Zuerst einmal super informatives Video aber ein Fehler ist mir dann doch noch aufgefallen. Es heisst nicht AM sondern OM bei der Motorenbezeichnung von Mercedes-Benz.

By the way, we heard from many Challenger drivers in Germany that are absolutely unsatisfied with their CAT engines: piston jamming, turbo charger damages and block breaks. So, it's not as strong as many believe. Mercedes built engines in South Africa for a long time, they were called ADE (Atlantic Diesel Engines). They were used in ACO 4WD tractors up to 600 kW, and were very reliable. All of the appr. build 450 ACO tractors are still in use, with party more than 40.000 hours.

Claas replaces the Xerion 3300 with the Axion 900 tractors, allthough these ones are standard tractors and not tracs. Claas sold much more 3800 than 3300, for many farmer's and contractors the 3300 was too heavy for its power so the fuel consumption was higher than an big standard tractors from Fendt, John Deere, Case IH, a.s.o. Mercedes is a good alternative for Caterpillar. The new engines have much more torque and a lower fuel consumption.

Well, in the beginning of the 4WD tractor ära many small manufacturers used truck engines for tractor - and they ran quite well ;o). Of course today is different, but a truck engine can still run well in a tractor or other self propelled farm machines. I guess there were two reasons for Claas so stop using CAT 1. CAT is a difficult and slow partner for strategic developments. 2. Claas wanted an SCR engine.

Compare a John Deere 9300 12.5L articulated with John Deere 8360R 9L. The 9300 pull more, and is more powerful than 8360r. I think the new manufacturers strategy, is built low cost products, with light engines, plastics and components, but much worse than 70s 80s 90s tractors, like a JD7000 8000 9000,Case Cummins, Fendt Man. Big blocks engines, heavy components... Today manufacturers excuse is consuption, a big block engines comsuption is lower, and a powerfull engine consumes, Cat is one

Daimler is a truck light engine,good for road. Caterpillar is a pure high quality industrial heavy service engine, designed for extreme contionious torque demand. The Caterpillar weights more, is stronger. I think,the diferent wheel size tractor in up 300hp range is not inteligent, because 300hp tractor need,more contact and weight, and Xerion 3300 is better than Axion. Another problem is the Axion not have a reversible cab, 4 wheel steering,and Xerion advantages for special aplications.

Yes, and Cat has engines in mining trucks,dozers,ships,tugs,gensets,pumps working 24h per day, with 16000kw MAk´s 35-36 series EMD or MWM,s. The Daimler om engine of Xerion , i think it is a modified Detroit built in Mannheim, no in Africa, The scr fluid is expensive alternative,marine and hevy diesels use water filters, cheaper alternatives. Caterpillar offers better service. I think, the reason for this change, is because de Mercedes is cheaper, the scr,and i agree the partner strategic,
