I think this could be good for the users that use the drug responsibly, like you said it's not making it legal but it's reclassification would allow the users who actually use it on there off time to get the medicinal benefits without penalty. But I could also see operators getting dui's for being careless and improperly using. I can see alot of companies not being able to test for the usage but still making a policy in not having on person or using in general based off of company views. Plus not every state is on board for the legalization of marijuana so thats another hoop to jump thru!

Some of the harder drugs don't stay in your system long. Like Heroin. Heroin stays in your system for 3 days. Unless it has fentynol. THC stays in your system for months.

Alcohol and cigarettes kill millions every year, but no stoners! Raging alcoholics ripping up streets and stoners cruising 35 in the slow lane laughing. It's only illegal when the gov't can't tax something to make money off of it. Double standards are what is killing the truckers and this will help them chill on Off Duty Time. People collect from the gov't and are never tested for drugs, but the provider of those funds are tested way too much! MJ should be legal across the board for all.

If I smoke a joint during my time off, I am not under the influence of the drug days later just because there are traces of thc stored in my fat cells. It is discriminatory that a driver can drink and even use crystal meth and test clean a few days later but I can't have a smoke. No one should drive under the influence of anything, and no one should control my time off either. I hope this passes cause I'm gonna burn me a cigar sized spliff and still outperform the alcoholics and tweakers that have slid under the radar for years. I've been a user of MJ for over 20+ years, and whenever I decide to stop I can without any withdrawal symptoms. But I can't go 2hrs without a cigarette and can't quit to save my life literally. I'd say cigarette/Tobacco is far more dangerous and addictive than any drug that exist.

@@mikewilliams3016 i quit smoking weed cold turkey after 10 years of regular toking so I could get my CDL. no withdrawals whatsoever, in fact i actually felt better a couple days later (i was a heavy user and felt like a fog was lifted when I quit). not knocking weed AT ALL! just agreeing with you on the no withdrawals. I also have several alcoholic friends who i think are too deep in the booze at this point to quit drinking without having dangerous withdrawals that could kill them!

It’s a good move in the right direction. The police can give sobriety tests that work with MJ intoxication. I’m a retired PO. I have hundreds of MJ arrests over my career. I believe in my case, my arrests were far more harmful to their lives than the drug could ever inflict barring killing someone in a MVA.

I have been in a truck my entire adult life and as a teen. I was driving long befor mandatory testing and the CDL. I smoked plenty of MJ on the road in my day. Never had a misshap till I was completely clean at 23 no drink no smoke no pills. I am still clean now at 60 but might have a Joint after I retire. or maybe not but would like to be free to do so if i choose

I just hate the fact that for me personally it takes months for my pee to be clean. It’s ridiculous for mj to last in your system for literally months. I’ve stopped using mj on February 23rd and today is May 16th and I still pee dirty. I’ve been ready to drive and can’t because I still pee dirty 3 months after I stopped. It's about freaken time. Yesterday on route 17 in NJ I passed a sign that said "Drive through dispensary". Most states I drive through have signs on the highway advertising dispensaries. For it to be in Schedule 1 is a complete joke and this is why the DOJ gets $h1tted on.

@@Ctnymayo bro I been trucking for 15 years and never used drugs just recently I got a new job opportunity and had quit my former employer but they wanted me to take a random drug tested even though I had quit before they even notify me so I called HR and told her if I needed to take is since I quit before they told me about it and that I was willing to go take it but she said no that she will take care of it with there DOT compliance well the next day I get a text from my new employer saying that I had a violation on my clearinghouse for a random drug test refusal from my former employer and now they can’t hire me… I even went and took a drug test at a license Clinic the same day of my violation to proof my innocence to my former employer and they still don’t want to take it off my clearinghouse

Kind of makes one wonder how we ever functioned (just fine thank-you) in trucking before we were all saved by thousands of intrusive government laws, policies, mandates inspectors and regulators. Thanks Uncle Sam! P.S. hope you have a CDL to start work when all tired disgusted truckers find something else to do... And you'll want to be very careful cause you also made a million rules and you can't violate even one or you'll lose your livelihood..

I’m almost 50 and been trucking 25 years. Never smoked anything other than Newports but quit those about 10 years ago. Never been high in my life. But with my torn up shoulders and joint pain??? If I could I definitely would try some on my days off. That being said 😂😂😂 JB still isn’t getting my damn vote.

I say trucking has 2 options. 1. Increase the pay to justify the increased stress we're forced to put up with. (Increase wreckless driving, increased regulation, increased invasion of privacy etc.) 2. Accept better pay is not coming and just deregulate everything to allow other methods of coping so the man properly reflects the market value. Which is overworked underpaid woth blood shot eyes and yes high...

