfectly legal. Thanks for the question!

Will Liebhaber Hi Will, Thank you for reply. But I'm still a bit confused. The reason why is that you mentioned at 05:27 that we're assumed to fly non-gps equipped aircraft. How would we know when we get to RUTEL (as I mentioned above that RUTEL is GPS fix) even if we fly outbound NDB 7? Thank you for your time!

***** RUTEL isn't a GPS fix, it's a traditional fix along V70-454. If you look at an IFR low enroute chart, you can identify RUTEL using the Montgomery (MGM) and Monroeville (MVC) VORs, or using a single VOR and DME. Following the specified bearing outbound from Blood NDB, you would know you are at RUTEL when you intercept the MVC 069 radial. You can confirm your location using the MGM 181 radial.
