Du Plessis always looks like an amateur from his movement and gassing after 2 min into the fight. But somehow he outlasts and drops his opponents all the time, it crazy.

When watching from this angle, you can clearly see how fatigue kicks in especially towards the end of round 2 and the speed difference between the beginning of round 1 and end of round 2

Yeah, for both.When watching it back Dricus looked even worse in the first round than i remember, getting knocked to the ground by strikes in the first.Brunson outsruck him for a little bit.

Du plessis feet seem so off to me, I think it's a combination of being flat footed and also duck footed it just looks very uncoordinated to me but he's obviously very athletic

Enjoyed DDP's damage ability (leg kicks hurt, ground n pound in first hurt, clinch elbows hurt) and seeing him learn a few tricks from Brunson in regards to wrestling.

Herb stopped the fight... Throwing in towel was a coincidence and is a myth from boxing... Only Ref or fighter can stop fight... Coach can only stop fight between rounds.

It might be because of his cardio, but he’s just so sloppy. He doesn’t maintain his dominant positioning well on the ground or on the feet. When he hurts his opponent he just leans his chin forward and spams straight punches.

Du Plessis isn't the best No1 ranked fighter compared to previous guys, but he's tough and is powerful enough to knock Izzy out, IF he can land anything. 😅

The will to win. That's what won this one. Brunson wrestled,choked and clipped DDP plenty times, but that Will to win....and Brunson caved. DDP is a one tough opponent. You have to end him, like Soldic did, .....otherwise...like a Badger, he's going to keep coming. AND his BREATHING is 80 % better now, since that Op....and his skills against Whittaker show a much-improved fighter. Watch out MWs.

Watching most of Dricus fights, one thing I can say is Adesanya is miles ahead in striking. I doubt Dricus has the level of grappling that will put Israel in trouble. I may get it all round when the fight happens but for now as it stands, It's hard to see Dricus defeating Israel.

The guy knows he needs to take the fight to the ground to win as he hasn't got a remote chance on the feet. Adesanya will be anticipating and expecting the takedowns. Also, Israel is much faster and elusive than any other fighter he's faced. I can see this fight going similar to the the Costa one. Du Plessis over extends his strikes, keeps his chin in the air and has very poor footwork. All Israel needs to do is pick him apart from the outside and wait for him to overcommit then counter.

@@ghoormann I agree. There’s levels to the game and if Izzy wasn’t around I believe Whittaker would still be the champ. The only person to beat him in the recent years is Izzy and the last fight they had was more competitive then both of the pereira fights my opinion. Not as anxiety ridden because pereira is a giant and terrifying but more competitive because Rob has a far more well rounded skill set and has been in there with absolute monsters his whole career.

Brunson is way past his prime and was literally manhandling a much younger and bigger du plessis before he gassed out. Is this even a shocker? Brunson is way way passed his prime and would have mopped the floor with this guy if he had decent cardio but hes old AF and should have retired years ago. this win does nothing for duplessis crediiblity at all imo.

Driccus has the physical tools to compete with Izzy. He’s big, strong, hits hard, good chin, willingness to wrestle. He needs to just sharpen up his striking big time and improve his cardio

got to hand it to king maker dana. this is the second time i am watching this fight. bruson hamed up the thrown fight really well! he stuffed driscuss weak take down trys effortlessly. had driscus where he easy could of secured a permanent choke many times...even had driscuss reeling on the back foot many times from fast punches..but derick oddly just slacked off...wow...well choreographed but still a thrown fight....at least derick did not throw the fight as fast as robert wittaker did.there. is NO way this driscus guy could beat rob so easily...especially so fast...no way...if he fights anything like this sloppy staggering nonsense with izzy he is going to get the brad taveras treatment big time

Drikus, you have to work on your fitness boet, head hanging, arms hanging, looking tired there. Yes you got the win but to step up to the next level you have to improve your fitness and stamina. A better fighter will take you apart at these rounds. Get the mieliepap into you and improve the stamina , endurance and fitness , all the best boet

His fitness looks fine to me. Not at one stage did he look like he gassed out. Seems like people are just echoing what commentators are saying. DC always comments that Drikus looks tired. There are different types of fitness levels. One person can have the type of cardio where he does not become tired at all but at the later stage when he becomes tired he gasses out and cannot recuperate. In the exceptional cases some don’t become tired at all. In Drikus case he has the cardio where he becomes tired while fighting but once they do not engage he recuperates quickly to almost full energy. This means he would be able to fight like this for five rounds while DC constantly comment on how tired he is. Drikus will start having a problem when he fights a fighter who engages the whole 5 minutes of a round. Between rounds he will recuperate quickly. You can see he is very fit. Not all fighters have the same type of cardio. His problem with cardio will start when he has a bad weight cut because he is so big
