Its kinda interesting that the "over the shoulder cam" is always a fixed camera, while a lot of the other shots are from someone holding a camera or a boom camera. This makes it very easy to sort of half and half the screen, with a delay of just a second or so on the kicker half. Derren Brown is just watching the kicks, marking them down, then its turned into "magic" in editing.

It's a tv trick - camera behind derren's back is still, background is also still, there's an editing splittitng the screen in half and the left half being delayed. I think cyriak explained it some time ago and now I can see this in some of brown's videos.

This guy played for QPR (Queens Parker Rangers) a fotball team that plays in 'Coca-Cola Football League Championship' the 2nd highest level of fotball/soccer in england, after PL. He's a striker. He is by no means a bad fotballer. Also, the way D. Brown predicts the penalties are just human nature.. Most humans would actually place the ball high into the right corner on their first penalty. Some few do place them to the left, but close to noone place them in the middle. only after 3-4 penalties.

...in fact, I think I can see how this trick was done. It is not what we are shown, but rather what we are not shown. I suspect there were many penalties where Derren's predictions were wrong, but these were simply not shown. Therefore we are supposed to be left with the impression that he was always right!

Why are people treating this as though he's looking at the physics of the situation when Derren Brown's motif is psychological. A professional should be able to decide where he's going to kick the ball, as the guy claimed he does. He doesn't need to read all the physics of his kick, just his mindset during his approach. That is far more plausible and fits with his style. Though, I'll be the first to admit that's a bit fantastic.

You can try to watch were there looking, how there leaning, and if you can what side of the ball has more more foot behind it... These things are just clues. I played as a keeper for 12 years of competitive soccer I was told to look for these things... but Its just leaving to much to chance. I wouldn't be able to do get it right every time... What I did was offset my self so I was more to one side of the goal by like 5 inches... the kicker will most always shoot for the bigger target.

if it was one continuous take then I'd probably believe it but they are probably only showing the one's he got right.

Clevar , Derren brown touches his right shoulder while talking and also says "RIGHT at the very last second" subconsiesly (cant spell) telling the guy to go right , in which he does on his first shot.

O gullible one, let me explain to you that Derren is not some genius psychologist, he is simply a magician who disguises cheesy old conjuring tricks as brilliant feats of psychology. He did not predict the penalties at all, he was just one step ahead of the rest of us, just as any conjurer is.

What I know for sure is that he doesn't use stooges or any kind of cheating in his how..I think he knows where the first shot will be, because he told him "kick RIGHT in the last second" so he subconscious tells him to shoot right.If you've watched the video Yes or NO game, where he can predict what the guy in front of him will choose yes or no, I guess here he uses something similar and sees in which side he will shoot,and about the height of the shot he just sees how much the guy leans I guess

He couldn't predict the player hitting the post atleast, i doubt if the player meant to hit it. The kicker's accuracy is dependent on many things, I don't imagine Derren could predict that but he could probably predict where the guy wants to hit the ball, on which case he wouldn't be right when the guy misses his aim.

I don't think he's reading body language. Watch only his eyes during the kicks. He makes his guess most of the time by the kicker's 2nd step. How could the kicker's body already be showing signs of where he's going to kick it that early in his approach (especially if he's going to kick it high or low).

I think it is faked. He is known for this just as much as his hypnotic/NLP/suggestion bits. Notice how he never crosses a certain line of the picture, where the goal is. I reckon he filmed the whole thing, with his writing down the previous goal's shot; he then re-edited it after, so that it looks like he was doing it simultaneously with the footballer, as opposed to directly after.

My God !....come on guys...its easy. Hes standing in front of a green screen each time the penalty is taken. He already knows where the bll will end up because hes watched it on video. Look at the angle too. The lighting isnt the same and he is clearly looking at a blank green screen. Nonetheless... the perfect illusion !

It's not that it defies my understanding. It's just that it is television. I do believe that some of the "tricks" he shows are genuine and very practical, but some of it is just lame. That's where television kicks in again. He needs to make a new show every now and then and he needs to come up with stunning things. So I guess that he just has a certain psychological idea/trick behind each of the shows but he has to make it a bit more spectacular to make sure he gets enough viewers.

No no no nothing like that at all. Read the book called Richard Bandler, John Grinder - Frogs Into Princes. I think it is chapter 3 which tells excatly how to do this. Our brain ignores lots and lots of information other people give us. Derren learned how to read it, that is how simple it is.