I think it should not be an issue, I no longer smoke but I took a year off trucking and I smoked everyday for that year. When I decided to go back to trucking it took me 45 days to clear my urine test. It's been seven months and I still can't pass a hair follicle test. I shaved all my hair at month 5,&1/2 and finally passed at month 7. I tested at a concentra got green light. Arrive at carrier to do the on site test and fail that one after being seated. These test is not accurate and the only contact I had with THC was second hand when I walked into a Greyhound bus station and the lobby reeked of THC the contact was brief because I proceeded to cover my nose with my shirt. Bottom line is I quit because I have that discipline and my money comes first. These hair follicle are not accurate and I don't understand passing a hair follicle 2 weeks prior then going to test at carrier and pass a urine but fail the follicle. I now have to work at carrier with urine only because I don't want to waste my time going to a carrier and getting rejected, losing two weeks of income for a test that is not dot approved or accurate when it comes to THC

THC will stay in your system for 2-4 weeks. The testing methods need to be reformed. I know they have breath straps that test up to 48 hrs of the usage. I think that should be the standard test method for THC. We all know nobody is stoned after 48hrs even after smoking a full pack of joints. Let alone 2wks.

The testing analysis methods needs to be adjusted. If you can test alcohol to determine what percentage is in the blood the same methods should be applied to the use of cannabis to determine if a person is actually high or if they just have a dormant amount in their system.

In Canada truckers truckers can mj just like alcohol get swab test and which tells if u r stoned withing certain hours vs weeks this move means nothing for truckers. Its just so the businesses dispensary's can use banks less restrictions .

We should be able to do what we want our ten hour re-set or on our 2 days off I prefer to smoke not much of a drinker I did fail a random drug test with my previous employer which sucked because I had to do the SAP program and also hurt me financially and the hard part is finding a company that would hire you with the violation on the clearing house I was lucky to find a small company that hired me with the clearinghouse violation but like I said financially it sucks plus I got to do a follow-up for a whole year to clear my violation Even though I was a few months clean when I failed my random drug test My THC levels were still high in my system That's what caused me to fail the test.

Time to end testing except for pre employment and injury accedents when drugs/alcohol are suspected just like everyone else . The tests must reflect recent use at a realistic quantifying level .

I live in a depression den for 90% of my life. Id love to be able to enjoy a smoke before bed. Actually scratch that i gotta be honest. Id enjoy smokin and cruisin. They gotta find a better way to make sure people arnt high while driving

There really needs to be a way to test for it at the scene of an accident where the results reflect whether the driver is under the influence at the time of the accident. If your reaction time is too slow and that kills someone, you need to be held accountable. If you’re sober behind the wheel, you’re good.

💯 nobody is emotionally upset on the subject of how dangerous it is with the drivers not keeping up on health and fitness I’ve been hearing more stories about drivers having a heart attacks and strokes in their sleeper sitting in a door waiting to get loaded and unloaded

I’m a retired trucker, I began my driving career in 1976, I could on my time off get high as a Georgia pine and then sleep like a baby, wake up with no hangover or cobwebs. Try that with alcohol. I had to quit when the fed in the early 90’s , I think it was 94 , said I had to pass a piss test to keep my job, so I complied. I retired accident free in 2019 . I have health issues and my dr told me try instead of pain meds. Medical cannabis is legal in my state. It a big help with my pain and anxiety. I say that to say this. A driver that is off duty should be able to get high take his 10 hrs off. And you can perform the job safely without a hang over. My experience is exactly that. Keep your left door shut and your wheels rolling. ✌️

I think the same rule should be adopted for weed as alcohol. I don’t think the effects of weed are as bad as alcohol. I say legalizing weed is a good idea and should’ve been done years ago. As long as a driver isn’t using it while on duty, I don’t see a problem.

Drivers at my old job would drink purposely to have a reason to start work later. Would tell dispatch it’s hasn’t been 12 hours, shit crazy.

It's a drug. Regardless of what and how people "feel" about it there's no reason to consider drugs as a part of your professional life. There's no such thing as a part time heroin addict, same as being a pot head or a drunk or anything like that. Alcohol is trash. Weed is trash. Cigarettes are trash. You can't be totally effective and a zero chance liability if you're high on anything. People nowadays need need need need to have excuses to be numb, to relax, to cope. There's no coping other than facing it...pain, misery, existence is pain and theres no running from it. Im a Truck Driver and i don't use any recreational drugs or use drugs that are recreational but people tell us over and over are medicinal.... they're not. Look at Portland. That's the entire world should all drugs be taken and then we end up with the culture we have now..... just dogs fkn in the street and growling at anyone who judges. Drugs are lame. Thats all. Facts.
