I have just experienced a problem with my wife's Range Rover Sport, whereby the tow hook was not deploying. I only had one indicator showing on the right-hand side, so by continuously holding the button down, the towbar finally popped out and I heard the double beep! By the way, my electrics were also pretty gummed up but with a fairly tough pull down, they made themselves known to daylight and all is good. Thank you for your very polite, concise, and helpful video. A real lifesaver - especially in this time of lockdown and with no dealer to turn to. Brilliant!

So glad you posted this video, my RRS is one year newer with the same deployable tow bar, but could not find the electrical connector and l could not find any reference to it in the manual!! So well done, l can now fit a camping trailer.

Great you are doing all these videos, when it the one about repairing the side body work properly, your initial walkaround video showed the kinks and dents. Given the dodgy bumper repair and creased headlining I sense trouble at mill??

My towbar doesn’t stow away fully then comes straight back out and I have to master reset to get it out ??

Very helpful, the owner's manual says nothing about the electric socket and googling it just finds ads for wiring sets for older range rovers.

My MY16 L494 has a circular spring on the electric socket so it comes down automatically when the towbar deploys. Looks like yours might just be bunged up with dirt.

When installing plastic parts, sometimes a solid hand smack is better than pushes, you've gotta get the head of that clip to set! And a side note, the "flat head" clips are made to push strait in the locked position.

Not a chance you have to manually pull down the electric socket. On my Discovery Sport it is pulled down along with the tow-bar.

Do you all plan on selling a hidden/stealth hitch kit for a L494? I would love to find a kit that you can't see when not in use. All the ones I've found are ugly looking and take away from the bumper look.

Hi I’ve got a Range Rover Vogue 2013 with a electric deployable towbar. And he’s got issues, I managed to replace the motor as it had a seized. But all the time the red and green light flashes and the buzzer is constantly buzzing. I’ve done the reset, run the engine for over two seconds turning it off, then ign on and off. This will allow me to press the on off button and then keep the deploy button pressed and the towbar will deploy. Although all the time the buzzer sound is constantly on, and there is no two beeps to confirm is deployed correctly and the ECU reset. Then you have to go through the full reset again to stow the towbar, again all the time the two LEDs are flashing and the buzzer constantly going. Have you any ideas what this could be, I don’t think it’s a towbar issue maybe possibly the towbar ECU.

electrics should come down automatically but once you dip it into salty water you need to grease it.

Why was the tow bar hidden away?

So somebody fitted a diffuser which doesn’t allow the tow bar to come down 🤨

Why would anyone in their right mind think that a heavy duty 4x4 would need something like this! What a waste of time!!!
